its been a while, thought i would see if you MNers are still walking around creased Wink

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 06/09/2012 14:50

I feel liberated since. Mad ehte decision not to iron anymore, it's great!

The dses look creased for the first 5 minutes and then it all seems to sort itself out. I don't think I look creased pointedly ignoring the fact that I desperately need an eye test

Dh still irons his shirts and insists on ironing the dses white polo tops which is completely daft as they are nearly always topped with a non ironed sweaterConfused

My mum irons pants, tea towels, sheets, everything....When the dses go to stay she takes all the clothes out of the bag when they get there and irons them, whether they are worn or not! I take great delight in grabbing the neatly ironed piles of boys pants on their return and scrunching them up before shoving them in the drawer. Ironed pants are just wrong!

Kewcumber · 06/09/2012 14:51

my problem is that 5 minutes afetr I've put clothes on they look unironed even if they were.

I think I am Pigpen from Peanuts Sad

MadBusLady · 06/09/2012 14:52

I. Do not iron.

It is the single most consistent memory of my childhood, my mum doing piles and piles of ironing for HOURS while I did fun stuff. It's the only household task I absolutely refuse point blank to do. DP's shirts go to the dry cleaners.

VinegarTits · 06/09/2012 14:53

i iron my bedding too, cant stand to get in creased sheets

OP posts:
GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 14:54

I don't iron for anyone else - dd does her own, and so did XP when we were together.

I don't iron my bedding (sorry vin) but I do change it every day so it doesn't really get creased from use.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 06/09/2012 14:55

I recently tried a new tack with the laundry process - bought loads of hangers, hung everything up damp, came back and it was all erm creased.

Can't stand curled-up collars on t-shirts, twisted seams - and there's. O way a cotton shirt or pair of trousers is wearable if it's un-ironed.

Yes, you pick up a few creases as the day goes on - all the
more teason for starting it uncreased. Oh, and the creases don't drop out during the day.

That said, I give priority to my clothes and most of everyone else's gets folded and 'pressed' on the Aga - apart from said cotton shirts and trousers.

Trills · 06/09/2012 14:55

I used to do the ironing for my mum - it was the best chore to take on because you could watch TV at the same time.

VinegarTits · 06/09/2012 14:56

you chnage your bedding everyday? Shock

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 06/09/2012 14:56

I dont think I can "press" things on my gas hob, can I? [hopeful]

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 14:57

Yes but I only do it because (a) I make such a mess of the sheets tossing and turning and (b) it's really nice having clean sheets and it is a cheap luxury.

Trills · 06/09/2012 14:59

Didn't you know that Vinny? It's one of GetOrf's things (that and going commando in white jeans).

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 06/09/2012 14:59

Idon't iron sheets but do iron duvet covers and pillowcases.

Every day? Blimey.

I do wash towels every other day.

VinegarTits · 06/09/2012 14:59

sounds like your sheets get a lot of action Grin

im psml at the thought of kew trying to 'press' her smalls on the gas hob Grin

OP posts:
GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 15:00

Yes, my MN claims to fame are clean sheets, immac fanjos and the post bath woosh.

Thumbwitch · 06/09/2012 15:00

at pressing stuff on gas hob - I think it would certainly reduce your ironing, Kewc, but you might need to go shopping! Grin

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 15:01

They get NO action.

I just roll myself up like a swiss roll in the duvet.

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 06/09/2012 15:01

I tell you what gets on my nerves.

You've changed the bed, lovingly smoothed down the newly ironed cover...and dh wants action.

I have been known to refuse.

VinegarTits · 06/09/2012 15:02

commando in white jeans! Shock

i love the term 'laundry process' im nicking that

OP posts:
MadBusLady · 06/09/2012 15:05

That would certainly get rid of every last crease, Kewcumber.

Trills · 06/09/2012 15:09

GetOrf is also over 6ft tall and only about 30 (despite having a teenager) so probably looks like an attractive happy-period-tampon-advert in those white jeans.

sugarice · 06/09/2012 15:10

There's nothing better than jumping into a crisp freshly scented clean bed before anyone else! I don't change the bedlinen everyday, I bow down to your superiority in the clean bed stakes Getorf. Grin

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 15:15

No not WHITE jeans. I aint Liz Hurley Grin

whoooooooaah bodyform

Kewcumber · 06/09/2012 16:43

"That would certainly get rid of every last crease, Kewcumber." that sounds like just the ticket.

Gauchita · 06/09/2012 17:14

Oh I love ironing threads Grin
I don't iron, DH does. Last week I had to iron the living-room curtains after washing them and I burnt myself twice. Hate it; pointless, time-consuming activity.

JumpingThroughMoreHoops · 06/09/2012 18:05

I hate ironing with a passion.

I'm not daft enough to iron underwear - but no way will I have anyone leave this house looking like their mother is a lazy, negligent slattern
