DD goes back tomorrow. Am going to miss her desperately. YABU.

LadyofWinterfell · 05/09/2012 17:46

A kitchen with food in it! DDs have been eating everything in sight for 6 weeks and have bankrupted me trying to keep up!

On the flip side though 7yo DD2 has just had a half hour temper tantrum after her first day back Confused

SuperB0F · 05/09/2012 17:48

The man next door was moist-eyed with relief this morning. I don't think I've ever seen him so happy. He has four sons.

Prarieflower · 05/09/2012 17:50

Oh no you're not, sooooo with you op on this one.

Had a lovely walk in the sun with friends, managed to bake biscuits, started to clear up the house,do some shopping, hung the washing out and more importantly have got as you say headspace-all in 1 bloody day!!!!

I love my kids but 6 weeks of caring for 3 kids 8,8 and 7 on a budget with limited car use and crap weather has left me feeling slightly jaded iykwim.

KenLeeeeeee · 05/09/2012 17:50

It is splendiferous not having to get up to answer the door every 5 minutes to the neighbourhood kids calling for ds1. And it's nice being able to eat a round of toast without a small face appearing and announcing that they want to try it. Otherwise, I miss them horribly and the house feels weird without them running riot.

WorraLiberty · 05/09/2012 17:51

BOF, I thought you were saying he was moist-eyed because your kids were going back to school Grin

SoleSource · 05/09/2012 17:53

Lol BOF moist eyed with relief. I have enjoyed my first day.

Nagoo · 05/09/2012 17:54

YANBU I had a delightful day, just me and the baby, sorting all the washing and hoovering in forgotten places.

I am more delighted about teacher husbands being back at work than the DC. I would happily have kept DS for another week or two.

Francagoestohollywood · 05/09/2012 17:54

YANBU. Mine are starting next week.

letsblowthistacostand · 05/09/2012 17:55

Am just so pleased not to have to make lunches for dd1: The Child Who Doesn't Eat Sandwiches. I've been cooking 2 hot meals a day for 6 weeks and today was such a relief. She has school dinners so I don't even have to stress about how much she eats because I don't know!!

Strawhatpirate · 05/09/2012 17:56

Rejoice rejoice!

gabbymum · 05/09/2012 17:58

I just feel marvellous today!!

I hate it when they go back. I love the freedom of the holidays when we dont have to be anywhere at a specific time.

SuperB0F · 05/09/2012 18:09

I think he was probably pretty relieved at that too, to be fair Grin

beachyhead · 05/09/2012 18:10

I was ALL BY MYSELF today......Grin Grin

Chestnutx3 · 05/09/2012 18:16

I was lonely but happy. Happy school has fed them well and tired them out

waterlego6064 · 05/09/2012 18:35

YANBU. I have one going back tomorrow and one starting next week. I can't wait will cope without them.

SamuelWestsMistress · 05/09/2012 18:45

Its bliss!

juniper904 · 05/09/2012 19:01

YABU!

I've been back in school for two days, and it's lovely without the children! I've made so many beautiful displays and everything is neat and tidy. Come tomorrow, it'll look like a bomb site / like 30 year 3s have been in it.

I think Ms Trunchball has the right idea- schools would be a good place to work if it weren't for all the children...

Smile I love them really! ask me again tomorrow

thebeesnees79 · 05/09/2012 19:03

my two went back Tuesday! I am 34 weeks pregnant & found my 5 & 3 year old exhausting this 6 weeks hols.
My daughter only goes three hours a day to pre school but those three hours are making a huge difference to my energy levels. my house is cleaner and I am less moody and grouchy. so no yanbu!!

peppersaunt · 05/09/2012 19:18

Back to school today! Peace and quiet is awesome!

Roundandroundthemulberrybush · 05/09/2012 20:09

I am beyond delighted. My youngest has just started pre school for 5 mornings a week and I now have 2 mornings, a whole 6 hours a week just for ME. I work the other 3 days but am beyond excited that I will never have to do supermarket shopping with a screaming child in tow.

jellybaby25 · 06/09/2012 00:09

YABU. Why bother having children if you feel like that?

MammaTJisWearingGold · 06/09/2012 00:12

Sleep after a night shift!!! YAY!!

Startailoforangeandgold · 06/09/2012 00:21

I'm firmly on the fence.
Both were getting bored and bank balance didn't need any more trips off.
House looks like a tip.

However, DD1 has scarcely walked through the door before we find we have sets and dyslexia raising it's ugly head.

It's bloody unfair, DD2 just sails through and DD1 has to fight idiots after an easy life.
