Am I? Or should I find something else to do? I am sat at work and there isn't anything to do...the day is long and boring so far, and my supervisor is pissing me off no end and am trying not to blow my top at her. My 3 DC are away at their dads until sunday and i am missing them dreadfully and thought i'd love the quiet....but I just want them back!

If anyone fancies talking and helping my day along..... :)

Hopefully you will find something nice at the weekend. Never having sent anything to a friend overseas, I am struggling with ideas! I would have said scarf, necklace/bracelet etc....but you have already sent those! What kind of things does she send you?

Oh the last thing she bought me was lovely! It sounds a bit weird, a tiny little ornament of a salmon swimming upstream - it came with a little story of how such a little thing can swim upstream in the face of adversity! Its very colourful and oriental looking, I love it! That s what I mean, she sends me such lovely things, and they could only be Japanese! I think the gift before that was a pearl brooch. They are always so lovely, I struggle to match them!

Lovemy3kids · 30/08/2012 15:37

Sounds lovely.

Have you looked on the 'I want one of those' website? They sometimes have some good thinigs on there....but sometimes they are quite quirky. maybe worth a look?

DorothyGherkins · 30/08/2012 15:41

yes, they are worth a look arent they. I dont really know what I m looking for! But I will know when I see it!

Lovemy3kids · 30/08/2012 15:47

It's normally the small shops that everyone passes that sell the best things....fingers crossed for a successful shopping trip on the weekend. Do you have any antique shops round where you live? Maybe you could have a look in there for something?

Yes, I love the little shops, hopefully will find something on Saturday, hope so, I think her birthday is second week in September so will need to be posting it soon. Are you ready for your kids to come back now? You long for some time to yourself, but when they are gone, it seems wrong, doesnt it, too quiet, too tidy - and just not right!

Lovemy3kids · 30/08/2012 16:16

I've been ready for days for them to come back!! i really thought i'd relish the quiet but i have hated it....especially the bank holiday - it seemed longer than usual!! I know the upside is that the house has been tidy and that there hasn't been mountains of washing.....but I'd swap that now!! Thanks for asking :)

Nothing too inspired I don't think.

KD0706 · 30/08/2012 16:47

Hi. They were fine thanks. Just boring shop bought ones.

Chicken provencale tonight. Basically tomatoey chicken casserole.

When are your children home?

KD0706 · 30/08/2012 16:50

Sorry I've just retread your op. Sunday they are home I see

KD0706 · 30/08/2012 16:50

Yoda esque typing due to toddler and baby

DorothyGherkins · 30/08/2012 16:55

Well, how exciting, I had a very small flurry of work emails then! Thank you Lovemy and KD for your company - I shall be here again tomorrow. I can lock up and go home in five minutes!

KD0706 · 31/08/2012 13:33

So, are you ladies busy at work today then?

We've been out this morning to a farm. Had walk, nosed at animals, toddler played on adventure play ground thingy. Picked strawberries. Put an extra pound in on top of the price they charges me due to how many strawberries had been consumed by Dd on way round.

DD was then harassed by wasps as she was coated in strawberry juice.

Had coffee and millionaires shortbread tart thingy. Was quite bogging.

That's my morning in a summery - what have you been up to?

DorothyGherkins · 31/08/2012 14:37

Hi KD - I m at my office computer, pencil sharpened all ready for action and........nothing! Its a boring way to spend afternoons, but hey, it helps pays the bills. That was an exciting morning you had KD, just love picking strawberries, they smell gorgeous when you pick them dont they, and I think if you eat them straight from the plant, they taste so different, yum ! What will you do with all your pickings?

KD0706 · 31/08/2012 16:25

Dd eaten just about the whole punnet already.

Now at soft play. Eldest playing. Youngest crying. Think she's sleepy but sees refusing to sleep. Boo

DorothyGherkins · 31/08/2012 16:45

Glad they were eaten while they were still at their best and so fresh! Wanna swap places? Its like a morgue in my office, just me waiting to take any phone messages (which there havent been) you could hear a pin drop, and its just so boring! Not sure I would want to swap places though, my baby days are done - all growed up and left home and making their own babies.

KD0706 · 31/08/2012 16:54

I had a job like that once. Sat in reception reading a magazine under the desk. Sounded fab but the novelty wore off quickly

DorothyGherkins · 31/08/2012 16:58

Yes, everyone else thinks its brilliant, but doing nothing is not one of my favourite things. When I started here, I had to sign a bit of paper, saying I would only use the internet in connection with work, and at no other time. In reality, I never use it for work (no need) and spend all my afternoons mumsnetting or reading online newspapers. Go on, sack me!

KD0706 · 31/08/2012 17:00

My job was about ten years ago and I wasn't aware if anything like this site. Don't know of there wasn't much around or I was just clueless.

So it was a Cosmo secreted under the desk!

Lovemy3kids · 06/09/2012 12:30

Hello ladies.....sorry not managed to get on here for a daily chat as I have been busy at work.....yay!!! Things are, however, slow today so thought I would check in to see if any of you are around.

Kids came back on Sunday night - with bags full of dirty washing, tired, grumpy and the arguments began even before they had stepped over the threshold....but oh how I missed them! The arguments, noise levels and untidiness have resumed and i must say I am loving it :)
