Completely and totally unreasonable.

Ironing has got to be the most pointless activity ever created by man.

ShatnersBassoon · 06/09/2012 14:05

YANBU to waste your own time however you please.

Ironing is an unpleasant chore to me, so I only iron things that can be seen. Not underwear, towels, tea towels etc.

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 06/09/2012 14:07

life is too short.
have you nothing better to be doing?

AlbertoFrog · 06/09/2012 14:08

Do I get points for guessing who the OP was before opening the thread? Grin

YABU btw.

brandysoakedbitch · 06/09/2012 14:09

YABU

I pay someone else to do it, not knickers though, that is plain daft

RedBlanket · 06/09/2012 14:10

YABU

You've obviously got Internet access, what you wasting MN time on the ironing board.

Trills · 06/09/2012 14:10

If you find pleasure in ironing then you can iron all you like.

Y would BU to complain about your ironing pile if you are doing all that unnecessary ironing though.

CleoSmackYa · 06/09/2012 14:12

I don't Iron anything. In fact, I don't even own an Iron. It depresses me.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 06/09/2012 14:12

LMAO at ironing!

I'm wearing unironed t shirt and jeans Grin

I an suffering with SPD though, so just DPs work shirts get ironed and DDs uniforms.

VinegarTits · 06/09/2012 14:13

Grin @ AlbertoFrog

the items of underwear i iron are ds(6) boxers, paying someone else to do it is not a bad idea though, i might consider that

creased and proud. (though if you're feelign generous I could post you some stuff to do as I dont have any objection to looking less crumpled)

Having a large arse which stretches the wrinkles out naturally does help though.

Thumbwitch · 06/09/2012 14:16

YANBU. You can iron whatever you like; just as I can iron whatever I like - which is nothing except a very few items that might need it just prior to wearing. :)

DH irons his own shirts if he feels they need it - they all get hung up on hangers to dry, so most of the creases fall out anyway - but it's his choice. I might iron his trousers for him to get the creases straight and single, but only if I'm feeling kind.
DS's clothes mostly don't get ironed.

But everything is hung up to dry and then folded and put away - so none of it is really crumpled.

Creased and proud here too.

DH uses a shirt service for his work shirts. I just don't bother, I work in academia and no one cares.

I am Confused by anyone ironing underwear, but we all need a hobby I guess!

Ephiny · 06/09/2012 14:23

I can't iron though. I just end up putting different creases in. And I melted a polyester blouse once.

Trills · 06/09/2012 14:25

I don't get why people see ironing as optional.

Because you don't have to do it. That's what optional means.

Thumbwitch · 06/09/2012 14:27

Oh, beaten to it by Trills.

Ironing is an OPTIONAL part of the "laundry process" - anyone who thinks otherwise has been brainwashed. Or works in a Chinese laundry.

MousyMouse · 06/09/2012 14:27

yabvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvu

I don't even know where my iron is after moving house...
strategic drying and clothesbuying all the way.

nokidshere · 06/09/2012 14:29

I iron things that need ironing - I don't like the crumpled look :) but you are totally able to iron whatever you like without anyone criticising you for doing so!

VinegarTits · 06/09/2012 14:31

to me, not ironing your clothes is the same as not brushing your hair

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 06/09/2012 14:31

You know how you know it's optional? There is no law against wearing wrinkles.

And if there was? I'd be arrested a lot.

Kewcumber · 06/09/2012 14:32

you have a "laundry process" Shock[faints]

StealthPolarBear · 06/09/2012 14:33

Yep still crumpled here :) but yanbu to spend your free time as youwish, I don't lurk on fishing forums telling them what they do is pointless and unnecessary :o

Trills · 06/09/2012 14:34

I don't brush my hair either Vinny :o

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 14:34

I iron all my clothes (not underwear).

I never iron it all in one go, though, I can't imagine spending hours ironing all the stuff.

I just iron as I go - takes 10 minutes to iron my stuff in the morning.

Couldn't not iron. I would look all creasey and feel messy.
