Ok, so I know team GB are doing great in the Olympics but come on for f**ks sake ITV....we've had about 4 Olympic stories before Tia Sharp has been mentioned ! Am I the only one that thinks a little missing girl is more important than the Olympic bloody games !?

It's all over the news now a bodies been found, which was my point in the beginning. The police and media work together so if the police need to keep things quiet the media co operate. Now the bodies found the media can report as much as they want.
I'm really surprised that people don't understand this and think the Olympics was headlines for financial reasons.

Spidering · 10/08/2012 18:10

*body's

JumpingThroughHoops · 10/08/2012 18:18

The police release what they need to release to the media. I only spotted this thread a few mins back, I knew about the cadaver dogs 2 hours before the police authorised press coverage.

Shullbit · 10/08/2012 18:24

Well Marne, I just hope to god that you, or anybody else for that matter, never find yourselves in the situation Tia's mother is and have many people who think they know everything, pointing and blaming you for your Childs disappearance/murder.

It is a poor child we are on about here. Not Eastenders. I truly believe that making judgements and speculating online etc is in bad taste.

Gosh, you're right Marne. I'm sure the police didn't think to search the house at the start and there's no chance the body wasn't moved there.

Fourfingerkitkat · 10/08/2012 18:41

hmc - read the post, my point was that the olympics were taking priority over this child's disappearance, not that her disappearance had failed to be reported by the media.

Shullbit

I think we all as a society need to wake up actually to these things and do more speculating and thinking and wondering ....

I think people are now given too much benfit of the doubt. We all need to be more aware and watch children around us - we are all responsible.

CrispyCod · 10/08/2012 19:01

What spidering said.

Spidering · 10/08/2012 19:01

Eliza I agree I think we need to keep an eye out for kids before they go missing. Ie if it's a dysfunctional family do something about it before it comes to this. If you have any concerns let someone know maybe one day you could prevent a tragedy like this.

Shullbit · 10/08/2012 19:04

Thinking and wondering is fair enough, but to do it out loud when a family is in turmoil and point the finger at them is despicable IMO. They are going through enough as it is.

You can keep your eyes open without blaming anyone, especially when you don't actually know all the facts.

Shullbit · 10/08/2012 19:05

And whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? You can't just go around accusing people of kidnapping/murder etc without any facts. Thank god some people aren't in the police force.

PenisVanLesbian · 10/08/2012 19:08

Well you can actually, since no-one here is going to arrest anyone, people can accuse whoever of whatever.
Especially when a blind and deaf monkey can tell what happened, and could have done a week ago.

Shullbit · 10/08/2012 19:11

I meant (in my reply to the last two posters about keeping an eye out) that in RL you can't just walk around accusing people of kidnapping/murder etc without facts.

Well, yes, you are still right. You can, but it is so so wrong to do so. Many of innocents would be condemned that way.

Spidering · 10/08/2012 19:30

What I meant shullbit was that there are times when something doesn't sit right with you- you should do something about it rather than bury your head in the sand. Not everyone is a kidnapper or murderer but thinking everyone is Mary poppins is prob not the right attitude either.
I agree the family are prob going through hell now but
a. I haven't slagged them off
b.id be very concerned if they were in AIBU whilst they are going through all of this, so it's unlikely our discussion will upset them at this time
c.by having an awareness of what goes on in the real world we can protect children.
But I do respect your right to your own opinions and I can see where you are coming from.

Mrbojangles1 · 10/08/2012 19:33

I watched teh granddad being interviews on the news by a reporter i think and the whole thing was bizzaer to say the least

Shullbit · 10/08/2012 19:39

I wasn't saying you had slagged them off. I just don't understand it when people say "Hmmm...if it was me, I wouldn't be thinking of t shirts therefore something is fishy" type comments when they don't know who actually has sorted the t shirts out.

And I am not saying they would, but I highly doubt it is only on this site that others are making these comments on. Once gossip starts, especially once it gets to those in the town who know these families, it can be hell when they believe the gossip and start throwing accusations and being cruel to the family.

All I am saying is that if it was me and my child had gone missing, the last thing I would want to be subjected to was crowds fuelled with hatred accusing me left right and centre when all I would want was my boy back.

I rather hope they aren't ever selected for jury service either.

We have seen it before, but it doesn't mean the mother is responsible in this case (and apart from being shite at judging people, and at worse being a complete selfish fuckwit, it looks like she wasn't involved in her murder). For others who have no clue whatsoever and make stupid comments about how they wouldn't do x, y or z (I mean, who actually knows what you would do if it happened? You would be in turmoil, shock etc and those things can lead you to behave and react in a way you wouldn't usually do) that makes me roll my eyes and think it isn't on. You can't hang the mother out to dry for (possibly) ordering t shirts because that isn't what you would do.

I agree though, the Grandmothers house should of been fully searched to begin with.

hmc · 10/08/2012 20:50

I did read your post thank you four fingers - there is more detail to report in the Olympics, sparse details that can reasonably reported on the girls disappearance. Irrespective of the importance of this particular investigation ( and obv it is important) it's hard to see how it could have been made into a 10 minute news item. It has been appropriately reported and Yabu

Marne · 10/08/2012 20:54

I havn't even thought about the mothers involvement and dont feel anyone should judge until we know more. No one has been arrested and at the moment the only suspect is the grandmothers partner.

I do agree with you about the t-shirt thing, i dont think it really has anything to do with being linked to the parents being involved. In the MM case din't they wear t-shirts at one point (i maybe wrong)?

The fact is, quite often in cases like this (murder cases) its someone well known to the victim that comited the murder.

Lets just hope the police now have their heads screwed on and they find the grandmothers partner.

JumpingThroughHoops · 10/08/2012 20:57

Hes been caught and arrested

I agree Spider, just watched him in an interview where he said how much he loved her (like his own daughter) and what ever she wanted she got, he seemed very smug Sad.
