to want to shove Katie's slippy dippy soap where the sun don't shine?

Now. I actually really like the premise of I Can Cook - show kids where food comes from, teach then to cook actual dishes by themselves etc etc etc. But JESUS she's irritating! Let's pop a pepper! Let's do a chicken dance! Choose life! SOD. OFF. That amount of forced energy in a human being only ever ends in hernias in my experience.

Grin

It's her guitar and very very bad singing that gets me!

She's even cheesier and less tuneful than Nina (who we love in this house)

HappyHippyChick · 18/06/2012 15:14

YANBU, she really annoys me - especially her nose wrinkling. Today was a new low in the trip to source the food; she went to a fishmongers, picked a piece of trout and got the fishmonger to wrap it for her and then had the cheek to say 'wasn't that interesting?'. NO, no it bloody wasn't. It was just fecking shopping, my kids see that every bloody week! grrr!

YoulllaughAboutItOneDay · 18/06/2012 15:15

Aw, I quite like Katie. Mind you, she has a lot to answer for with the 'snow for the dough' trick. DD1 now covers the room in flour every time flour is involved...

NannyTutorAtLarge · 18/06/2012 15:19

So glad to find some fellow Katie-cringers! Thank you! She reminds me of a school Prefect of the kind liable to dob you in for having a fag at the top of the field.

I just find some of the things she makes really odd. Does anyone actually make these things with their children?

Shodan · 18/06/2012 15:30

Grin I like the faces of the adults when they have to get to try the offerings.

'Mmmm. Beetroot, sardine paste and caper turnover. That's de-licious ' (puke puke in the corner)

SardineQueen · 18/06/2012 15:30

She is very jolly hockey sticks.
Too much for me really.
And DD1 keeps going on to let me "pop a pepper". I have not paid attention enough to see it on the TV but she gets a pepper and tries to push her fingers through where the stalk is. As her fingers are not made of steel blades, her efforts have no effect on the pepper at all. So what's that all about Confused

GwendolineMaryLacey · 18/06/2012 15:33

I prefer the faces of the kids

"Today kiddiwinks we're going to make spinach and broccoli parcels!" and their faces fall because you know damn well they wanted to make chocolate cake :o

Sirzy · 18/06/2012 15:39

If she did make a chocolate cake it would probably have spinach and broccoli in it!

PetitRat · 18/06/2012 15:41

Someone - please explain what this is all about! Who is Katie and what is the programme?

Stannwigg · 18/06/2012 15:44

It's her face I hate. No reason, just want to slap her stupid wrinkling nose.

DamselInDisgrace · 18/06/2012 15:49

DS2 loves 'I can cook'. He does all the actions with it and even enjoys the dreadful singing.

I usually marvel at how ridiculous the 'safe' suggestions are. There's pop a pepper and then rip it up, there's put it in a cup and snip it up with scissors (this is not a great way to cut up cherry tomatoes), and then there's the use of a table knife to cut things (ignoring the fact that blunt knives are often much more dangerous than sharp ones because you have to press far too hard to get them to do anything). I think it's fair enough to say that they just need a grown up to help them cut things up, rather than coming up with silly work arounds.

Amykins · 18/06/2012 15:49

My daughter loves her and that is enough for me. Also, think the "slippy-dippy soap" song is catchy. Actually did make something from the show once - obviously daughter didn't try it.

DamselInDisgrace · 18/06/2012 15:50

PetitRat: it a cbeebies programme about cooking.

Apparently it's Katy not Katie too.

AvocadoAndFitch · 18/06/2012 16:41

Much worse is her fruity fruity fruity dance. Drives me to stabbing fruit in a kind of voodoo doll way.

surroundedbyblondes · 18/06/2012 16:44

She is just far too keen!

But DD1 loves her and the song has got stuck in my brain. Grrrrr

MammaTJ · 18/06/2012 16:49

If I had to spend any more than about 5 minutes with her I would feel a need to stab her!

I can't even really watch her on TV.

She has to be on drugs!

JoandMax · 18/06/2012 16:49

She is immensely annoying, I have to leave the room if it's on for fear of shouting FUCK OFF at the TV.....

Also, why does she always stand with her legs apart?? Weirdo

Rowgtfc72 · 18/06/2012 21:07

I have to admit we had easy peasy pizza for a few weeks for tea. I had to get the recipe off the cbeebies website as I find that woman as iritating as Mr tumble.

TheSkiingGardener · 18/06/2012 21:14

The songs are catchy and DS loves it. She is just too jolly, jolly all the time to be true. And her clothes! What does she do, peel them on, everything is skin tight and then she puts on that bloody enormous bumbag. She looks like a deformed camel.

The dances and completely unrealistic and unsafe ways to cut food up drive me nuts too. And as for the episodes with the guitar, ARGHHHH!

Still got it on series record for DS though.

StepOutOfSpring · 18/06/2012 21:22

I like her - she's a good children's entertainer. Kids love cheesy at that age anyway!

It will be the producer/director who tell her to behave like that anyway, so it's not really fair to blame her!

littleweed10 · 18/06/2012 21:36

The I can cook cookbook is fab, and only pictures of Katie no speak!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 18/06/2012 21:40

Tell me you didn't put grapes on your easy prays pizza? :o

GwendolineMaryLacey · 18/06/2012 21:40

Easy peasy ffs.

NonnyMuss · 18/06/2012 21:45
... like Katy, but pissed and funny.

Actually, I'd rather my kids watched the drunk version, the Beebies one is terrible.
