to think our neighbour is spying on me through a wall?

We live in a semi but a semi that backs onto another house, so our entire back wall is another house's entire back wall IYSWIM. So upstairs we share a wall on our bedroom, the landing and our bathroom.

The only noise I ever hear from their house is that noise of a pull switch light cord. And the only time I ever hear it is just after I go to the bathroom at night before I go to bed. Whatever the time. I never hear it before or after. Without fail it is just after I leave the bathroom. I go to bed at very random times (DH works away...). it could be 8pm, it could be 1am. Whatever time it is, I always hear that cord go within 20 seconds of me leaving the bathroom...

Uuummmmmm AIBU to think I might be being spied on..??!!! How do I find out for sure?!!

DiamondsRaGirlsBestfriend · 02/07/2012 22:55

Where are you Gnocci ??!

pumpkinsweetie · 02/07/2012 22:56

Where are you gnocci??? I hope you haven't found a hole

hellymelly · 02/07/2012 22:57

Will have to stay up now, to find out....(I live in a house that used to be one, but is now two, we have some very thin bits in cupboards that used to be doorways. My neighbour is lovely though, and not at all creepy, I am more worried that she gets woken up and freaked out by my dd having a night terror and shouting "NOOO daddy NOOO".)

creativepebble · 02/07/2012 22:58

It's been over 20 minutes now ... < biting nails previously tapped then drummed on table >

gnocci · 02/07/2012 22:59

Right ok.

That was a bit scary I must say...

BUT no lights through any holes as far as I could see. No light cord sound either UNTIL much later. I had time to refresh DS's drink, get changed and give my eyebrows a quick pluck (lol!) and just as I was getting into bed "chug ping!" !!! So I reckon that was a good TEN MINUTES after I'd left the bathroom....

What does this mean?!!!!

OP posts:
Viewofthehills · 02/07/2012 23:01

That they go to bed about the same time as you?

MamaMaiasaura · 02/07/2012 23:02

I know want my dh to hurry home as I'm spooked

laurenamium · 02/07/2012 23:02

When I was looking after my nanas house a few years ago I was CONVINCED there was someone living in her loft, I even drunkenly left them a jam sandwich under the hatch one night as a "please don't kill me" peace offering Grin when nana returned and I asked her she said "oh I forgot to tell you about next doors stair lift Hmm FIVE WEEKS of terror I had Grin

laurenamium · 02/07/2012 23:03

Have you checked your loft? Wink

gnocci · 02/07/2012 23:04

I watched the 7/7 thing on BBC2. Maybe we watch the same progs then go to bed... !!

OP posts:
hellymelly · 02/07/2012 23:05

I think maybe you do wake them and they go to the bathroom then. do you tend to go to bed at the same time each night? Maybe it is them turning their bedroom light off after you've been to the bathroom? (they might not have a bathroom in the same place as you).

laurenamium · 02/07/2012 23:05

Just read thread I see lofts have been mentioned Blush

gnocci · 02/07/2012 23:05

Lauren - DH will be checking tomorrow night when he gets home! Its a high up hatch, will require a ladder and I'm 7m preg!

OP posts:
laurenamium · 02/07/2012 23:10

Shock you're pregnant too! Definitely make a jam sandwich!

PfftTheMagicDraco · 02/07/2012 23:12

Maybe they just go to bed at the same time as you?

My next door neighbour goes to bed at 10pm, every single night. Without fail. Exactly. Every night, I head her turn off her television, and then the floor creaks as she goes to bed.

gnocci · 02/07/2012 23:13

The thing is I go to bed random times... 8pm to 1pm...
