Mother taught me this...

Totally agree. Plain weddind band and cufflinks only.

Tralalalalz · 04/08/2017 15:39

Plain very slim platinum or white gold wedding band and a simple watch are all the only jewellery I can bear on a man. My DH doesn't even wear a wedding ring, just a watch

MistressDeeCee · 04/08/2017 15:50

OH is a bit blingy. He has some lovely jewellery pieces, hes from a country famed for its purity of gold. I did laugh when I met him..not used to Bling Kings. It suits his character tho. IDGAF what anyone may think about his style. He's a good hardworking guy, kind, respectful, you'd never ever hear him speaking about or to a woman in derogatory fashion. There are more things a woman can fuss about in a man than jewellery, thats for sure

Sgtmajormummy · 04/08/2017 15:50

DH and I both wear a ring on our third finger, right hand.
Mine is a 4-band Russian wedding ring with our names and the DCs' engraved inside.
His is made of the gold from his parents' wedding bands, melted down into a "B" profile ring.
Nothing tacky about that.

Magpiemagpie · 04/08/2017 16:18

My husband wears an expensive Breitling watch that I bought him for his 50th & he bought himself a gold Rolex diamond ring and a plain thick gold chain for his 50th birthday

It actually suits him , although at the time I did think he was going through a mid life crisis and was waiting for him to by a motorbike

Pigface1 · 04/08/2017 16:23

Agreed. Wedding ring and watch only.

I also really hate this fashion for super chunky wedding rings on men?! They're everywhere. I work with a guy who has tiny tiny Donald Trump hands and his huge chunky wedding ring makes his hands look even smaller.

midnightmisssuki · 04/08/2017 16:24

I don't mind a nice watch - my husband wears one and occasionally his wedding band. That's it though.

NoWittyNamesAvailable · 04/08/2017 16:27

Why do people dislike yellow gold so much? I can only wear yellow gold as white gold and silver cause a very uncomfortable skin reaction. Can't quite afford platinum to try yet.

However, i agree that other than a wedding band and a watch jewellery looks awful on men!

TroysMammy · 04/08/2017 16:27

I once went on a date and he turned up wearing three, gold chains, and a ring on nearly every finger. There was no second date. He may as well worn grey joggers too. Urgh.

samG76 · 04/08/2017 16:27

Agree wedding ring, cuff links and watch only, though DH doesn't have the former. I think signet rings are okay also, but shouldn't be chunky. Definitely no chains, bracelets, or chain watches.

TroysMammy · 04/08/2017 16:29

Shit, I didn't check either.

ScaramangasThirdNipple · 04/08/2017 16:30

Why do people dislike yellow gold so much?

It's just out of fashion. But it will be on its way back in soon and then platinum will become the dated thing. Personally I'm not a fan of platinum, it loses its shine so quickly and just looks like stainless steel.

RainbowsAndUnicorn · 04/08/2017 16:34

A nice watch and a simple wedding band. Everything else just looks tacky. Especially earnings.

I hate too much jewellery on men or women. A decent watch is nice though.
I dont wear anything, only a watch. I love watches.
Blingy stuff isnt in now is it? I thought it had died out a bit.

My dh has had a motorbike for years but he doesnt go for the whole biker jewellery thing! No knuckle dusters here thank goodness.

gingertigercat · 04/08/2017 17:06

Man jewellery makes me shudder. No rational reason.

The80sweregreat · 04/08/2017 17:10

The worst is a bare chest, thick chains and rings and loads of tattoos.
Dh and ds1 have small tattoos and i even hate them.
I know you shouldnt judge a book and all that, but it just looks aggressive!

MaQueen · 04/08/2017 19:33

Err...my engagement and wedding rings are platinum, with a top quality diamond solitaire. About as far from tacky as it's possible to get...

thekillers · 04/08/2017 19:42

& he bought himself a gold Rolex diamond ring and a plain thick gold chain for his 50th birthday

That would lead to divorce in this household

The only acceptable male jewellery other than a watch and wedding ring is bracelets made by your children (pasta, weaving etc)

sofato5miles · 04/08/2017 19:46

I like jewellery on men (but not earrings, don't know why). Makes me think that they are a bit exotic compared to my verr MC boring and conventional upbringing.

alpacasandwich · 04/08/2017 19:59

I wasn't keen in the past. Then I met my ex, who wears a silver chain, nice watch and a couple of silver Thomas Sabo rings.

I used to like finding the rings in the bathroom next to his aftershave and trying them on (they were massive). Now jewellery on men just makes me feel a bit wistful.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 08/08/2017 01:09

I have no issue with men wearing wedding rings if they want to - DH chose to have one but my Dad doesn't.

I don't mind leather necklace things or wrist things (bit hippy, I have no issue with that).

What I don't like is the thick ostentatious gold chains that look like they'd knock you out if they swung in your face, ditto the huge signet/sovereign rings.

But each to their own.

FixItUpChappie · 08/08/2017 01:27

I love men with a nice solid silver/white gold ring, leather wrist wraps, a big manly watches - all very appealing IMO.
