WIBu retaliating re the rude woman in the carpark

Yesterday morning I went to the supermarket. I was in a hurry as I had to finish a pavlova to take to a friends party. The supermarket was packed and traffic was standing waiting for spaces (one in one out). I was politely queueing when a driver got into her car just ahead of me obviously about to vacate a space. I waited behind the space indicating left that I was waiting . I gave her enough room and time to manoevre out. As she was doing this I saw an old woman in a bettered car behind me trying to squeeze down the inside to pass me and making it difficult for the other driver. I hooted as she almost scraped my car. To my disbelief she then swung into the space I had patiently waited for. I wound down my window to state the obvious that she was taking my space. She replied "so what" . I said you can't do that, we are all waiting". She relied I can do what I like. Two other drivers who had witnessed this also got out of cars to back me up. I was livid. In the end the parking warden came to sort it out. He pointed out another space ahead now empty and asked me to park in it. I did . I returned to speak to the other woman (aged about 80, dark glasses and very snotty). She continued to be rude when I repeated that her behaviour was unacceptable, and rude. After finishing my shopping 10 minutes later I was still very shaken up and angry. I tool a carton of cream from my bag and dribbled the word RUDE on her windscreen before driving off.

OP posts:

I hate "old bag" too LadyBeagle - horrible, horrible phrase.

Lots of older people of that age start to have cognitive impairment (e.g. early stages of dementia or Alzheimers) and their personalities become very different. I have seen elderly relatives get ruder and grumpier as they succumb to these illnesses.

How depressing this thread is. In many ways.

saltnpepashere · 26/08/2012 19:50

I read the OP thinking 'oh god, another parking dispute' - however I got to the end and actually guffawed out loud at the cream bit! I really hope that bit is true!

Grin at 'getting her just desserts!'

StrawberryMojito · 26/08/2012 19:53

Ladybeagleeyes- obviously keying someone's car is criminal damage. Pouring cream on it is not.

LegArmpits · 26/08/2012 19:54

Waitrose car park by me is a bastard nightmare. Three times I have seen old women crash - one into a bollard, ripping off her entire bumper, another into another car, and one into my car while I was sat in it.
In every instance they've driven off without stopping or even a backwards glance.

Yika · 26/08/2012 19:54

YWDNBU. Fantastic riposte to outrageous rudeness. I'm inspired (thougthat palled by those who admit to keying cars).

Yika · 26/08/2012 19:55

'though appalled' I meant

wellwisher · 26/08/2012 19:55

I fell out with a woman in a holiday village once after she woke me up in the night with drunken shouting and then threatened me when I politely asked her to keep the noise down. The next day, I accidentally sprayed all the clothes she'd left on the washing line outside her bungalow with pepper spray.

So I say YANBU Grin

BlackberryIce · 26/08/2012 19:56

trying why should she have to buy all that? What if she had no money left?

MrsKeithRichards · 26/08/2012 19:57

Flora how the hell do you know someone isn't parked like that for a reason i.e. Someone else parking out of their box when they went to park?

You sound like a total twat for actually keying people's cars.

Unbelievable.

BlackberryIce · 26/08/2012 19:57

well you just happened to have pepper spray handy on holiday then?

hermioneweasley · 26/08/2012 19:58

I think that was brilliant. I wish I had the nerve to do something like that. Fr allow us who have walked away from rudeness just quite,y seething, may I thank you OP. I feel like you have rebalanced the universe.

floranora · 26/08/2012 20:00

HAHA! I couldn't care less if no one agrees with my post!

and no i am not jealous of new cars Confused I LOVE my car and could easily afford a new car if I wanted ( my DP is VERY well paid) but i love my old GTI.

wellwisher · 26/08/2012 20:00

BlackberryIce yes - was a while ago and I was travelling alone. Had been in some scary places, the holiday village place was meant to be a relaxing end to my trip... didn't think I'd need the pepper spray there but hey ho, it came in handy!

Salmotrutta · 26/08/2012 20:01

wellwisher - totally irresponsible and potentially dangerous.

wellwisher · 26/08/2012 20:01

Yup Grin

wellwisher · 26/08/2012 20:02

but so is threatening to bottle someone, so she got what she deserved!

Salmotrutta · 26/08/2012 20:02

flora - you should be locked up.

MrsKeithRichards · 26/08/2012 20:03

Flora it's not a case of disagreeing. It's disbelief that some fucking nut job is goin about keying cars because you assume they have parked stupidly.

You are a thug. Pure and simple. That, and a fucking arsehole. I've known some pretty nutty, proper head case beat-people-up type people and they don't behave like that.

You twat.

Or you're lying.

MrsFlippingHeck · 26/08/2012 20:07

OP loving your style. Don't worry, the police are far too busy to deal with dairy damage.

Holy shit Flora you can't key peoples cars for not being in the lines.

Blackberry If she had some windscreen cleaner in her wash bottle it would have emulsified the fat and washed it away no problem: It's not gloss paint you know.

tryingtonotfeckup · 26/08/2012 20:09

Blackberry, some people are rude because they think they can get away with it and make something as everyday as going to the supermarket unpleasant for other people, no one challenges them. The OP did, politely at first, then with cream.

Most people walk away muttering. I bet the OP does most of the time, this instance she didn't and good on her. If the old lady is going to be rude, she cannot cry over split milk and needs to take back some of what she gives. (Not as good as just desserts I know). If she has to put her hand in her pocket, so be it. I'm not advocating keying cars, its despicable.

So glad floranora has a well paid DP, not a solicitor is he?

Noqontrol · 26/08/2012 20:11

Yeah gotta agree with that MrsKeith.

You are a twat Flora. And a thug. And you sound a bit thick too. How would you feel if someone keyed your beloved GTI? I take it you would be completely happy with that?

PooPooOnMars · 26/08/2012 20:12

I did think "good for you" op!

I feel slightly uncomfortable about my initial reaction due to her age though.

floranora · 26/08/2012 20:14

if I parked like a twat then I would deserve it!

cocolepew · 26/08/2012 20:15

I got a 'you should learn to park' note left on my windscreen once, even though I was within the lines. I thought that was twatty but this takes the biscuit.

Keying cars? Really?

JustTheRightAmountOfWrong · 26/08/2012 20:18

Being old does not give one a right to be rude.

Not all elderly folk are sweet little old dears.

OP YANBU.
