£15.00 for me and dd!! That must mean £30.00 for a family of four! And this was 2D not 3D.

Is this really an acceptable price?

What did you spend on food! That's the most ridiculous expense of all. It is too expensive for sure.

Ploom · 22/08/2012 21:57

I agree - i have 3 dc and i think the last time we went was to Toy Story 3 so not in the last year. I dread when the dc ask - its just such a rip off.

Pedallleur · 22/08/2012 21:57

Normal. That's why Orange Wed. is your friend

LadySybildeChocolate · 22/08/2012 21:58

Are you not with Orange? It's buy one, get one free on Orange Wednesday.

FairyPenguin · 22/08/2012 21:58

Or use Tesco Clubcard vouchers if valid for your local cinema? Our one also does Sat morning kids films for £1 each.

bruffin · 22/08/2012 21:58

Dh and Ds have cineworld cards. They cost £15 a month and can go as many times as they want, but only takes 2 visits to break even.

Hairtodayandgonetomorrow · 22/08/2012 21:58

There are ways to reduce it, like tesco clubcard points and you can get tokens on the pick n mix pots in tesco so it works out £6 per ticket (plus you get all the sweets) - but you have to send off for them in advance.

I agree though, its extortionate. My friend pointed out that she got (standing) tickets to a ballet for the same price as the cinema!

orangeandlemons · 22/08/2012 21:59

I refuse point blank to pay £10.00 for a can of coke in the cinema. I take it all in with me Blush. Butthere were families of four there with nachos.popcorn. drinks.etc. Must have cost £50.00

RedBlanket · 22/08/2012 21:59

I remember when it used to be a cheap night out!
£30 sound about right, I take my own snacks as well.

bruffin · 22/08/2012 21:59

And on Orange Wednesday they can take someone else for free.

fivegomadindorset · 22/08/2012 21:59

You need to live where I live, £2.50 during the week, £3.50 at the weekend.

drcrab · 22/08/2012 21:59

It is ridiculous. I went with my DS who's 4 to Ice age4. Didn't realise that it was the 3D showing... We paid £20 for my ticket, his ticket and a child package of small popcorn, fruit shoot and smarties. Sad

We have a younger dd who will no doubt want to go to th cinema some time....

KateSpade · 22/08/2012 22:00

I witnessed once a group of 2 Adults and four children + 2 drinks and a popcorn which came to £60.00. I didn't know these people, but i honestly nearly told them how to stream the film online.

I was so shocked!

HumphreyCobbler · 22/08/2012 22:00

I don't go because it means paying for a babysitter as well.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 22/08/2012 22:01

We have Cineworld unlimited cards, so worth it. We see everything! 2x film a week on average = 8 films a month for the £15 card. We save a lot.

We also use the £1 Sat morning kids films and there is a really small independent cinema in the next town over that does all tickets 2D and 3D for £2 each.

orangeandlemons · 22/08/2012 22:02

I had to sit through the bloodyLorax which was crap too. Paying to watch crap!

OP posts:
McHappyPants2012 · 22/08/2012 22:02

not that i agree with it, but i can understand why people buy of knock off nigel

bronze · 22/08/2012 22:04

We all went to see brave the other day

Spur of the moment and we got a family ticket and two childrens tickets, came to about £50!!

Worth it though as last time I went was three years ago and the time before I was pregnant with ds1 who is 9
Dh has taken the older ones though

Mrsjay · 22/08/2012 22:04

we are adult prices if we all go to the cinema well dd2 gets the teen prices, I try and go before 5 during the week it ran in the holidays here at the VUE but rarely do we go to the cinema it costs a fortune, the daughters usually go with friends

bronze · 22/08/2012 22:05

Kate

This is why we have Netflix

Mrsjay · 22/08/2012 22:06

bloodyLorax which was crap too

is it rubbish < sad face > i loved horton hears a who Blush

Londonista1975 · 22/08/2012 22:06

I wouldn't be without my Cineworld Unlimited card! Such a fantastic bargain.

Always eat before you go in, and smuggle food and drinks in. The costs there are horrific.

DialsMavis · 22/08/2012 22:08

I took DS on Sunday, to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid which must have been out for a while as we were in a tiny screen with about 30 seats. It was £8 something for DS and £11 something for me Shock

KateSpade · 22/08/2012 22:09

I have recently received love film instant through the internet connection we have. Its not as good as netflix, but am hopefully planning to see Keith Lemon the film on friday.

& I always use orange wednesday, and go with my mum & She pays.

I honestly can't believe how expensive it is. Its about £9.00 to go to a 3D film at my local cinema!

MrsKeithRichards · 22/08/2012 22:10

I would have a pass in an instant but drive past five other cinemas to get ti our nearest cineworld
