Lying in and naps

DH gets up first thing with DD every morning for 2 hours.

Then at the weekend he gets to have a good 4-5 hour afternoon sleep on Saturday and Sunday.

Sounds like a fair deal?

How early is 'first thing'?

MrsMangoBiscuit · 07/07/2012 16:43

If you're both happy with it, it sounds fair. :)

MarigoldsInTheWindow · 07/07/2012 16:44

as long as you are happy!
Also depends if you are a morning person (im not). That would mean alot to me

cheekypickle · 07/07/2012 16:44

6-7am ish

I always get up in the night for her as DH doesn't have the patience!

OP posts:
cheekypickle · 07/07/2012 16:45

I'm not a morning person !

If you are all happy, it's fine.

TidyDancer · 07/07/2012 16:46

Not enough information to judge really. In general, I agree with MrsMango, if you both are happy with the arrangement then that's what matters most.

Personally, I would rather share the mornings all week through.

What are the working/childcare/etc arrangements in your family?

gordyslovesheep · 07/07/2012 16:46

I am not you what you are asking?

Sparklingbrook · 07/07/2012 16:46

Mmmm. But he is sleeping through half the weekend. Do you get to spend time as a family?

alphabite · 07/07/2012 16:47

I think it depends on how precious he is about his nap. Would he still do it if you had to be somewhere for example?

For you to ask it doesn't sound like you're happy with the situation. Could you swap some weeks?

Sassybeast · 07/07/2012 16:47

He sleeps for 4 or 5 hours EVERY Saturday and Sunday ? When do you go out and do stuff as a family ?
And bollocks to him not having the 'patience' to do night wakenings. You are as entitled to a full nights sleep as he is. How often do you have to get up in the night?

cheekypickle · 07/07/2012 16:49

DD goes to childminder 9-5 Monday to Friday

OP posts:
DesperatelySeekingPomBears · 07/07/2012 16:52

So your DP gets an uninterrupted night of sleep EVERY NIGHT because he doesn't have the patience to get up, then he gets up at the perfectly reasonable hour of 6-7 every morning but also expects ten hours of napping during the weekend?

No, I don't think that's fair. Not at all.

Sparklingbrook · 07/07/2012 16:53

Does he lie on the settee and nap or are we talking proper back to bed curtains shut etc?

cheekypickle · 07/07/2012 16:54

Properly going to bed sleep

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 07/07/2012 16:55

Oh wow. This all sounds very unfair. Have you ever spoken to him about it?

DesperatelySeekingPomBears · 07/07/2012 16:56

Hang on, don't you work as well OP, as a teacher? So presumably you must get up yourself around the 7am mark as well? I'm assuming you don't lie in bed until 11am every day.

cheekypickle · 07/07/2012 16:56

I'm not a morning person so I appreciate he gets up with DD

Does get a bit lonely and boring sat and sun afternoons though!

OP posts:
cheekypickle · 07/07/2012 16:57

Yes I wake up at 7:30 weekdays

9am on weekends

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 07/07/2012 16:58

6-7am isn't that early IMO.

DesperatelySeekingPomBears · 07/07/2012 16:59

And how frequently does DD wake during the night? I would say it sounds as though you are generally losing more sleep hours than he is. But if you're happy with it, and he doesn't mind losing every weekend with his family then [shrug] I suppose it's okay.

Casmama · 07/07/2012 16:59

I think na piping for 4-5 hours after getting up at 6 is a problem. Is he ill? why does he need that much sleep?

Casmama · 07/07/2012 17:00

Napping

hairylemon · 07/07/2012 17:00

Sounds like you get a much better deal Grin

cheekypickle · 07/07/2012 17:00

No he's not ill. Just always done it.
