to find these FB status updates totally nauseating

just seen one celebrating an anniversary along the lines of "8 Happy Years today, go team us yay..! 12 years of love, 8 of marriage, we have done pretty well. Love you X"

Is is just me or are these totally nauseating....along the lines of hey everyone look how happy we are and how wonderful our life is.

I am probably going to get strung up as some miserable cow but just not sure why people feel the need to announce this stuff...wouldn't you celebrate this with your partner privately rather than pass on your love and congratulations via FB?

I don't mind a bit of happy. Some of it is a bit ...meh but so what.

I hate that some Australian shared a cartoon declaring Julia Gillard (Australian PM) to be a 'ranga (ginger) bitch', with me this morning.

And this was a woman!!! I bluddy fuming.Angry

I know....off to the Feminism Board.

Creamtea1 · 16/07/2012 11:55

YANBU it is complete nause.
Tell the person privately if you really mean it.
I have ditched FB as it annoys me so much. Have a friend that constantly puts things like 'perfect lunch out with my perfect little family, perfect Sunday all round you can't get any better'
excruciating...

Mollydoggerson · 16/07/2012 11:56

Vom alert, why the need for all the constant gloaty, bla, bla, bla. It reminds me of Tom Cruise's couch jumping. Really, is it necessary?

nomorethan2thankyou · 16/07/2012 11:57

i think YABU regarding anniversary postings although i can't bear the ones with "xx loves xx sooo much etc etc". i will admit to being one of those annoying people who posts about their children on facebook, more along the lines of "the joys of dragging a a tantruming toddler around tesco" rather than "I have the mot amazing children in the world".
the thing that makes me cringe is the women who put hundred of photos of themselves taken from the side angle with that gormless duck-face which are all meant to be supposed holiday snaps. yuck.

Jemma1111 · 16/07/2012 12:05

I can't stand the updates where people don't give the full story but post little clues , such as "thats it he's in for it ", " can't believe this is happening to me today " etc .

Give us the reasons why you're mad , happy , upset or whatever !

Would also be interesting if FB had a ' who cares ' button next to the like one , a lot of people wouldn't dare put daft updates on then !

ken0eddie0kennedy · 16/07/2012 12:07

Pukeage. If you post this type of saccharin shite you are WRONG! I do not love everyone dearly on my FB friends list either. So shoot me.

Whoneedssleepanyway · 16/07/2012 12:11

firawla yes it was this bit that I found most vomit inducing Grin

OP posts:
TheEnthusiasticTroll · 16/07/2012 12:11

I hate the gushing over school reports one, sometimes they just fall sort of C&Ping the whole bloody report in the status box.

Whoneedssleepanyway · 16/07/2012 12:12

the other ones I find hilarious are

"X is having a lovely Sunday afternoon with her wonderful husband and adorable DCs"

no you're not you are on FB....

OP posts:
nomorecake · 16/07/2012 12:14

jemma I have a policy never to engage with that attention seeking crap!

The worst recently was a someone wishing themselves a happy birthday from her 1yo dd. "happy bithday to my lovely mummy..."

Pass the bucket.

Mrsjay · 16/07/2012 12:17

I find loving my babies more ickky than anything f course you love your children ,but the others are quite cringy but tbh it is their facebook and the can put what they like on it ,

Mrsjay · 16/07/2012 12:18

X is having a lovely Sunday afternoon with her wonderful husband and adorable DCs"

no you're not you are on FB...

this also fits with chilling with the family which i always assume kids are hanging off sofas bored and husband is on his playstation Grin

ken0eddie0kennedy · 16/07/2012 12:20

But PLEASE DO keep posting the saccharine shite because it's great for a snigger. It's incredibly naive to think people don't.

badtasteflump · 16/07/2012 12:20

Yes I agree but them I am a grumpy old cow and find most public declarations of lurve a bit vomit-inducing TBH Blush

I also can't stand people who go round telling everyone how much they 'love their kids' and who have their DCs or partners names tattoed onto themselves. Actually, I can't think of any RL examples of the former apart from in crappy soaps, but if I did hear anyone going on about it it would really annoy me Grin

Jemma1111 · 16/07/2012 12:21

On mine when it had been snowing badly someone had written " oh thank god I was able to get around in my brand new 4 x 4 " flash fucker !

Barbielovesken · 16/07/2012 12:21

Did you see this pics lately - they keep coming up on my feed 'click like if you love your kids' em.. ok then..

MyMelody · 16/07/2012 12:22

Ghastly! The more I read on here about Facebook, the happier I am that I'm not on it Grin

MackerelOfFact · 16/07/2012 12:23

The most annoying ones are health-related updates. I have a friend who updates about 3 times a day on how tired she is, how much she aches, how badly she has slept, how depressed she feels, whether or not she has a sore throat/headache/minor injury. If she has exhausted all possible symptoms, she moves onto how ill her family members are. Extra points if someone is in hospital. The same mugs friends comment 'aww hun wots wrong?' every single bloody time.

It an entire detailed medical history. (And a tiny bit Munchausens.)

Mrsjay · 16/07/2012 12:24

they keep coming up on my feed 'click like if you love your kids' em.. ok then..

I hide all those also i have seen an auntie is like a mother or some such rubbish , hit like if you are a fab auntie

PISS OFF

MackerelOfFact · 16/07/2012 12:24

Reading back I sound like an unfeeling bitch. I do sympathise with her ailments, but Facebook is not the person you should be telling.

nomorethan2thankyou · 16/07/2012 12:25

Did you see this pics lately - they keep coming up on my feed 'click like if you love your kids' em.. ok then..
i'd be tempted if it was "click like if you love a break from your kids".

Mrsjay · 16/07/2012 12:27

Reading back I sound like an unfeeling bitch.

you are not but I think we all have 'that' friend who is always ill and it is boring if their migraine is so bad get off the frigging internet and go lie down ! NO they just like a bloody moan.

I am just grumpy i think and facebook can bring out the worst in folk

MrsBovary · 16/07/2012 12:27

"X is having a lovely Sunday afternoon with her wonderful husband and adorable DCs"

no you're not you are on FB..."

I usually tend to think this.

Yes I agree, OP, and what is all this 'team' nonsense nowadays? You sometimes hear of it for pregnancies; 'team yellow' 'team pink' and so on.

But you don't need to tolerate any irritating comments, just hide or remove.

Jemma1111 · 16/07/2012 12:27

Also when someone posts that there at some posh restaurant having a utterly fabulous time with my wonderful hubby and friends ,

Feel like responding "love, if you were having such fun you wouldn't have time to be posting on FB .....aarrgghhh !

Lucyellensmum99 · 16/07/2012 12:29

No, this drives me nuts too - someone i know posts about how deliriously happy she is with her new man (im pleased for her, really i am) but im almost 100% sure she does this so it filters through to her exH!!

oh and the "lovely family days doing x" stealth boasts get my goat too
