"Can you have porn for women then?"

Lucyellensmum99 · 29/07/2012 22:07

Said my DP to me just now when i described 50 shades as porn for women - what a twonk! Grin

My response was "of course you can" but is there porn for women? I mean, i know there is, but i never watched it. I do watch porn, but not porn directed at women.

So, lets be honest - do women like porn? or am i unusual?

In theory there could be porn for women.

Women, like men, have a variety of tastes, so what is good for one woman might not be good for another.

What is the question of reasonable/unreasonable?

gordyslovesheep · 29/07/2012 22:10

yes ...but 50 shades of shite isn't it!

squeakytoy · 29/07/2012 22:11

Porn is porn.. some women like it, some dont. Some women who like porn like certain types of porn, but not others.. and I am sure most men think that way too.

TheSurgeonsMate · 29/07/2012 22:13

I mistakenly clicked on a link to porn on an Australian feminist website, I don't know what I thought I might see Blush. What came up was really very hardcore.

Lucyellensmum99 · 29/07/2012 22:16

Trills, sorry, meant to be in chat - ah well :)

Surgeons - thats in interesting point though, does it have to be soft porn to be for women? I like hard core porn, and i like to watch women, but not lesbians, im not gay though. I think its more a case of imagining myself in that scenario type thing. I find that "porn for women" on sites is too soft, but i don't like the mysogenistic slant the other type. So, its difficult to get right?

TheSurgeonsMate · 29/07/2012 22:24

I'm even more Blush now, Lucy, to say I have no idea at all, it was just meant to be a helpful report about what I saw going on on the far flung web.

Lucyellensmum99 · 29/07/2012 22:30

it was helpful - i think that is a common misconception? that if i woman wants to watch porn she wants it to be all romantic and touchy feely - i actually cringe at the thought of watching other people kissing - ewwwwww Grin

OP posts:
Sportofino · 29/07/2012 22:30

Of course there is porn aimed at women.

horseygeorgie · 29/07/2012 22:32

I think so - i love it. Find it a real turn on, even more than my ex husband! i like man/woman and woman/woman.

MyinnergoddessisatLidl · 29/07/2012 22:32

I will watch and enjoy if it comes across as a realistic mutually enjoyable f*ck session.

I can't stand soft porn, 3 hours of a woman on a sun lounger rubbing her mufty through her knicker lace and moaning through her lipgloss.

But I can't stand the abusive kind of donkey punch stuff, where the end result seems to be to annihilate a woman's genitals over the end of a travel lodge sofa, then mushroom stamping her face to clean your penis.

The trouble is, there isn't too much in between I think.

germyrabbit · 29/07/2012 22:32

they did bring out a magazine in the early 90s, 'for women' think it died a death. had men wrapped in cling film for one feature iirc

of course women like porn, it's just we are conditioned to think it's bad

the 50 shades books and their ilk are acceptable but i think if women are honest they are just as turned on by the same things men are. (saying that the amount of porn online that has anal and blow jobs does make it obviously aimed at men)

GhostShip · 29/07/2012 22:33

I like porn, specific well made and 'safe' porn. No seedy abusive rubbish

Naoko · 29/07/2012 22:35

I'll just leave this here shall I....

Naoko · 29/07/2012 22:36

(link totally SFW by the way, should probably have reassured in initial post...)

Lucyellensmum99 · 29/07/2012 22:39

Naoko Grin

My innergoddess - that is exactly what i was trying to articulate, but failing :)

Mellower · 29/07/2012 22:48

I haven't watched it alone, or gone out of my way to watch it but have watched it whilst with a partner and yeah I liked it. I like the 2 men one female thing, in fantasty land obviously. Shock Blush

50 shades is crap ..... blasted "inner goddess" I felt like ripping the book up, although I am now quite curious about being spanked Shock and I wish men would erm.... read it and get some tips on how to have sex, make love, what ever you want to call it,.... I'm watching a documentary on 50 Shades just now, well half watching just now!

MrsKeithRichards · 29/07/2012 22:50

There is porn for women and couple friendly porn but I don't like it. I must be wired quite masculine in that way, I like proper porn

thecook · 29/07/2012 22:59

I detest porn. The reason being is my working life in the past. I had to view porn films and then categorise them. You know, lesbian, S & M, transgender. I used to have a book and just read that. Then the film would be finished and I would have to rewind. Bores me to death. I used to hate the fakery of it all, especially a certain shot. When you have seen as many as me, you don't find any bit of it erotic. But I am not the norm and I guess it could add a bit of spice to a relationship. I once sneaked a copy of Rick Steins French Odyssey into work and watched that instead. Far more interesting watching the origins of Cassoulet than watching girls with fake breasts writhing round the pool of a rented house in California!

Two words. Magic Mike?

WorraLiberty · 29/07/2012 23:22

50 shades isn't porn...it's erotic literature.

Porn is pretty genderless really...you just like what you like.

There are so many different genres of porn that there'll be something for everyone both male and female.

Lucyellensmum99 · 29/07/2012 23:23

the cook - i guess that must be what its like to work in a chocolate factory :)

I like porn because its "dirty" and "naughty" however i do agree that it does expliot women and i struggle with that.

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 29/07/2012 23:23

I think porn is totally exploitative of women and really struggle to understand why women like it. As for women being 'empowered' by being in it, bullshit

Do you know every women that's been in every porn film and whether or not they truly felt empowered by it?

Of course you don't so you can't say it's bullshit.

Lucyellensmum99 · 29/07/2012 23:24

Sorry worra but i am going to have to disagree with you again Wink

50 shades is neither erotic or literature, but you're right, tis not porn :) its just plain undadulterated shite

Who's magic mike?

OP posts:
MyinnergoddessisatLidl · 29/07/2012 23:28

This isn't a thread about porn being exploitive though, is it?

It's a discussion on whether there is a type of pornography that women favour?
