To never ever set foot in Sainsbury's because I detest Jamie Oliver, his gormless smug grin and mockney ways.

I explained to a couple who are friends of mine that I will never set foot in Sainbury's because they use Jamie Oliver in their marketing. I think he's a smug, annoying git who needs a slap to wipe that gormless grin off his face who thinks a bit too much of himself, and basically I don't think he should be encouraged.

He may have campaigned for healthier school meals, but that just gives him extra reasons to be smug. I don't care if Sainbury's is more 'ethical' or 'middle class'. I'm never shopping in their because of 'that man' and his family are just as annoying.

AIBU to feel this way?

PS, I just take a real dislike to certain people, and I feel the same way about JK Rowling, Sting and Julia Bradbury.

I find my shops in Sainsburys cheaper than Asda et al because their Basics range is so much nicer than everyone else's. Eg, their basics tuna is fished by line and pole so I can buy it.

RedBlanket · 31/08/2012 11:50

Alex James the blur/cheese bloke? This just gets better.

KenLeeeeeee · 31/08/2012 11:51

I refuse to shop in Asda after the "Tommy K" debacle. So YANBU imo.

Caerlaverock · 31/08/2012 11:51

You are sick redblanket sick

NellyJob · 31/08/2012 11:52

I cannot bear Jamie Oliver, dictating to impoverished mums how they should feed their families, and then selling his own brand pasta at double the price of normal pasta, just because it has his ugly smug fat face on it.
and anyone who 'whacks' anything into the pot, or adds a 'glug' of olive oil deserves to be strung up and forced to watch the archive of JO sainsburys ads for all eternity.

SparklyGothKat · 31/08/2012 11:54

Sainsburys uniform is deep purple. I know as I iron dps shirts every week. Lol. I only shop there for the staff discount. Wink

Caerlaverock · 31/08/2012 11:54

I thought his attempts to get folk to eat healthily were great tbh.

LesleyPumpshaft · 31/08/2012 11:55

theoriginalandbestrookie, I knew I couldn't be the only one with an irrational dislike of Mr Oliver. Grin Tbh I don't have much in the way of local supermarkets, so it's either the Co-op or Lidle round here.

RedBlanket, YABU, you know it's cooked if there's a bit of black on it. Wink

Groovee, I don't buy Nestle products, because I am a lentil scoffing yoghurt weaver. Blush

Not really sure where grooves is going with the nestle thing

NellyJob · 31/08/2012 11:56

he had his day with the turkey twizzlers it is true, he was great for a time, he voiced what so many of us were thinking, so that was good. Sadly its been downhill ever since, and besides nothing much actually changed afterwards, just the twizzlers were removed from the menu.

foxinsocks · 31/08/2012 11:57

I love sainsburys

foxinsocks · 31/08/2012 11:58

He isn't actually in sainsburys you know Smile

Avoid all slebs and shop online that's my tip ;-)

TigerStripe · 31/08/2012 11:59

I don't know about unreasonable, but you're definitely being ridiculous. Why allow yourself to hate a person you have never met before so much that it affects where you shop?

foxinsocks · 31/08/2012 11:59

I've been to a big asda near us twice and both times seen a fight where the police had to be called. That put me off tbh.

Caerlaverock · 31/08/2012 11:59

Dh bought their taste the difference sausages a while back, they were inedible so I dislike them now

Taxicat · 31/08/2012 11:59

No offence, but it's just a shop. Who cares who the face is.

BrainSurgeon · 31/08/2012 12:00

googietheegg · 31/08/2012 12:02

I love JO. But I can see why some people think he is a bell end.

LesleyPumpshaft · 31/08/2012 12:04

NellyJob, Turkey twizzlers were the Devil's food, and they probably aren't fit to feed to dogs even. I can't help thinking though, that Mr Oliver has been crusing on that particular wave of righteousness since then. Apparently he does good work with youngsters, but I'm still entitled to think he's a funt imo.

foxinsocks, Tbh I would shop there in an extreme emergency, ie on the way back from holiday if it was the only place open until the morning and we hadn't eaten for 8 hours. Not so sure about shopping online, I enjoy the food shopping experience.

A bit of the old garlick.... A little splash of the old balsamic, a dash of the old turmeric. If you can't get fresh ingredients from sainsburys when you are a smug, mockney fat tongue chef then what chance do the rest of us have?

LesleyPumpshaft · 31/08/2012 12:07

foxinsocks, bloody heck! I'd better add Asda to the black list then!

Vagaceratops · 31/08/2012 12:11

JO went to the same school as me. I like him although his accent is faker than Katie Price's norkage.

YABU.

You sound a bit unbalanced actually. Not for disliking Jamie Oliver - I can take him or leave him - but how could anyone possibly dislike the lovely Julia Bradbury?

I shop in Sainsburys and Tescosm but mostly Sainsburys because - well it is just "nicer" and I know where everything is.
