To never ever set foot in Sainsbury's because I detest Jamie Oliver, his gormless smug grin and mockney ways.

I explained to a couple who are friends of mine that I will never set foot in Sainbury's because they use Jamie Oliver in their marketing. I think he's a smug, annoying git who needs a slap to wipe that gormless grin off his face who thinks a bit too much of himself, and basically I don't think he should be encouraged.

He may have campaigned for healthier school meals, but that just gives him extra reasons to be smug. I don't care if Sainbury's is more 'ethical' or 'middle class'. I'm never shopping in their because of 'that man' and his family are just as annoying.

AIBU to feel this way?

PS, I just take a real dislike to certain people, and I feel the same way about JK Rowling, Sting and Julia Bradbury.

J O has brought out a frozen range he is now lurking in every supermarket Grin dont buy his fishcakes though cos they are vile

sugarice · 31/08/2012 16:47

I shop all over, Sainsburys at the moment as their home delivery is better than Tesco who seem to run out of stuff that I've ordered Hmm. I like Morrisons too but ours needs a re-fit, the aisles are too small and it's dark plus it's a crap shopping experience there fighting with the trolley banging into others. I personally find Andrew Flintoff a PITA but that doesn't put me off shopping at Morrisons.

Knowsabitabouteducation · 31/08/2012 16:49

It's a silly reason for not shopping at Sainsbury's if it is close to you.

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 31/08/2012 16:49

What has poor Jamie done to upset you this much? All he ever want was for us to try something new today.

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 31/08/2012 16:51

I harbour deep loathing towards JO and his knobbish brand of cockneyism.I do not b any of his products at all and gave away the cookbook someone bought for me. Wanker.

I do shop at sainsburys because I flatly refuse to shop at tescos. I lurve waitrose most of all but just cannot afford a weekly shop there!

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 31/08/2012 16:53

Oh and as for the healthy eating I also suspect it was a well thought out media exercise rather than any sense of responsibility towards the health of the next generation. He saw an opening and exploited it.

butisthismyname · 31/08/2012 16:55

I went to Currys this morning to help my mum buy a new cooker and fridge freezer and there were some flipping JAMIE OLIVER cookers there! he gets everywhere

AmberLeaf · 31/08/2012 16:58

I like Jamie Oliver. I don't know why people hate him so much tbh.

I liked him from his River cafe days and he seemed exactly the same then as he does now so he doesn't appear 'affected'

I love the way he cooks and he seems like an affable sort.

What's to hate?

Bluefrogs · 31/08/2012 17:03

Oh shit op,I work for the sainsburys sleb recruitment team and have to share some news with you that the upcoming sainsbos ads will be lurvely Julia Bradbury showing how we source natural quality ingredients with a narration by JK Rowling with the soothing tones of Sting playing in the background.
Not sure you will like it though

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 31/08/2012 17:03

Much as I dislike J.O and his family branding, I couldn't stop going to sainsburys.
They sell far too many butterfly themed products.
I have to buy them all and it might takes some time.

I rarely get round to the food section.
Food is boring. I likes shiny things....

HmmThinkingAboutIt · 31/08/2012 17:07

Hmm ok, so I shouldn't shop somewhere because of smug annoying celebs on adverts.

Well Waitrose is out cos of Heston.
Morrisons... who has done Morrisons? Hamster, Flintoff, Nick Hancock, Van Outen...
M & S. Oh God. Myleene Klass & Dannii Minogue

If I applied the same logic to all brands and shops I think I might very quickly run out of things to buy and places to shop.

YABU and frankly a bit silly to let advertising affect you to that extent. Judge it on the product, service and prices. Not a celeb.

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 31/08/2012 17:18

I love my ASDA.

It's cheap, well set out, and there's the likelihood of seeing all kinds of interesting things- couples arguing, shoplifters, customers scrapping over taxis outside.
I am attracted to the seedy side of life, clearly.

I love Jamie and Jools, though.

LesleyPumpshaft · 31/08/2012 17:47

Bluefrogs, Nooooo, but then again I've not actually watched telly for ages, which is probably why I thought Jamie Oliver was still doing stuff for Sainsburys. Blush

HmmThinkingAboutIt, actually, I am pretty funny about those things and I'm considering boycotting the Co-op because the man who says "Good with food" is a smarmy git with an annoying voice. Still, at least I have the local green grocer, butcher and health food shops with no annoying celebs. Grin

Badgersnatch · 31/08/2012 17:58

Do you mean the annoying co op bloke who actually says "Gud with fud?" he's a wanker but not as much as a wanker as Jamie Cuntbubble Oliver.

I'd forgotten that Mylene Twatbag Klass did M and S. Is it still OK to go to M and S Food on account that she only does bikinis and Per Una?

LesleyPumpshaft · 31/08/2012 18:01

Yes Badgersnatch, the Gud with Fud bloke. You are right of course, he can never live up to Jamie's heights of cuntery.

I think the fact that M&S food and Per Una clothes are under the same roof says it all really. Never mind Ms Klass, the Per Una garms would have already put me off eating anything.

He's from Essex. Some of them talk like that, you know, so it's not "mockney".
That's all I wanted to say.

NellyJob · 31/08/2012 18:11

not in Saffron Walden darling....

JamieandOscarSittinginATree · 31/08/2012 18:12

As I said, Essex Grin

NellyJob · 31/08/2012 18:13

Have you seen the other thread? Apparently Jamie Oliver nearly killed someone with a wasp......

Frontpaw · 31/08/2012 18:22

I met him (briefly) and thought he was a bit grumpy. And he was wearing sandals. Sandals!! He was very patient with his adoring fans though (me not being one of them).

LesleyPumpshaft · 31/08/2012 18:41

Caerlaverock, I told you he was a wrongun!
