To never ever set foot in Sainsbury's because I detest Jamie Oliver, his gormless smug grin and mockney ways.

I explained to a couple who are friends of mine that I will never set foot in Sainbury's because they use Jamie Oliver in their marketing. I think he's a smug, annoying git who needs a slap to wipe that gormless grin off his face who thinks a bit too much of himself, and basically I don't think he should be encouraged.

He may have campaigned for healthier school meals, but that just gives him extra reasons to be smug. I don't care if Sainbury's is more 'ethical' or 'middle class'. I'm never shopping in their because of 'that man' and his family are just as annoying.

AIBU to feel this way?

PS, I just take a real dislike to certain people, and I feel the same way about JK Rowling, Sting and Julia Bradbury.

YABU, he ended his marketing relationship with Sainsburys ages ago.

LesleyPumpshaft · 31/08/2012 11:35

Shit, I just found out that he is no longer doing a deal with Sainsbury's. Still, the damage has been done and being associated with 'that man' has sullied them forever in my eyes.

You are being fairly extreme, it's not like he is likely to be at the checkout, all fat tongued shouting mockney taunts at you

LesleyPumpshaft · 31/08/2012 11:36

People who only shop at Sainsbury's are quite smug about it too. It must be the smug supermarket. Grin

Julia Bradbury is annoying but not as annoying at Katie humble

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 31/08/2012 11:37

You can choose to shop wherever you like for whatever reason you like, but this does seem a little like you are cutting off your nose to spite your face.

RedBlanket · 31/08/2012 11:37

YABU, although I know someone who won't shop there because the uniform is brown (or was at some point) and he doesn't trust anyone who wears brown voluntarily.

WelshMaenad · 31/08/2012 11:37

I shop at Sainsburys and Lidl. Does that make me grocerially bipolar?

Caerlaverock · 31/08/2012 11:37

I dislike morrisons because of their brownish logo

LesleyPumpshaft · 31/08/2012 11:38

Caerlaverock - How do we know this? What if he bundles me into the back of his campervan in Sainsbury's car park and makes me have a BBQ with him?

OP posts:
Caerlaverock · 31/08/2012 11:39

Lesley , stab him with one of his brightly coloured skewers (do I have to think of everything)

WelshMaenad · 31/08/2012 11:39

Mirroring is yellow and green.

Fuck, I sound like a supermarket fetishist. I just like food shopping.

picnicbasketcase · 31/08/2012 11:39

There's no way Sainsburys is smugger than Waitrose

WelshMaenad · 31/08/2012 11:39

Mirroring? MORRISONS. fuxake.

LesleyPumpshaft · 31/08/2012 11:40

Caerlaverock - Disliking Morrisons because of the brown logo is perfectly reasonable. The little black Netto freaks me out.

WelshMaenad - Sorry to say, but that could well be contrued and being grocery bipolar. Grin

OP posts:
Caerlaverock · 31/08/2012 11:40

Really? Morrisons definitely gives the impression of browness

RedBlanket · 31/08/2012 11:41

AIBU to want JO to bundle me in to his camper van and force me to have a BBQ. Bet he doesn't drop the burgers in the coal, run them under the tap and say 'the burnt bits are good for you'

theoriginalandbestrookie · 31/08/2012 11:42

And I thought I was the only one with an irrational dislike of Jamie Oliver.

You should stop shopping at Sainsburys because it isn't as cheap as Asda or Morrisons and is not as well organised as Tescos or proper posh like Waitrose or M&S. Sainsburys annoys me as a supermarket as it always seems a bit higgeldy piggeldy, do sometimes like their clothes though.

Groovee · 31/08/2012 11:42

He doesnt work for sainbury anymore hasnt for ages

LesleyPumpshaft · 31/08/2012 11:44

picnicbasketcase, Waitrose and M&S take the prize for being the smuggest supermarkets for sure. Personally, I don't have a favoured supermarket, it depends which one is the nearest when I feel the urge to do some food shopping.

OP posts:
RedBlanket · 31/08/2012 11:46

and he'd include nice salads in his BBQ. and it wouldn't take 3 hours.

GnocchiNineDoors · 31/08/2012 11:47

I recommended a book to a friend who said "hmm....I don't know......do they sell it in Sainsburys?" as if that was the benchmark to whether said book was worth reading.
