To think that my neighbour should stop cooking strong smelling curry?

Because it smells just like chip shop curry sauce and they don't do that right where I live so I can't even go and buy chips and curry sauce to satisfy the craving that it's giving me. Not pregnant, just hungry for grease.

'Snot fair.

Go round and ask for some. Smile

SoleSource · 21/08/2012 17:34

Nick her cooking pot and.blame the dog.

BadgersRetreat · 21/08/2012 17:36

family next to ours are Turkish and the smells that waft over the garden fence some days make me want to knock on her door and ask for a bowlful the recipe

NaturalNature · 21/08/2012 17:37

Become best friends with her so she'll either a) feed you or b) give you the recipe

AmberLeaf · 21/08/2012 17:38

I was all set to say YABU and intolerant etc!

Now I realise you're just jealous and hungry!

Compliment the cook they may take pity on you and give you some.

MyLastDuchess · 21/08/2012 17:39

Badgers, our flat shares a balcony with a Moroccan family. Both of our kitchens have doors that open onto the balcony. Their dinner almost always smells MUCH nicer than ours, I feel quite embarrassed sometimes! Wink

BadgersRetreat · 21/08/2012 17:43

hahah MyLast - yes that's it exactly! I think i'm a good cook till i get a waft of theirs!

i walked home from the bus with the Mum the other day for the first time - i think i would be brave enough to ask for a recipe now i 'know' her the next time something delicious is brewing there....

Evasmum12 · 21/08/2012 17:43

a regular customer at the pub I work in brings in samples of his curries for everyone, because people could smell it walking past his house and kept asking about it. So go for it, If you don't ask you don't get!

NarkedRaspberry · 21/08/2012 17:43

Do you think she might be unsettled if I stood outside her window sniffing? Grin

She's in her late 60s/ early 70s - so no chance of DC breaking the ice - and I only know her to nod and smile at in the street. I wonder if she has a single son. I'm sure DH would understand. [need curry]

Better than the fried kippers next door ....I have to shut all the windows, it makes me retch.

McHappyPants2012 · 21/08/2012 17:47

yanbu, i bet it taste rubbish any way

NarkedRaspberry · 21/08/2012 17:47

My father went through a stage of having kippers every weekend for breakfast. For about 4 years. The smell sank into the paintwork.

Farmfoods do a frozen curry sauce sachet, probably a bit cheap and nasty but it tastes just like the chippy one!

NarkedRaspberry · 21/08/2012 17:49

It smells far too good to taste bad. You have inspired me. Next time I see her I'll ask what she was cooking.

NettOlympicSuperstar · 21/08/2012 17:51

My downstairs neighbour cooks cheap garlic bread and scotch pies, and it smells nasty she also shags loudly which is gross
I cook delicious smelling meals.

LadyBeagleEyes · 21/08/2012 17:51

Pop round and say that it smells delicious and can you have the recipe.
Then they may give you a taste and you've made friends of your neighbours.
Win win.

thisisyesterday · 21/08/2012 17:52

make friends with them they might give you some.
my (very lucky) friend lives next door to an Indian lady who often brings round food for her. I am quite Envy no-one brings me food :(

scentednappyhag · 21/08/2012 17:52

I have the same 'problem' with the people who live below me- curled up in bed at 10pm, BAM, smell wafts in and I'm starving! Grin

Mrsjay · 21/08/2012 17:53

I always smell soup on a sunday I never make soup in the summer (pfft summer) I cant work out who is making it but I sniff the air like a bloodhound Grin

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 21/08/2012 17:56

Go and sit on her doorstep with big puppy dog eyes and an empty bowl between your teeth. She'll either get the idea, or hit you with a broom, but thats the risk you take.

Million times better than our neighbours who ate a lot of fried fish and offal. Which they would cook first thing in the morning so the smell would linger allllll day. Yummy.

My mum used to cook up all sorts for the dog, and even that smelled nicer.

So happy when they left and took the sodding kareoke machine with them

AllYoursBabooshka · 21/08/2012 18:12

You should buy the curry paste. I always have some on standby for when I get a curry craving.

Midnight onion and curry sandwich... Yum!

Yes I am gross.
