to ask what you think of a mum leaving her baby home alone everyday for the school run?

A mother left her 7 month old baby alone for 40 mins every morning and 20 mins just before every lunch to do the school run. She claims she did not know it was illegal and struggled to get the buggy down her front steps. She has received a 12 month community order and the judge commented that even David Cameron had once left his daughter in a pub. I will 'try' to add a link-www.google.com/search?q=mum+left+daughter+to+do+school+run&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari It's here and in the DM.

Do you have sympathy for her situation? Do you think this is a reasonable punishment, after all would a custodial sentence have served any purpose? Or will this sentence mean more children are left in vulnerable situations? And, finally, what's it got to do with the Camerons?!

Can you make it a clicky link. I am on my phone.

Sparklingbrook · 23/07/2012 15:46

liketochat1 are you sure you aren't a journalist, or a researcher for Matthew Wright? Grin

JodieHarsh · 23/07/2012 15:47

JOURNO!!!!!!

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 23/07/2012 15:47

yes. Or Jeremy Vine? No comment.

Rosa · 23/07/2012 15:49

Sits back and watches with interest or should I listen with interest?

SauvignonBlanche · 23/07/2012 15:49
Biscuit
Birdsgottafly · 23/07/2012 15:50

Usually the response on MN is that it is fine to leave babies, regardless of what it is for, because 'we all have to put the bins out' Confused. There have been numerous threads on it.

It is wrong, illegal and there is no need to leave young children unattended, it is poor parenting.

Biscuit anyone

JamieAngelosMuse · 23/07/2012 15:51

Yawn.

VivaLeBeaver · 23/07/2012 15:52

God, you can spot the lazy journo types a mile off.

Pochemuchka · 23/07/2012 15:53

What a strange way of phrasing your OP?
So many questions. Not to mention what this has to do with the Camerons. It's hardly the same is it?
And surely a custodial sentence would leave the children at home alone for far longer periods? Grin
Matthew Wright's researcher is that you?!

DizzyKipper · 23/07/2012 15:53

Hmm well I think this thread would be better placed elsewhere, in chat maybe, since you're not really asking AIBU, and for that YABU (welcome to MN btw Wink )

RubyRosie · 23/07/2012 15:53

I would think she was an idiot and if she can't figure out that it's relatively easy to carry a folded buggy down some steps and then go back for the baby then she probably should't be left in a position of responsibility.

Olympia2012 · 23/07/2012 15:54

Have seen this poster about though... Don't be so quick to judge her'

VivaLeBeaver · 23/07/2012 15:54

What's it got to do with the Camerons?

Well obviously Shiney Dave should have been round there babysitting every morning. Big society innit?

PavlovtheCat · 23/07/2012 15:59

i smell JK. Te questions are phrased just like they would be on the show, OP you even sound like him. I can imagine him saying those things. Not that I have ever watched it other than to gawp like watching a car crash...

Pickles77 · 23/07/2012 15:59

Don't think this is a journo, saw her about twice yesterday

VivaLeBeaver · 23/07/2012 16:01

Well if she isn't then I apologise. However she sounds just like one, loads of questions without offering an opinion of her own. So either she's a researcher who also MNs about non job stuff as well. Or she watched too much Matthew wright! Grin

Sparklingbrook · 23/07/2012 16:03

I don't know what to think. A thread was deleted yesterday, so I am a bit curious about the questions.

manicbmc · 23/07/2012 16:03

I'm not wasting my biscuits.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 23/07/2012 16:03

Yeah cos being a journalist means people only come here once with each name Hmm and even if the OP isn't a journalist, s/he still sounds like JK which is cause to BU in and of itself cos he's a wanker Grin

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 23/07/2012 16:04

And now IABU cos I got MW and JK mixed up - mixed wankery!
