it comes to achieving equal treatment, respect and status with men?

I'm thinking olympic beach volleyball for starters

FreudianSlipper · 30/07/2012 11:36

no

top sports women wearing an outfit that they would wear on the beach if they were playing volleyball

whats the problem? or is it not their outfits you are talking about

JuliaScurr · 30/07/2012 11:37

not while Peter Stringfellow is still alive, they're not

FutTheShuckUp · 30/07/2012 11:42

Not so much the olympic volleyball situation but certainly with women who seem to want to aspire to be a pair of false breasts/bleached hair/tango tan on legs to pander to the current desires of shallow men.

Touche! Fair point!

I'd forgotten about Peter Stringfellow - I saw him on Come Dine With Me and his kitchen sink broke - I wonder if he's had it fixed yet?

My driving instructor used to say a bad driver is usually fine until they meet another bad driver.

I don't know for how long we're stuck with shallow men - but likewise, I think they're manageable until they meet shallow women - and vice versa.

Absolutely. It's all women's fault. Using our tremendous collective wealth, power, and status, it's just unbelievable we've not made things much better. It's not like men have culturally and historically been given more power than women, or that they don't still control more wealth than women ... really, we are being very silly! And no doubt, shrill!

If only these ladies would cover up proper, more like that charming gel from Saudi Arabia, we'd be home dry and CEOs of all the Footsie 100 companies.

thepeoplesprincess · 30/07/2012 11:56

YANBU.

You never would've seen Sally Gunnell getting her tits out in the lad's mags, and I applaud her all the more for it.

WorraLiberty · 30/07/2012 11:57

I love all the fuss and comments made about the women's volley ball team...made (as always) mainly by women?!

It's not illegal or immoral for men/women to find them attractive you know Grin

Mrsjay · 30/07/2012 12:00

WorraLiberty · 30/07/2012 12:02

Mrsjay · 30/07/2012 12:04

Tom Daley is looking super tanned and has superwhite teeth I noticed maybe he should be pale and wear longer trunks when he does his dive ,

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 30/07/2012 12:05

I am sitting waiting for Tom already.

WorraLiberty · 30/07/2012 12:06

And I don't remember Linford Christie covering up his packed lunch with baggy shorts either...

cantspel · 30/07/2012 12:07

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 30/07/2012 12:08

This!!

I would oggle Tom Daley but it feels a bit wrong as I'm old enough to be his mum.........I'll see if theres anyone a bit older I can oggle instead :)

KellyElly · 30/07/2012 12:14

thepeoplesprincess Sally Gunnell wtf, I doubt any lads mags would have been banging down her door to be fair.

There are male atheletes who pose in mags now and do photo shoots in womens magazines you know OP. Not everything has to become some feminist issue, female inequality etc. Maybe some women like false breasts, fake tan etc for THEMSELVES because they think it looks good. What about men who have lipo, pecs enlarged, penis enlargement, botox etc etc - are they also pandering to shallow looks obsessed women. If that's what people want to look like and it makes them feel good, leave them to it and stop judging them.

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 30/07/2012 12:15

I'm old enough to be his granny. Shock

WorraLiberty · 30/07/2012 12:19

I'll probably get shot down in flames and thrown into the Olympic cauldron...but I do think there are some MNetters amongst us whose real problem is they just don't like their DH's finding the women's volley ball team attractive Grin

But of course, let's go with the "I want all Olympians to be taken seriously for their sport and that's why I don't like the outfits" Wink

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 30/07/2012 12:21

Worra - I dont mind if DH were to find them attractive....which he does....I know for a fact he could never run fast enough to catch em :)

thepeoplesprincess · 30/07/2012 12:22

I don't have an H, "d" or otherwise so count me out of that little dig....

Grin
FutTheShuckUp · 30/07/2012 12:22

Dont be ridiculous worra.
Some women just don't like the blatant sexualisation of other women because it makes life harder for them.
And what a catty comment about Sally Gunell another prime example of the attitude you are only as good as you look

WorraLiberty · 30/07/2012 12:22

Haha Betty and considering how hard they can smack balls...well I doubt he'd want to Grin

MrsKeithRichards · 30/07/2012 12:24

I feel a bit wrong perving on Tom.
