Because tonight, after the Ukraine have bombed out of Euro 2012, Satan will be going for a stroll with his brass knuckles on :(

If the England fans have any sense they will head back to their hotels as quickly as they can, and stay there, but I suspect that they wont and it will be terrible :(

I'm a season ticket holder and I go to the pub for a couple of pints before I even go the match! Tutut.

takingiteasy · 19/06/2012 22:22

England will get put out on penalties, it's the law and a great source of hilarity north of the border

BonnieBumble · 19/06/2012 22:25

I really think bringing Satan into this is a bit OTT.

ilovesooty · 19/06/2012 22:25

I like football, but dont see why we cant stay indoors, rather than going to the pub, drinking in excess and ending up in trouble?

As I said: I went to the pub and stayed sober. I watched it at home tonight as I had no one to go with but would much rather have been out.

And i am sure a fair few men go, oh england is playing tonight hun, must go to the pub to watch it......I AM SURE THERE ARE A NUMBER THAT DO!!

So what? Why shouldn't they as long as their family life doesn't suffer? And why shouldn't women go if they want to as well?

bogeyface · 19/06/2012 22:29

Bonnie I didnt bring Satan (who doesnt exist btw) into it, its just a phrase my dad used to use to mean something going horribly wrong. I could have said going to hell in a handbasket and it would have meant that same thing.

OP posts:
ilovesooty · 19/06/2012 22:32

I know some men who enjoy watching England in the pub but I don't know any who call their partners "hun".

complexnumber · 19/06/2012 22:34

Bogeyface : Why dont you file it under F and O?

...let us see shall we?

Snowboarder · 19/06/2012 22:35

I am confused about this thread. Am I right in thinking the OP is basically saying 'oh dear, England have won, I hope it doesn't all kick off in the Ukraine' and lots of people are flaming her for.... What exactly? Honest question. I'm tired and could have missed something that would make sense of people's reactions.

I think competitive sport on the whole is a great thing but have never understood why football seems to bring out the worst in some people (I mean generally, not on this thread btw!) I read recently that there is a strong link between football and DV too - makes me Sad to think there are people out there preying for England (or whoever) to win matches just so their partner won't abuse them. Horrific.

Snowboarder · 19/06/2012 22:35

Praying not preying FFS!

AnyoneForTennis · 19/06/2012 22:36

What a strange thread!

yellowraincoat · 19/06/2012 22:37

What's with the "we" ? "We" didn't win, I'm from Scotland.

Sorry to get all factual on you.

youarekidding · 19/06/2012 22:37

I agree. All Bogey has said is she is worried about what will happen so is she BU to be apphrehensive about it?

YANBU IMO. It is worrying that riots will happen. For any sport anywhere but football has the history of violent riots.

NoComet · 19/06/2012 22:38

Fuck, that means more football.

I hate football in Summer. I hate the way football make people behave full stop.

But most of all I HATE FOOTBALL during WIMBLEDON!!

WorraLiberty · 19/06/2012 22:38

ilovesooty

Everything you've said, with bells on Grin

RumbleGreen · 19/06/2012 22:38

Well England never cheated the guy who got the ball was offside so play should have stopped before they even got to the box. The goal being disallowed probably used up all England's luck though.

WorraLiberty · 19/06/2012 22:39

yellow perhaps the OP isn't Scottish...hence the 'we' Confused

yellowraincoat · 19/06/2012 22:42

Worra, it gets really tiring reading "we" to refer to all the people on the board, because I'm sorry but it's clear that that's what she meant, when you're not, you're referring to the English posters.

Just say "England won" is it that hard.

Rindercella · 19/06/2012 22:43

But the OP expressed it as her thought yellow, so of course - if she is English - she thought we.

Are Scotland in the Euros? I honestly don't care can't remember Confused

WorraLiberty · 19/06/2012 22:44

yellow if you are English or an England fan then 'we' did actually win tonight...I think you're being pedantic on that one.

However I do understand your point about the general 'we' thing on the board meaning English...that must be annoying.

But in this instance, it makes perfect sense.

takingiteasy · 19/06/2012 22:44

And it's that season we (as in anyone that isn't English) get fucked off with the coverage. We're not all English!

yellowraincoat · 19/06/2012 22:45

No, I'm being pedantic. Feel free to think that.

Of course Scotland aren't through, we are shit.

As you were.

winnybella · 19/06/2012 22:45

And yes, i know that they wouldnt have gone through anyway, but when did common sense stand in the way of a good riot?

What do you mean? If Ukraine had won tonight, they would have gone on to the quarterfinals.

takingiteasy · 19/06/2012 22:45

Scotland aren't in! Scotland are never in anything! We're shit and we know it.

yellowraincoat · 19/06/2012 22:49

I meant I'm NOT being pedantic. NOT!!!

It would be weird for me to write

"YES WE ARE THROUGH" and then go on to post something without clarifying that I meant Scotland.

Because people do not understand "we" to mean Scotland. "We" means England.

It is othering. I hate it.

Not that Scotland would ever go through, you understand.

Rindercella · 19/06/2012 22:49

That's the difference isn't it - at least you know you're shit. "We" (I'm English, so I mean England) think we're fucking fantastic, whereas we're mediocre at best. Grin
