..for the repeated references to Murray being 'Britain's first Wimbledon finalist' in 74 years'?

carabos · 06/07/2012 19:22

Ooh yes - YANBU.

EdithWeston · 06/07/2012 19:25

Or all the various doubles players they're similarly snubbing.

It doesn't take that much effort or many more milliseconds to add the words "men's singles".

Ye another fail by BBC.

RandomNumbers · 06/07/2012 19:25

YANBU at ALL

SauvignonBlanche · 06/07/2012 19:25

YANBU

lurkedtoolong · 06/07/2012 19:26

YANBU - especially as Jamie Murray won mixed doubles just a couple of years back.

Still over the moo for Grumpy Andy.

PrincessLayercake · 06/07/2012 19:27

Yes, absolutely YANBU!

minibmw2010 · 06/07/2012 19:27

Especially as Jamie Murray won the mixed doubles in 2007 !!!

cocoachannel · 06/07/2012 19:28

I was so incensed by them overlooking Wade I had forgotten about the doubles players!

Chuffed to bits for him though"

Oh sorry Lurked, x post Blush

diddl · 06/07/2012 19:30

Well I assumed that they meant in the Men´s singles final as it was the mens singles that he is playing in.

lurkedtoolong · 06/07/2012 19:31

No worries Mini. You knew the year :)

StanleyLambchop · 06/07/2012 19:32

Jonathan Marray has just got through to the mens doubles finals so two Brits to support!!!

TiggyD · 06/07/2012 20:11

YANBU.

It would only have taken a second for them to add "In proper tennis"!

Bunbaker · 06/07/2012 20:20

When I was watching the news they did state that he is the first Wimbledon male finalist in 74 years. I remember when Virginia Wade won Wimbledon in 1977 in front of the queen in her silver jubilee year. It would be fantastic if Andy Murray could do it for the diamond jubilee.

Saltire · 06/07/2012 20:22

Well 5 live said this was the "single most important event in British sport since 1966".

Or words to that effect, but 1966 was definately mentioned

SimplySoo · 06/07/2012 21:15

yanbu - and I bet all the newspapers make the same statement too.

yellowraincoat · 06/07/2012 21:17

What did 1966 have to do with British sport?

Bunbaker · 06/07/2012 21:26

Is that a tongue in cheek question yellow?

rainydaysarebad · 06/07/2012 21:29

Didn't Murray once say that he doesn't like being called British because he's Scottish or something like that. I think the rainy weather helped him win.

OlympicFlame · 06/07/2012 21:37

I hadn't realised Virginia Wade won Wimbledon... I also didn't know she was British. Blush...

The BBC should apologise... They have corrected and are now saying on their website that Murray is 'the first British man' since Fred Perry to be in a Wimbledon final.

yellowraincoat · 06/07/2012 21:41

No, it isn't.

Bunbaker · 06/07/2012 21:43

Do you really not know what happened in 1966 then?

rainydaysarebad · 06/07/2012 21:46

England won the worldcup football in 1966...The first and last time. pffaahahaaa

nancy75 · 06/07/2012 21:46

England won the world cup in 1966 not Britain, I believe yellow raincoat is from Scotland

Saltire · 06/07/2012 22:36

yellowraincoat - how can you not know what happened in 1966? it is mentioned every single time without fail that England play football Wink
