to be fed up of being skint and feeling like a scrounger?

Really sick of hearing that people on benefits are lazy scroungers.

DP has done three weeks work which he hasnt been paid for. Boss called them in yesterday, expecting them to return to work even though he still hasnt paid them. We have had to sign on just to be able to eat.

The government would say "Just go get another job!"

How? Where are these jobs? DP is very qualified in a lot of different areas of work, and there isnt a single job. The woman assessing his claim wanted him to take a 20 hour pw job over an hour from where we live. So we would be paying for him to travel to work and not much else.

Its so tiring and stressful. Today we literally have £3. We have to move house at the weekend and no idea how we can do it. I am so bloody sick of hearing how lazy people are when infact they arent.

How do we make the government listen? Thats a genuine question! Are there petitions or campaigns I should support? Would writing to No.10 help?

When will this end?

Gold to sell?
Stuff to take to cex/cash converters
Sell something. ( netmums us usually very quick)
Milk and more.... You can get a first delivery and pay later

SchrodingersMew - I do not think that about tattooed people as I said.

I have a tattoo myself, I was merely describing the physical attributes of the person. I do not think people that are skinny or drink beer are scroungers.

I think those that do it out the front of post offices whilst bragging about not having to work are scroungers.

I love how people always pick up on the small random details of a post and go off on a tangent.

Confused
Vagaceratops · 29/08/2012 12:26

Blackberry Ice, why are you being so ridiculous?

McHappyPants2012 · 29/08/2012 12:26

op i hope you get something sorted.

SomebodySaveMe · 29/08/2012 12:26

Are you in Milton Keynes by any chance OP? Sounds like DPs boss!

elliejjtiny · 29/08/2012 12:26

Are you entitled to healthy start vouchers?

wannabedomesticgoddess · 29/08/2012 12:27

I get maintenance but that isnt due until the 10th sept and he isnt flush so he cant give it early. He has bought DDs last three pairs of shoes. And no, no wellies or sandals. She has one pair at a time. We have been struggling on DPs min wage jobs for a long time. But right now we are on our knees. We are hoping that if we get the next two weeks over we might be a bit better.

Could your daughter not stay with her father for a while until you get yourself sorted out? Why isnt he buying her shoes?

SchrodingersMew · 29/08/2012 12:28

It's just that the tattoos always get a mention! I admit I jump on it when I hear it just because I get sick of always hearing the first thing about a chav, scrounger, benefit cheat etc is always that they have tattoos, even if it isn't meant as a staple point it always gets a mention.

Didn't really mean that's what you thought, it just reminded me of how fed up I get when I hear it mentioned.

LadySybildeChocolate · 29/08/2012 12:30

Where about in the UK are you, wannabe? I have no cash until tomorrow, I have plenty of food though so will be happy to bring some to you if you're nearby.

Vagaceratops · 29/08/2012 12:34

I think the OP is in N.I

LadySybildeChocolate · 29/08/2012 12:35

Sad Your best option is a foodbank.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 29/08/2012 12:35

Oh DP has tattoos so I guess we are scroungers after all!! :o

DDs dad works so no way he could take her.

Thanks for all the suggestions! We have explored every avenue really. I just needed to let it out. Its not the only issue on my mind at the min and I fear I might get really depressed (probably am a bit). But its the main worry and venting helps :)

Sell stuff on ebay?

SchrodingersMew · 29/08/2012 12:37

Could you contact HV and ask for a voucher for a food bank? There must be one somewhere. Confused

BlackberryIce · 29/08/2012 12:38

vagaceratops where am I being ridiculous??

BlackberryIce · 29/08/2012 12:38

Op, have you thought about my suggestions?

Vagaceratops · 29/08/2012 12:40

Going on and on about the OP's choices is ridiculous.

BlackberryIce · 29/08/2012 12:43

Her dp has had one egg today... One... Op has had little more. Not going to be in good enough health to get their dc to pre school at this rate!

I gave some suggestions.....

wannabedomesticgoddess · 29/08/2012 12:44

Havent seen a HV for over a year. Not sure what her name is actually. Tried to call a few weeks ago about DD and was told she would call back. Chased it up three times and tben gave up. Havent heard of any food banks near here either :(

We have nothing to sell squeaky. We had a clear out in june and sold everything we could!

If we use the money DPs mum gives for petrol and food for DD that should take us to monday. Then I think we can apply for another crisis loan. Only way I can see to work it.

Tbh blackberry I switched off when it became clear that your priorities didnt seem to be on the same planet as mine. But thanks anyway.

BlackberryIce · 29/08/2012 12:50

Why aren't my priorities the same. Pre school could be missed for a few sessions!

Chictactoe · 29/08/2012 12:56

wannabe I dont have any advice but was in your position many years ago. I just wanted to send some support. I am very glad you managed to switch off to blackberry. Keep your chin up and think about taking some of the help people are offering and then "pay it forward" when you can Thanks

CumberdickBendybatch · 29/08/2012 13:02

BlackBerry did make one good suggestion - order from milk and more on account and pay back next week.
