He's in tears, I'm the worlds cruelest mother :( it goes on till 00.30 and I'm shattered. I've a 9 month old and 4 year old. Been a busy week with lots of days out. He's seen 2 different friends today and grandparents. His dad is picking him up at 9am, I am taking the little ones to a party as well so busy day tomorrow.

So am I being unreasonable?

I hate backing down too, but sometimes it's the right thing to do. So well done!

Mamamaiasaura · 27/07/2012 21:10

He can't watch it all as dh sleeping on sofa as I have a bed full of babies. I reckon 10.30 latest.. Is that fair?

Another YABU. He's 12, can't turn off the tv and the sitting room light and put himself to bed if you go up now?

ilovesooty · 27/07/2012 21:11

For goodness' sake let him watch it, and you go to bed if you're tired. This is something that will never happen again.

Mamamaiasaura · 27/07/2012 21:11

(he is usually in bed lights out already)

YABU, i have let dd1(8) stay up and i have to say i have never let her stay up for anything before. I am hoping she will get fed up after and hour but if she doesn't then i'm happy for her to stay up. Its a one off thing, something they may never see in their life time again. Dd1 has been a nightmare today and we have had a long day but couldn't bring myself to say 'no' to her. Dd2 (6) chose to go to bed.

MarianForrester · 27/07/2012 21:13

YABU! I can't be bothered with the Olympics, but reckon you should let him watch it- til the end Grin Sorry!

DiscoDaisy · 27/07/2012 21:14

yanbu

My 7,8,10 and 11 year olds were in their beds at normal times.
I am recording it for them and they can watch it tomorrow.
I don't think my 16 year old is going to make it to the end and she's a night owl.

littlemisstax · 27/07/2012 21:15

let him watch the show bit. He'll be bored by the speeches and marching with flags and go to bed or is that just me?

Mamamaiasaura · 27/07/2012 21:17

We are all sat watching.. Except ds2 (4y) and dd (9m). Should I go get ds2 up? It's rather good

Hahahahaaaaaa, you've been converted!!! Grin

I wouldn't wake a 4 year old for it tbh, unless you know he will really really enjoy it?

I'm glad you've let him stay up, it's not his fault you are tired with a 9 month old and a 4 year old.

MammaTJ · 27/07/2012 21:21

YABU!! I hope you tell him what we said.

FalseStartered · 27/07/2012 21:22

i've just shut DDs bedroom door on her so i can MN and watch it in peace

i hope it's on iPlayer

Stepmumm · 27/07/2012 21:22

Yanbu, i wanted to watch it with my ds, but we have a busy day/eve tomorrow and he's already tired. You know you're kids and what time they need to go to bed

Gunznroses · 27/07/2012 21:22

YANBU! i have just packed mine off to bed too. I have loads of research work to do tonight, the results that will will have an affect thousands of lives, i have planned to work through to 2am, i am not having kids screaming, yelling etc till past midnight.

I am recording it, and ds can watch it at a more suitable time tomorrow. Life doesnt stop because of the olympics.

Gunznroses · 27/07/2012 21:23

"that will affect"

Viviennemary · 27/07/2012 21:25

YABVVVVU. If he wants to watch it he should. It's a once in a lifetime. Please change your mind. Torch

wellilikemythinking · 27/07/2012 21:27

My 11yr ds and 8yr old dd are now enjoying it although asking lots of questions almost wish they were in bed and we have had lots of late nights this week but I know they will lie in. Enjoy
