Because tonight, after the Ukraine have bombed out of Euro 2012, Satan will be going for a stroll with his brass knuckles on :(

If the England fans have any sense they will head back to their hotels as quickly as they can, and stay there, but I suspect that they wont and it will be terrible :(

Scots are never pissed not to qualify.

We're just in shock when we do!

ComposHat · 19/06/2012 23:03

England aren't shite, but neither are they world beaters, sixth in the world flatters them a bit, but they are top ten/top twelve side. I think a lot of the hype comes from the press and sponsors rather than the majority of fans.

HandMadeTail · 19/06/2012 23:03

Yellow, tbh, if Scotland had got through, and you did a thread saying "we" got through, I think people would have understood who "we" referred to.

Incidentally, there are lots of other nationalities represented on MN, and we are not all whinging.

Follyfoot · 19/06/2012 23:04

What a strange thread...

Rioting, worrying, trouble, all going to hell?

England won, thats great, I'm happy. Still, if others want to dwell on hypothetical negatives instead, feel free, but YABU.

takingiteasy · 19/06/2012 23:04

Bogey... When has that ever actually happened though?

bogeyface · 19/06/2012 23:05

Takingit you mean violence after and England match abroad?

ComposHat · 19/06/2012 23:06

Scots are never pissed not to qualify

It must be the only time Scots are never pissed (pissed up, not pissed off).

bogeyface · 19/06/2012 23:06

after an England match

takingiteasy · 19/06/2012 23:06

takingiteasy · 19/06/2012 23:07

Why would I not support England?

Because I am not English. And because it is really boring hearing stuff like how great "we" are at football - not so much when you're in England, but even in Scotland.

And because you then get 20 million programmes on telly with the English celebrating and going on and on about winning. And it's mentioned all the time, with no consideration for the fact that there not everyone in Britain is Scottish.

I think you'll find it's quite common, in other countries too - see for example Catalonia/Spain.

yellowraincoat · 19/06/2012 23:10

The Scots are a pissed off country, it's true.

Often pissed up too.

But at least we can go abroad, watch football and not throw patio furniture around after a match.

bogeyface · 19/06/2012 23:12

I am sure it has happened......... erm......

OP posts:
Follyfoot · 19/06/2012 23:13

To be fair, there are other major issues in Scottish football that dont occur in England, or one major issue to be exact.

Football doesnt bring out the best in any nation, thats the sad reality.

Follyfoot · 19/06/2012 23:15

And if Manchester counts as abroad, then the Rangers fans rioted pretty badly in 2008...

WorraLiberty · 19/06/2012 23:16

But at least we can go abroad, watch football and not throw patio furniture around after a match.

Oddly enough, I can manage to do that too Wink

yellowraincoat · 19/06/2012 23:17

Scottish fans are saints, salt of the earth, won't hear a bad word against them.

I'm pissed. Obv. I'm Scottish. Good night.

saintmerryweather · 19/06/2012 23:24

tomorrow all i will hear at work is that 'we' won the match....uh...actually 'we' didnt win anything, they' did....you did fuck all sat in your armchair with a can of lager in your hand shouting at the telly!

ComposHat · 19/06/2012 23:26

I'm English and I live in Scotland, but don't like the condescending attitude that the English have 'oh I shall patronise the plucky little Scots with my support' with the implied sense of superiority they are being magnanimous and fair minded and what a pity the chippy Scots can't do the same.

I take completely the opposite view, I want them to lose every match they play, this isn't an anti-Scots rant, far from it. It is an acknowledgement of the century old rivalry between the two teams, nothing more or less.

They are our traditional footballing rivals so I want to see their team of pub players banished from major competitions, humiliated at every turn, to be continually reminded of their ineptitude and have to face the bitter realisation that however shite England are Scotland are even more so.

Rindercella · 19/06/2012 23:29

"But at least we can go abroad, watch football and not throw patio furniture around after a match."

Just can't do it in Scotland though when Rangers are playing Celtic Wink

bogeyface · 19/06/2012 23:30

Compos I dont do it in a patronising way. I do it because there is still a team in a tournament from "over here" that might just trounce one of the teams from "over there". Its a kinship thing, we share an island, so I support other nations on that island.

And Ireland.

I am just curious why it doesnt work the other way.

Grin at Compos!

ComposHat · 19/06/2012 23:32

Exactly, rindcella The domestic violence rate goes through the roof when the old firm play each other.

Scotland has more than its fair share of knuckleheaded supporters.

Rangers (soon to be no more, hurrah!) have caused countless trouble on European away trips.
