ok a bit ranty really!
im 40wks 5days pg today.. so huge and bloody uncomfortable!
i've got a midwife apt at 10, so was just talking to a 'friend' about having coffee after, ( we both have 2 yr old DS, so kids can play).
she said I should 'get on with it as this baby's going to be 20lb at this rate... and you remember the trouble you had having DS!'
like im not nervous enough already!!
(background DS was a big baby at 9lb 5oz, was born normally, but the stitch up job was extensive.........)
and oh how people love to say how 2nd
babies are always bigger.....
So aibu to want to say f off to the world if you havent got something helpful to say?

I think you are a little on edge which is understandable but i think your friend was just trying to be light hearted and cheer you up a little bit yaba wee bit U , I hope your baby comes soon whatever size .

fwiw I had under 5lbers they struggle to get out i was in labour a long time so a bigger baby is a bit stronger, imo

StellarforStar · 30/07/2012 11:08

I was nearly 10lb when I was born, my little sister a lovely compact 7lb.

My mum was a little worried because her Grandma had 14 children, the first weighed 14lb!

ChitchatAtHome · 30/07/2012 11:08

DS1 was 12 days late, and I completely ignored everyone who sent me txts and left messages on my phone. It was so bloody annoying being checked up on by EVERYONE, DH was put on notice that if anyone got through to me I'd rip their heads off! Grin

Leave a message on your voice mail saying 'you will all be told when we have the baby, until then I am keeping to myself, thanks!'

hugandroll · 30/07/2012 11:22

Fwiw ds1 born day after due date measured normal was 8lb 4oz. Ds2 born 2 weeks late, measured big on late scan and fundal height was 7lb 13.5oz. Second and late babies are not always bigger born.

Calabria · 30/07/2012 11:33

I sympathise. I went to 41 weeks 6 days. The Little Miss Late card from my mother-in-law went in the bin!

I've no personal experience of second babies but I'm told they are easier to pop out. Good luck!

Spiritedwolf · 30/07/2012 12:25

Oooh... I am also 40+5, so glad to know that everything I do and say is reasonable until this one is born.

I haven't had too much trouble, I'm at home and have few friends I tend to get a message every couple of days, but quite gentle 'any news?' stuff.

DH is fed up with it at work. He took friday off, so was dreading going back today as that's 3 days during which something might have happened. Don't know how he manages to keep his sarcasm down. If there was any 'news' then he would have called into work to say he wasn't coming in, not left me at home with a newborn or labouring without him.

And we haven't even had the insensitve comments yet.

Oooh! Exciting news!

Congratulations Smile

OhNoMyFanjo · 31/07/2012 06:02

Op I feel for you. Firstly stop answering tge phone, make dp ring twice then ring back so you can answer for him. Csecindly second babies are not always bigger, mine was 2 lbs less than tge first, thirdly even if bigger doesn't mean stitches will be needed. And fourthly just tell them to fuck off, they won't stay mad cause the next time you see them you will have a baby oh and finally you've not been back, any news Wink

ZonkedOut · 31/07/2012 06:10

LadyFlumpalot · 31/07/2012 07:17

My MIL was one to keep phoning, on her 10th call I answered and said "Oh! Didn't DH tell you?!? I had DS two days ago! I thought we'd told everyone!"

Thinking about it, that could be the root of my MIL issues.... Grin

LadyFlumpalot · 31/07/2012 07:18

PollyLove · 31/07/2012 07:26

Congratulations and well done x

MammaTJ · 31/07/2012 08:23

I was not going to post on this as I have a scary story of a 10lb 5 baby being born with a black eye and resulting in a condition called ptosis.
This is damage to the nerve and muscle in the eye lid and he cannot open it properly.

Now I can. Congratulations.

AKMD · 31/07/2012 08:43

Congratulations!

I was going to say turn your phone off and buy a £10 pay as you go Nokia from Tescos that only your DH has the number to. That is my plan for 35 weeks+ this time round!

DoUntoOlympians · 31/07/2012 08:46
