Are you talking about a bowl of jelly? Maybe they didn't realise that it shouldn't be given to a vegan.

FWIW it can be very difficult feeding someone who has put such constraints on their diet.

Sassybeast · 06/08/2012 22:51

Was it deliberate or an oversight?

cybbo · 06/08/2012 22:51

Call the police

MadgeHarvey · 06/08/2012 22:52

It was probably a mistake - not everyone knows the gelatine thing. In any event it's done now, nobody's dead and a gentle word with your friend will be much more helpful than you going right off on one don't you think?

GhostShip · 06/08/2012 22:52

Leave the bastard.

FeakAndWeeble · 06/08/2012 22:52

Damnit, Ghost got there first. Now I have nothing useful to say.

lisad123 · 06/08/2012 22:52

Did you tell her she wasn't allowed it?

MadgeHarvey · 06/08/2012 22:52

I am vegetarian. I probably accidently eat some gelatine at times when well meaning friends give me meals. In the grand scheme of life it isn't that importnat is it?

Not worth losing good friends over.

Sirzy · 06/08/2012 22:53

Unless they force fed your child against their will, or eating it accidentally will cause your child physical harm then YABU I very much doubt it was done deliberatly

SirBoobAlot · 06/08/2012 22:54

Have a fun-free Biscuit

giraffesCantTakePartInThe100ms · 06/08/2012 22:54

Unless the food was a big mac then YABU

SandStorm · 06/08/2012 22:54

You 'think'? You need to find out for sure before flying off on one!

SDTGisAnOlympicWolefGenius · 06/08/2012 22:54

If the friend isn't vegan, maybe they didn't realise that gelatine was a problem. If it was a genuine accident, and they are sorry about it, then I think you ought to forgive and forget. But if it was deliberate and/or they aren't sorry, then YWNBU to be upset.

Sassybeast · 06/08/2012 22:55

There's gelatine in a big mac???????????????????????

FeakAndWeeble · 06/08/2012 22:55

I think this is a drip feed. The OPs gonna come back in a minute and say it was a Greggs sausage roll.

MadgeHarvey · 06/08/2012 22:55

Hope that's a low fat, gluten free, no additive, fat free, sugar free, vegan, halal and kosher Biscuit there SirBoob

GhostShip · 06/08/2012 22:55

Christ I was quicker than someone for once :o

In all seriousness though OP it's not like they manevolantly stirred it in cackling all the way....

Spammertime · 06/08/2012 22:55

Is this a "well wafer thin ham isn't meat" sort of person (in which case I'd be annoyed, but not furious, and would maybe try to nicely let her know next time what is and isn't ok), or a "I know best and that child needs proper food" sort of person, in which case I don't think YABU!

LingDiLong · 06/08/2012 22:55

Depends, was it a genuine mistake? Or did she deliberately feed him something you'd explicitly asked her not to?

MedalsTrumpDiamonds · 06/08/2012 22:55

Just out of interest, what if the OP was kosher or halal or whatever?

giraffesCantTakePartInThe100ms · 06/08/2012 22:56

Was it a jelly sweet?

MadgeHarvey · 06/08/2012 22:56

If the OP was kosher or halal or whatever the mistake would still have been made and still nobody would be dead.

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 06/08/2012 22:57

will OP come back? Or just watch whilst poster after poster repeat one another.
