OP posts:
TheCrackFox · 11/08/2012 22:23

I thought it was going to be a bag of shite but I have to say I have absolutely loved it.

ViviPru · 11/08/2012 22:24

splashing the cash sitting uneasily in such times of 'austerity'

S'all about Brand Britain though isn't it. I think it's made us look aces and reinforced us as an epicentre for innovation and creativity. Which, let's face it, it all we have to trade on.

SoleSource · 11/08/2012 22:24

Rio next nut the coverage on telly is minimal.

ViviPru · 11/08/2012 22:25

Ooh Brian Just seen your NC! Congratulations :)

NameChangeGalore · 11/08/2012 22:25

I wasnt a doubter. It's the Olympics, of course it was going to be brilliant. Where is it held next ? Will I have to wake up at silly o clock to watch it?

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 11/08/2012 22:26

I know, Vivi, I just have this twisting pit of rage in my stomach when I think 'but that cash could have been spent on xyz'

I can't help it.

Brand Britain, all for it - let's hope it comes up trumps and proves me wrong!

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 11/08/2012 22:26

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 11/08/2012 22:26

Grin thanks Vivi

skateboarder · 11/08/2012 22:28

Yanbu!!
I knew it would be good, but it was fantastic.
We have loved watching it and going along. Ds (4) said his favourite was beach volleyball. (Ladies of course!)

WorraLiberty · 11/08/2012 22:29

NameChangeGalore it's in Rio next

wouldratherbeonthebeach · 11/08/2012 22:31

Loved every minute of it and even better my ds3 is 7 and has been totally hooked SmileSmileSmile

PedroPonyLikesCrisps · 11/08/2012 22:31

Zigzag: Ahem... Here goes:
There was a young fellow named Mo,
Whose talent did nothing but grow,
He ran for gold twice,
And it was really nice,
When he won it both times WAY TO GO!

PedroPonyLikesCrisps · 11/08/2012 22:32

There once was a young lad named Tom,
Who dropped off a plank like a bomb,
They trained him real good,
To dive like he should,
And he went and won bronze with aplomb!

PedroPonyLikesCrisps · 11/08/2012 22:33

There once was a boxer named Luke,
Who fought like a military nuke,
He got in the ring,
And just did his thing,
His gold medal was no bloody fluke!

SoleSource · 11/08/2012 22:34

The guy with GO MO with each word written on the soles of his feet was funny.

TheDoctrineOfEnnis · 11/08/2012 22:34

COngrats Brian!

manicinsomniac · 11/08/2012 22:34

YANBU, I have adored every second. Lots of tears and cheers, I had no idea I was so patriotic.

Good of you to admit the cynicism was wrong too, some of those threads were so annoying!

LadyLetch · 11/08/2012 22:35

I wasn't dreading it, we got tickets for the gymnastics, but that turned into a real debacle. We got our tickets from abroad, and it was a nightmare because of disorganisation. I was then exasperated and more than a little worried.

But then I saw the opening ceremony, and just wow! Our day at the gymnastics was fantastic, and it was organised so well. I came away really impressed. I've ended up watching it every day, and usually I hate sport!! I've had a fab 2 weeks and am really going to miss it!

JammySplodger · 11/08/2012 22:35

I've been blown away by it. We're catching the bus into town tomorrow to see Jessica Ennis's gold post box and will go and wave if she has a homecoming. I'll support my boys in whatever sport they take to and it's inspired me to get off my backside too.

NameChangeGalore · 11/08/2012 22:36

Thanks worraliberty. Did you manage to use YOLO in your conversations today then? Wink

ElephantsCanRemember · 11/08/2012 22:36

I have loved it! I really do think it has been awe inspiring. They all congratulate each other and feel so happy to just be there, and are so humble when talking to the press about how it is down to their parents/teachers/coaches/physios etc. I have shed more than a few tears the last two weeks.
Can't wait for the paralympics too.
Congratulations Brian Grin

AgentZigzag · 11/08/2012 22:36
