I do, but, only because I got so sick of fucking builders chalk clogging up the washing machine..
Also I keep any money that I find!

getmeoutofthismadhouse · 31/07/2012 17:27

NO , we have this "conversation" regularly , especially after I have fished something out of his pockets ! He's had his ipod washed (and dried , I was extra kind!) twice , his wallet , tobacco , numerous lighters .... he knows now if it's in his pockets it gets wet lol !

lambethlil · 31/07/2012 17:27

Usually- he know not to rely on me doing it, and it'd be his fault of anything trashed is his fault...

BTW it is extremely east to renew by phone too.

OwlLady · 31/07/2012 17:30

i have never checked, he is an adult

I don't always do the washing either :)

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/07/2012 17:34

I do everytime I do a wash. It's easier than doing a de-fluff session.

Petsinmyolympicpudenda · 31/07/2012 17:39

He does do his own pockets because i've washed two iphones of hisBlush

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 31/07/2012 17:46

I do, and I check his shirt collars to make sure he hasn't left the little collar bone things in there.

99% of the time there is nothing there because he has checked, as he should. I only check as a back up, and because I can't face the PITA of picking tissues off an entire wash if one has got left in a pocket.

He wouldn't dream of getting angry because I didn't check and something important got washed though.

CasperGutman · 31/07/2012 18:06

I find tissues left in pockets just form a lump rather than spreading bits everywhere. Presumably depends what kind they are. It's the main reason I only buy mansize Kleenex (cheap from Costco).

TrudiRed · 31/07/2012 18:07

I usually do - and pocket any cash he's left in there! Comes in handy for the odd coffee or snack when I'm out and about (not that he has a problem with me having it - I'm a sahm so its all 'his' money I'm spending anyway - although f course its all 'ours' anyway). The only time he didn't I discovered his iPod Touch at the bottom of the machine at the end of the cycle! His fault? Yes it was his iTouch in his pocket but to be fair I do normally check.

WelshMaenad · 31/07/2012 18:08

Of course. Where else will I find my laundry wages? slyly pockets rogue fiver

ModreB · 31/07/2012 18:09

No, because I don't do his washing. He is old enough and capable enough to do his own.

Pascha · 31/07/2012 18:09

God no. He is entirely responsible for removing random crap from his pockets. Tough shit if he doesn't because the only job I will do with them is ram them into the machine along with a hundred other clothes. He knows this, and is actually very good. We've never washed anything important.

mynewpassion · 31/07/2012 18:10

I always check all the clothes. Could ruin the washing machine.

I don't. He's a grown man, he can do it himself.

Last week out of our wash came a rear bike light and a small wrench.

DizzyKipper · 31/07/2012 18:13

Whilst as far as he knows I don't, yes I do still check most of the time. Whilst I've made it very clear to him several times it's on him to empty his pockets and his responsibility if anything gets ruined, the reality is it will keep on slipping his mind regardless of how often I remind him.

amillionyears · 31/07/2012 18:18

um,no and yes actually
No,he does his work trousers as he has important stuff in there and I am not putting my hands through that mucky lot ,and yes,I empty his going out trouser pockets.

Nuttyprofessor · 31/07/2012 18:23

He does the laundry but thanks for the reminder my car tax runs out tonight.

No, he does his own washing. I am his wife not his mother!

LulaPalooza · 31/07/2012 18:36

squeakytoy I also washed Mr Palooza's passport... he's not a UK citizen and his passport contains his visa... this was shortly before we were due to go on holiday too and we were paranoid he wouldn't be allowed back into the UK! We ironed each page of his passport, it actually looks ok.

After that little incident I double triple check his pockets, as he often has his passport on him for work. He's supposed to check his own but I find all sorts in his pockets.

I've never thought to ask if he checks my pockets when he does a wash... but then I don't like having stuff in my pockets so it's unlikely he'd find anything.

I like the Finders Keepers policy...

Its not petty, its just how we always did it and never saw any reason to change. He has alot of clothes and they are all dark colours so he waits until he has a bagful and does a load. Whoever is nearest the washer when it needs going on does the kids, and alot of mine is hand or special wash only so I do mine.

I would do it if it was needed, but i would resent the expectation that it should be my job!

PiousPrat · 31/07/2012 18:54

I do a quick check of all pockets before chucking anything in the wash. In theory everyone checks their own, in practice we all often forget.

I average £3 or so a week in pocket pennies.
