ok a bit ranty really!
im 40wks 5days pg today.. so huge and bloody uncomfortable!
i've got a midwife apt at 10, so was just talking to a 'friend' about having coffee after, ( we both have 2 yr old DS, so kids can play).
she said I should 'get on with it as this baby's going to be 20lb at this rate... and you remember the trouble you had having DS!'
like im not nervous enough already!!
(background DS was a big baby at 9lb 5oz, was born normally, but the stitch up job was extensive.........)
and oh how people love to say how 2nd
babies are always bigger.....
So aibu to want to say f off to the world if you havent got something helpful to say?

Nothing you do at 40wk+5 is unreasonable so YANBU. Hope your waters break all over her.

ChitchatAtHome · 30/07/2012 09:11

A absolutely YANBU!!!!

Tell her 'thanks for being so bloody helpful and supportive DF!!!' with a Hmm look on your face.

CeliaFate · 30/07/2012 09:13

Pop round to her house when you feel a twinge coming on, hopefully you'll vomit on her sofa Grin.
YANBU - I was ready to kill anyone who said anything to me at that point. My personal favourite was, "Oh, still not had it then?"
Yes, actually I've given birth, left the baby at home and decided to stuff a pillow up my top to waddle to your shop. Dickheads.

lagoonhaze · 30/07/2012 09:16

Yanbu

Apparently bigger babies are easier to birth. My 8lb 6oz was a breeze compared to first labour (horrendous)

Have confidence that your body can do it, think positive thoughts and relax.

Good luck. Not long now!

sleepsforwimps2010 · 30/07/2012 09:20

oh god.... I want to kill the ' havent you had her yet' people!!!!
plus my phone rings every 2seconds, 'any news?' PISS OFF!!!!
And god if I dont answer... because im on the loo or tending to DS then everyone panics! yesterday I missed a call from my DM and within 8 mins I had panicked voicemail from dmil ds and dh!! I was having a wee people. chill this fuck out!!

oh lord, bless you. Nothing you do is BU at this stage in a pregnancy.

Icelollycraving · 30/07/2012 09:25

Nothing at this stage of pregnancy is unreasonable.

sleepsforwimps2010 · 30/07/2012 09:25

I have heard the big baby being easier thing before.....
ive always thought bigger is better,

DS was/ is so strong and healthy and I hope that this little girl will do just as well...
it's just the build up to it all. I think once I actually get started I'll be alright, just dont need the constant reminder that she could be a 10lber!!

McKayz · 30/07/2012 09:28

Bigger babies are easier. DS2 was 10lb 5oz and DD was 9lb 6oz and both were easier than DS1 at 7lb 2oz.

YANBU though, I had it all too when I was expecting DD after DS2 being big.

TheHappyHissy · 30/07/2012 09:30

YANBU, go for it, rip THEM a new one!

Moominsarescary · 30/07/2012 09:31

My first was 11lb 2, it really wasn't as bad as you'd think

But yanbu

firawla · 30/07/2012 09:35

I think you're a bit oversensive, surely she was only joking?
Anyway good luck im sure it will all go well

sleepsforwimps2010 · 30/07/2012 09:38

I think the fact I cant sleep and everyone seems to think im 'with holding' their new grand daughter/ niece / cousin
because they work and wont get to see her till the weekend.... so last Friday would have been handy!!!
im so grouchy! but my 2 year old is currently having a little dance to ' rhyme rocket' which has cracked me up!
so I'll stop sulking and enjoy the last of time alone together!

Yanbu.

And second babies are not always bigger. Its a myth. My dd was born at 37 wks (induced) and was 7lb 9, my ds was born full term at 6lb!

(And that's despite a scan at 35 wks saying he would be huge!)

Good luck x

HKat · 30/07/2012 09:59

YADNBU!! I had it the other way round as had a small bump with PFB 11wo DD - yes she was 'only' 6.7oz but I really didn't need the 'oh are you SURE you're 40 weeks, you don't look half that' crap. Like I wasn't nervous enough about it all!

HKat · 30/07/2012 10:00

Oh and fingers crossed for you OP that today's the day!

thistlemuncher · 30/07/2012 10:05

Second babies are not always bigger. Mine wasn't and they were both born at 39+4.

I was told that within sibling sets boys are usually bigger than girls. (not sure if this is helpful!)

Good luck!

cantthinkof1 · 30/07/2012 10:07

YANBU don't know why people feel the need to comment.

First DS was 9lb 91/2oz extensive stitch up job in theatre. DS2 10lb 5oz small tear.

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 30/07/2012 10:07

YANBU - I hope it happens soon for you. My DD was born at 40+5 and was 9lb14oz so I feel your pain!!

Get bouncing on a ball, eat loads of pineapple curry and bathe in Clary Sage oil and raspberry leaf tea...and all that other stuff that apparently works (but actually does FUCK ALL!)

GnocchiNineDoors · 30/07/2012 10:11

Oooh, I hope she comes today/tomorrow and if not, next sunday monday so that you get some peace from all these family members who sound like they will pounce as soon as she arrives.

sweetkitty · 30/07/2012 10:13

Oh you have every right to shout at anyone right now. Being overdue is hell and the "have you had it yet" comments doesn't help. I know what you mean about holding onto the baby comments as if you would want another day huge and uncomfortable.

My second baby was 9lbs 3ozs 12 days late and I didn't even have a tear, compared to number one who was 3lbs lighter and had a second degree tear down the way and a labial tear up the way!

Tell the MW you tore first time around they will try and help you wait at the pushing stage.

None of the old wives tales work so save ur money on pineapple, curry and clary sage, put your feet up and eat chocolate. Or book a haircut or something pampering, chances are you won't get to keep the appointment (bitter experience)

MeconiumHappens · 30/07/2012 10:16

YANBU. And second babies are usually a breeze, no matter what size they are. Hope it happens soon for you.

LurkeyLurkerson · 30/07/2012 10:21

YANBU, anyone overdue is NBU about anything!

I went two weeks over with both of mine and nated the comments

  • That baby will be huuuge when it comes out!
  • Have you tried

And my all time favourite

  • Have you not had that baby yet? No, I thought I'd go a bit more overdue because I just love being so fucking uncomfortable!

Good luck OP

P.S. I notice your last post was 09:38, are you in labour?! Grin

LurkeyLurkerson · 30/07/2012 10:22

h ated

ratspeaker · 30/07/2012 10:56

Oh good grief! I felt like laying about me with a claymore when I got such helpful comments!
Luckily I was unable to lift one

You do wonder what planet some folk are on when they seem to think you have ANY control over when the baby will be born.

btw my 2nd was my largest at 9lb 7oz, the next 2 around the 8lb mark
