To think that Waitrose bottom butter is little more than a posh pot of vaseline?

It feels exactly the same, and in fact I don't find it as nice as oridnary creams. It bit too shiny and greasy. I am sure its vaseline with a posh name.

Bottom butter?!

Oh, it's Friday...... Bit early though. Grin

It is olive oil with a scent added. I do like it when any very dry skin appears, but (following recommendations from here on MN) I now prefer rosehip oil.

imnotmymum · 27/07/2012 10:45

wasShock that waitrose was selling such an item then Blush that my mind was working that way before even had breakfast.

TangoSierra · 27/07/2012 10:46

Oh sorry Blush BABY BOTTOM BUTTER !!

It's olive oil in non-liquid form. Vaseline is petroleum jelly.

theDudesmummy · 27/07/2012 10:46

You could use it anywhere I suppose....

IslaValargeone · 27/07/2012 10:46

I hate the smell. I bought some after reading about it on here. However I am a grown woman and I don't want to smell like a milky bar.

TangoSierra · 27/07/2012 10:47

Apparently it has become a huge hit as a face cream. For a while you couldn't get it in any of the shops and was selling a hugely inflated prices on ebay.

:o :o :o

I know what you mean, however. I heard about it while was using it for my baby's bottom and tried it out on my face. Thick, greasy and pointless. Smelled nice though.

TangoSierra · 27/07/2012 10:48

It has that heavy vaseline feel to it. and then your hair sticks to your face!

Oh, baby bottom butter! I'm laughing so much now I nearly choked on my coffee. Blush

TangoSierra · 27/07/2012 10:52

hah! I suppose it could come in handy after a bit of bumsex on a fri, or even before.
If you are into that sort of thing of course!

Quite nice as an occasional treat for a dry face while you lie in the bath (bit like a moisturising face pack) but too greasy for use in the day etc. You will shine and your hair will indeed all stick to your face. I do happen to like the smell! I have never used it on a baby (but I did have a friend who used to coat her newborn in extra-virgin olive oil).

theDudesmummy · 27/07/2012 10:54

Rather use straight olive oil before the bumsex if you have to, I would say!?? the scent in the bottom butter could irritate!

Ambersivola · 27/07/2012 10:56

I use it on my hands - just the back of the hands because I don't like hand cream on my palms! It works very well around the cuticles where the skin can tear easily.

pinkdelight · 27/07/2012 11:12

"It works very well... where the skin can tear easily"

hence it's perfect for (non-baby) bottoms! this thread is hilarious. love it when the crucial word is forgotten like that.

dexter73 · 27/07/2012 11:14

I put it on my heels once and it dissolved my flip flops!! I'm not sure it would be going anywhere near my bottom after that!

TangoSierra · 27/07/2012 11:14

oh am imagining torn bottoms now Grin Grin
Wonder if the chief of waitrose is aware of what his products are really used for!

porcamiseria · 27/07/2012 11:35

erm its £2.50

so why even care, if its £12.50 I would see your issues

TangoSierra · 27/07/2012 11:40

Because of the hype Porca

OP posts:
porcamiseria · 27/07/2012 11:41

I like it actually, have quite dry skin so every so often use it, even on face (mixed with fake tan)

so ner!

TangoSierra · 27/07/2012 11:48

It was a 'miracle' cream and at one stage everyone wanted it, it flew off the shelves, cost up to a tenner a pot on ebay, and I was just saying it wasn't as marvellous as the hype surrounding it.
Agree it was cheap and not bothered about paying that price although I think it was more like 4 quid when I bought it last year.
