To ask what your blood group is if you had a baby in your late 30s or over

I'm coming up to 36 and can't ttc for a little while (hopefully just a few months) due to unrelated medical investigations. But I'm getting jittery about my age and the fact that my blood group is O+. Have seen plenty of articles online about how women who are blood group O have a much faster decline in fertility than women who are A or B. And I've been searching for anecdotal evidence on forums that this isn't always the case but can't find anything.

I know that other peoples' experiences will have no bearing on whether I'll be able to conceive myself when the time comes but I'm still desperately hoping for some reassurance that there are older mums out there who are also blood group O.

Anyone?? I'm also prepared to hear the opposite, that it really is far less likely to happen if you're blood type O...

I'm O+, I had DC1 at 38 and a half (conceived first time of trying!) and DC2 at 41 & 2mths (took 5 mths). Both easy pregnancies and natural births x

O+ and pregnant on first attempt at 34. Good luck and have fun!

olimpia · 28/06/2012 21:16

O+ had DC3 at 36. Never heard of the decreased fertility due to blood group before otherwise I would have been a nervous wreck Smile

nevertidy · 28/06/2012 21:28

B+ had baby at 39

A+

#1 at 38 conceived in 2 months ttc
#2 conceived first (and only) go! I was 40 at the time.
Did use OPKs though (just beause I am an anal control freak)which may skew your results!

Well as far as early decline in fertility is concerned, I am 48 and have been peri menopausal for 2 1/2 years which is quite early afaik. Don't know if early menopause is common amongst 0 groups.

O ... DS1 at 36, DS2 at 39. Only took a couple of months to score both times although I lost one inbetween.

Another O+ - no problems with conceiving, last child born when I was 37.

EugenesAxe · 29/06/2012 00:02

I'm O+. I conceived DS age 34 and DD age 35 and had one month's wait in total.

kelpie6333 · 29/06/2012 00:13

I'm O negative and had first DD at 35 and second DD at 37 (despite being Rhesus Negative). I think part of the mindset (as difficult as it can be) is not to be stressed about it. I have heard that a sunny holiday (with lots of sex) can solve a lot of infertility issues! Good luck. X

bogeyface · 29/06/2012 00:17

B-

First baby at 17, last one at 38, 6 children altogether and 13 miscarriages, conceived easily each time.

MrsDimples · 29/06/2012 00:18

I'm O- DC was 3 last week and I've just turned 40.

Took less than a year to conceive, with a few months were we didn't / couldn't. No help except a clear blue fertility monitor.
