He's in tears, I'm the worlds cruelest mother :( it goes on till 00.30 and I'm shattered. I've a 9 month old and 4 year old. Been a busy week with lots of days out. He's seen 2 different friends today and grandparents. His dad is picking him up at 9am, I am taking the little ones to a party as well so busy day tomorrow.

So am I being unreasonable?

DS(he's 8) is now lain across me watching. Can tell he's tired when he lets me play with his hair.

Debeez · 27/07/2012 22:46

That made me smile skinny, what a lovely memory Grin

LaurieFairyCake · 27/07/2012 22:47

We've let 14 year old dd stay up and we're all watching it on a fifty foot screen in the park with thousands of others.

To be fair the giant hot dogs and hot chocolate are keeping us going.

Mamamaiasaura · 27/07/2012 22:48

laurie that sounds fantastic :)

Got to make it special for them, Debeez, haven't we?

It's really been bigged up at school and it's a huge thing for them - so,happy days!

Debeez · 27/07/2012 22:50

Exactly Skinny, only going to happen once. They'll remember being allowed to stay up and all the hype. DS is just as excited at still being up when Daddy comes home from work.

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 27/07/2012 23:02

Dd (12) didn't think she'd stay up, but here she still is, commenting assiduously on the names of each country.

CillaSlack · 27/07/2012 23:05

redwhiteandblueeyedsusan · 27/07/2012 23:06

Krumbum · 27/07/2012 23:18

Even on a normal Friday night would you make him go to bed really early? When schools not on why not stay up?

jellybeans · 27/07/2012 23:22

YABU.

nancy75 · 27/07/2012 23:23

My 7 year old is still going strong, her eyes are looking heavy but her mouth is Still going! Never heard so many questions!

Debeez · 27/07/2012 23:26

8 yr old DS is flagging but determined to see Team GB!

musicposy · 27/07/2012 23:34

DD2 (also 12) is still holding out but is very tired. I think she will wait to see team GB come on and then go to bed. :)

Mamamaiasaura · 27/07/2012 23:36

krumbum he goes to bed lights out at 9 everyday. I don't change it for weekends and there was an article about it giving same disruption as jet lag to do so. Regardless of wether weekend or holidays, he generally goes to be at 9. He gets woken at 7/7.30 by his little brother most mornings and even of he any he still wakes early.

5yo DS managed until 22:45.

But Oh MY God the questions. 'who is that' 'what are they doing' 'why is he doing that'?????? It was getting a bit painful trying to explain it all.

Mamamaiasaura · 27/07/2012 23:45

meglet I've left dh and ds1 to watch rest. I'm feeding baby in bed and plan to sleep

My 4yr old ( well she'll tell you she's four and a half as that makes all the difference apparently ) is still up and thoroughly enjoying every minute. She was about 7mths when she 'watched' the Bejing opening ceremony with me, so I figured if she wanted to she could. We've had a midnight ( 8.30 ) feast and I'm loving her reaction to it all.
A once in a lifetime night for her and one I'm glad she can witness and hopefully will remember.

susiedaisy · 27/07/2012 23:47

My two aged 11 and 14 have given up and gone to bed I won't be far behind flagging now but loving it.

samandi · 28/07/2012 00:18

Mamamaiasaura · 28/07/2012 00:42
