To think DS’s teacher shouldn’t act like this?!

Hi everyone. This is something that happened a few weeks ago but it?s been playing on my mind, I?d appreciate it if you could tell me if you think I?m unreasonable here!

DS started secondary in September at an all boys comprehensive. He had trouble settling in to start with and his form tutor was brilliant at helping him. She is young (about 22 I?d say) and an NQT. She is very nice and DS thinks the world of her. She went way over and above her call of duty for us ? spending a lot of time setting up counselling for DS , helping him to make friends and on one occasion coming out to our car and persuading DS to go into school when he was point-blank refusing one day.

She also teaches DS English and has been very thorough with marking (unlike most of his other teacher?s) and does brilliant fun lessons where they lean loads (according to DS)

She is very, very attractive and thus has a fan club in the form (there are older lads in the form too) so obviously she could bump into them at any time outside of school.

My problem is this; a few weeks ago DH and I went to see Coldplay, and who should I bump into in the Lady?s but this teacher. She said ?Hello Mrs TTLL? and we had a quick chat, fine. She then came and sat in front of me and DH with her boyfriend. (She didn?t see we were sitting there I don?t think though) anyway her and her boyfriend proceeded to snog like teenagers for the next hour and a half with her sitting on his lap Hmm It was like watching a pair of 15 year olds at the back of the cinema. Am I being unreasonable to think this is totally inappropriate behaviour for a teacher?! Any of the boys she teaches could have seen her after all....

Why on earth have you been thinking about this? I'd be worried if she brought her bf into school and had a snogging session infront of the boys in her English class...but seeing as she hasn't done that, I don't see the problem....You're a bit weird.

She should be setting an example for her pupils by not going to see a mumrock band at her age.

WorraLiberty · 06/07/2012 16:43

OMG we've had 'Mummy porn'...now we have 'Mumrock' Grin

Mumrock has been around for way longer than Mumporn.

Birdsgottafly · 06/07/2012 16:44

"just think she should be more careful in public"

As a professional you have to curb some of your behaviour, drunk and disorderly, for example.

Anything illegal shouldn't be done outside of your own home, or very carefully, sex out doors, for example (i do that and i'm a SW).

But public displays of affection towards one person, is fine, you have over thought this.

valiumredhead · 06/07/2012 16:44

How would you like her to have behaved,OP?

yellow Quite! Perhaps she was bored hence the snogging Grin

defineme · 06/07/2012 16:46

Teachers do get warned about this sort of stuff. You're not supposed to frequent places kids from school go (why would you want to?), facebook publicly and so on, but a gig for a massive band is different.Public kissing is not illegal and is really normal at that age, I have even seen people in their 40s do it whilst their kids run around.
However, she's being a bit of a tit because horrid kids will film that and facebook it in an instant and then she will get told off by head.

I was at a gig with my dh recently (he's a teacher)and he was snapped by cheering kids and on facebook immediatly. We live 20 miles away in a different town from his school, but kids get everywhere. Obviously I wasn't snogging dh cos he's 49 and would shake me off, but I was 23 when I met him and didn't hold back then-thank god no facebook in those days!

GrahamTribe · 06/07/2012 16:46

Good point, Pinkyredrose. Coldplay. Ugh. The OP should be hounded off MN for that. Grin

AltruisticEnigma · 06/07/2012 16:52

YABU. Although it's a shock she's a young woman. I don't get why people snog infront of others but that's up to the individuals, who am I to judge? :) But that's a different thing. She's young, she has a boyfriend, she's have a good time - why wouldn't she give him a kiss? If she was doing it at a school event, I'd definately be with you on that one. Or if she was doing it at the regular hangout for pretty much all of the teenagers again, would see where you were coming from.

Sure one of her students might've seen her but then does that mean she can't be amorous in public because of this?

Puts me off becoming a teacher or anything like that as I'd had to have to hold back from an amorous encounter with my DP if the drinks were flowing.

MetalliMa · 06/07/2012 16:53

omg priceless
a teacher is human

TTLL · 06/07/2012 16:54

Well that's what I was thinking defineme... Careful the boys wouldn't use it against her.

I would never dream of complaining/reporting it. I would have nothing but positive things to say about her to the head.

One of my favourite teachers at school used to show us photos from gigs and nights out, regularly with his friends and a beer in each hand.

He as the best teacher and got the best results from us, things like that dont affect their ability to teach

They have lives too yano.

lurkedtoolong · 06/07/2012 16:55

Seriously? You've been thinking about it for weeks? Why are you obsessed with this poor woman?

hathorisaskingaquestion · 06/07/2012 16:55

This has "played on your mind" for weeks.

Come on, she's young, she has a boyfriend.

I'm 42. I snog DP when we're out in public. He feels my bum sometimes and my teenagers do the "yuk" face.

So what? It's life - it wasn't in school, she was only kissing FGS.

Magneto · 06/07/2012 16:58

How would the boys use it against her? Hmm

"Miss I saw you snogging!"

"Er yeah. And?"

Lancelottie · 06/07/2012 16:58

Oh happy memories.
Many years ago, I went to some event of other (I think it was a Shakespeare play, so not wildly titillating) and found I was sitting behind my then English teacher and her boyfriend, who embraced rather enthusiastically throughout.

Her face the next day when I innocently asked if she'd enjoyed the show!
'We were sitting behind you Miss.'
'What, right behind us??'

TTLL · 06/07/2012 16:59

Haha I suppose so Magneto! I was thinking more along the lines of filming it or something though...

OP posts:
EndangeredOtter · 06/07/2012 17:03

Actually LOL at the boys might use it against her.

How?

Laquitar · 06/07/2012 17:04

Are you jealous?

You could snog your dh too and feel better Wink

Magneto · 06/07/2012 17:04

Even if they filmed it what would they do?

She wasn't being indecent or doing anything illegal. She was snogging. I bet they've all seen their mum snog and nothing awful has happened to them.

haththefecklessbreeder · 06/07/2012 17:05

Even if it was filmed, she wasn't doing anything illegal

How could it be held against her?

scentednappyhag · 06/07/2012 17:06

I bet she has sex too! And picks her nose. And drinks milk out of the carton when no one's looking. And does 75mph on the motorway.

Grin Naughty teacher!
tethersend · 06/07/2012 17:07

Well I for one am shocked and saddened by this disgraceful behaviour.

I hope you woke up your son as soon as you got home and described her DISGUSTING actions to him in minute detail.
