nowadays seem to believe that all hair on their bodies must be waxed off entirely.

I know some people say they prefer it but IME young girls ALL seem to think it's normal to be totally hair free. WHY??

AIBU to think this is terribly sad that they are put under this pressure to wax it all off all the time.

We are talking about British/western culture. I don't think that is likely to be true no, but japenese people make up a tiny minority of Britain anyway

fartattack · 18/08/2012 19:53

funny how earlier eveyone was saying they have no idea whether their friends wax or not now lots of posts saying which of their friends do and don't Wink

It was just a pic of a basic bikini bottom.

Debeez · 18/08/2012 19:57

Debeez go into a shop! Any shop. Look at the swimwear. See that most of it is cut like that. The fuck are you shopping!?

I see lots of women when I go swimming. Various shapes, sizes and ages. And although I don't make a point of leveling down to their crotch area ( it comes under the no petting rule apparently) none of them look like they're being given cunnilingus by Kevin Keegan. They seem to manage to get covered with a nice swimsuit. I've really never had this problem even when I've been growing a fro down there.

With Agilchrist, the use of most and all is basically bullshit for I don't know how many but I want to make a point.

CouthyMow · 18/08/2012 19:58

My 14yo shaved her legs for the first time this week. Not for boys, not because she feels pressure to conform, but because, in her words "They look like skinny gorilla legs", she wanted to wear shorts, a miracle in itself as she hasn't shown her legs since she was about 18mo, through choice (hates skirts and dresses).

Then again, she's not an identikit teenager. She is more on the alternative/goth/punk end, and as soon as she finishes Y11 she wants to dye her hair pillar box red. She wears Purple flowery DM's!

She REALLY didn't shave to fit in with some 'ideal' for a boy, she did it because she doesn't like feeling like a gorilla!

If she asked for a spray tan, I think I'd keel over!

Debeez · 18/08/2012 19:59

They're all full briefs Krumbum

Scheherezade · 18/08/2012 20:04

"All over" ? As in, hair and eyebrows?!

Kayano · 18/08/2012 20:04

Krum that would absolutely cover the pubic area of loads of people!!! I'd go so far as to say most!

Krumbum · 18/08/2012 20:04

Couthymow. Why is it boys are ok with looking like 'a hairy gorilla' then?
Being alternative doesn't make you immune to beauty standards.

Scheherezade · 18/08/2012 20:05

What about eyelashes, I bet that's difficult to wax, but if OP is sure...

..because I can't imagine someone getting so upset about pubic hair.

Krumbum · 18/08/2012 20:06

Untrimmed, natural pubic hair? If you moved at all It would show.

samandi · 18/08/2012 20:06

Young girls generally are pretty hair free.

BeeBee12 · 18/08/2012 20:12

Even untrimmed it wouldnt show on most.I thought you were originally talking more porn star high cut thong or something

Debeez · 18/08/2012 20:13

They look well elasticated, I've found that usually keeps it in. Although the animal print one does look like it's a peephole bra due to the reflection of the light, that made me double take.

bronze · 18/08/2012 20:16

When I was 16 I had a bloke take the piss out of my pubes. I wasn't even showing him, I was wearing a skirt and they tipped me upside down.
It meant that when I slept with someone for the first time aged 19 I shaved myself first. i didn't need to. He was a nice bloke and didn't mind either way. He's now my DH
Annoying thing is that one shave made my hair grow back wilder and wider spread. Wish I had never done it and I never would have if it hadn't been for that prick on my holiday.

Kayano · 18/08/2012 20:18

I must have naturally quite tame pubes then! Honestly would not show if I moved!!! I wouldn't think twice about buying those!

Krumbum · 18/08/2012 20:18

Bronze that guy is prick.
But shaving doesn't actually make hair grow back thicker that is an urban myth.

bronze · 18/08/2012 20:18

theyre weren't even sticking out of my knickers, he could just see the bounce so to speak. Even now I can wear high leg briefs and they dont show and they're much worse than they were that day

Krumbum · 18/08/2012 20:19

I'm not crazy hairy but my pubes would show in those!
My other points still stand though lol.

Clytaemnestra · 18/08/2012 20:20

I remember a rather drunken conversation in a mixed group at a party a few years ago, where we established that men (or at least the ones in that group) felt that totally shaved on women was not attractive and in fact was reminiscent of "the last chicken in the shop". However, blokes trimmed because it made their dicks look bigger.

The impression on this thread that ALL men like it and that's really not the case.

Debeez · 18/08/2012 20:20

Sorry Krum, I've lost track a bit. What other point?

AGilchrist · 18/08/2012 20:23

I, my mum and sil all must all have tame small coverage pubs.
I have honestly never had that problem, even when I haven't trimmed.

AGilchrist · 18/08/2012 20:25

Even if you do 'hang out' and don't want to, you can buy the short type bikini bottoms.

BeeBee12 · 18/08/2012 20:26

From talking with dh and when in group conversations clytaemenstra is what most men I have known have said to.
