Before I start I realise that the following will makes us sound like teenagers but I assure you we are actual adults.

I make cakes. Not for money, just for friends and family. If I'm asked to make any I just ask for whoever to buy the flour/sugar etc.

A friend at work wants use to go into business together. She makes lovely cakes but cant really decorate them.

Im not interested. Between work and 3dc i just dont have time.

She has recently become obsessed with cake pops. She makes loads of the things. To be fair, hers do taste lovely.

Anyway, i bought myself a machine that makes them. I made some yesterday and took one into work for her to taste.

She had a fit! Told me I have to stop making them as it was not fair to her. Cake pops are her thing apparently. She also said that if I'm ever asked to make any I have to pass the person her way. Its only fair Hmm

I I just laughed but I know she is serious about this.

Worra Grin

Cakepops at dawn.

Well how many times do you have to tell her you're not selling them. Ask her where she gets off telling you what to do anyhow?

Cheeky fucker.

thisisyesterday · 02/07/2012 20:27

almostahipster no, but i think if someone started making a better spag bol and then sat outside giving it away for free the restaurant would be reasonably miffed no?

Yama · 02/07/2012 20:27

I too agree with Thisisyesterday.

DamselInTornDress · 02/07/2012 20:32

I say there is only one thing for it.

CAKE FIGHT!!!!!!!!

MikeLitoris · 02/07/2012 20:32

Tbh I thinks hers actually do taste better and if someone was looking for some then I probably would send them her way. I just don't appreciate being told what I can and cant make.

can't you sort of change your's slightly, to keep her happy?

I dunno...cake on a string??

not sure that'll work, just a sort of tampon shaped cake

lovebunny · 02/07/2012 20:34

its the way of the world. she has to live with it.

LeeCoakley · 02/07/2012 20:34

There's something about cakepops that make me feel uneasy. It's like it should be a lollipop and somehow you've been cheated and it's just a bit of sponge. Maybe I've had unsettling dreams involving cakepops. I can't even click on the link Shock

MikeLitoris · 02/07/2012 20:35

I think the point your missing is that this isn't the first time I have made these. She knows this.

Why she has suddenly got her arse in jer hand I dont know.

Do I have to stop making them now she says so?

She can sod off!

AlmostAHipster · 02/07/2012 20:35

thisisyesterday but the OP isn't sitting outside her colleague's house, foisting superior cake pops onto any potential customers. She's making them for fun - she only gave one to the colleague after she was asked to by aforementioned colleague, due to said colleague's interest in the cake pop machine.

:)

MikeLitoris · 02/07/2012 20:36

*her not jer.

dam!

sticking to the day job then... Grin

pleasestoparguing · 02/07/2012 20:52

So essentally she can't dunk cake balls in melted chocolate or roll them in butter icing and put sprinkles on them (how hard can this be) you are to send anyone who asks to her for cakes - undecorated ones I presume - for money - well I'm sure your friends and family will bethrilled to oblige.

Is she really a friend?

TheSpokenNerd · 02/07/2012 20:53

I agree that cake pops are rank. They look "messed with" somehow.

thisisyesterday · 02/07/2012 20:55

almost... no, she isn't, but the friend is clearly worried she will!

i'm not saying the friend isn't being a bit OTT, just that I can understand why she is a little um, concerned?

MammaTJ · 02/07/2012 21:01

I make beautiful cakes and, since last year, have started decorating them beautifully too.

I cannot master cake pops, I am insanely Grin jealous of anyone who can do them. Shoot her, then kill yourself, that is the only answer!

OhNoMyFanjo · 02/07/2012 21:07

I can't believe I didn't know there was a machine for this she would say tgat.

Call yours Cake Snaps or Cake Crackle and tell her to pop off.

BettySuarez · 02/07/2012 21:11

How hard can it be to decorate a cake pop? Surely you just dip it into melted chocolate and a few sprinkles?

Oh an YANBU - she sounds a bit precious

The machine looks brilliant but I'm worried it would gather dust with my smoothie maker and the rest of the shit in the cupboard.

How long does it take to cook a batch?

KittyFane1 · 02/07/2012 21:12

Oh OP she's jealous of your cake pop maker because she has to mix her cake crumbs with icing and roll by hand ( the reason I've never been keen :( )
I have just spent the last two hours watching how to make on You tube. DD has put herself to bed!!
this is my favourite!!
Thanks

KittyFane1 · 02/07/2012 21:12
