if it was going to be shown on television every night on ??

Is it just me who would be embarrassed? I mean, I don't usually judge other people's houses, really I don't, but I don't often see such a dirty house on television.

I have asked a couple of friends if they have noticed anything unkempt about the house featured, but they honestly had not noticed before I said anything. Now they say they notice more and more things every time they watch it. Blush

So AIBU to think that of all of the houses that must have been put forward, it's a little strange of Nick Jr to think this is a typical home that a child lives in and therefore use this particular house for this interlude every night??

I totally understand an untidy house, but I feel like the only person that sees all of the dirt and clutter in this house. I'm just surprised that a tv station would choose this house. Hmm

Is there a story behind this that I don't know about? Is this one of the producers/directors houses? Hmm

thats nothing, you should see my house

LimeLeafLizard · 15/06/2012 22:05

Grin at this thread. OP I knew from your first sentence which house you were talking about, as I have noticed the same thing! But then I am known by my friends as being excessively house proud.

It is a lovely interlude though -I love the song and think the children are great, particularly the girl who falls asleep.

I will look back and think , oh fuck I shouldn't have left that shoe on the stairs...

oh no, i come from a working class background too. my mother's house is immaculate and always has been

personally if i have a choice between playing with my children or cleaning dust off the stairs then the children win every time.

i don't know anyone who has looked back and thought "gosh, i wish i had cleaned more when the kids were little", but i may know a few who wish they'd spent more time with them!!

life is too short to be cleaning all the time. and if you have a cleaner it doesn't count!!!! i used to have one, loved her, got too poor to afford her any more, which is sad.
so now i live in a fairly dusty house with lots of clutter.

thebestisyettocome · 15/06/2012 22:15

Well your w-c experience is different to mine. Perhaps it's a regional thing? Friend of mine spent 30 mins the other night telling me how mortified she was when an unexpected visitor called and he house was, in her words, a total mess. That is a conversation I could have with a lot of people I know and these are not pollyanna housewifey types. They arte women with jobs and kids and very little time, but heyho, everyone is different...

thebestisyettocome · 15/06/2012 22:17

Wondered how long before the 'I prefer playing with my kids argument' would be wheeled out. Honestly, can't you do both?

thisisyesterday · 15/06/2012 22:18

i said... IF I HAD A CHOICE BETWEEN THE TWO

not... if i had time to do both, i'd only play with the children

thisisyesterday · 15/06/2012 22:19

and you are right, everyone is different.

you like your house immaculate, i am not that bothered. my house is clean and not particularly tidy. and it has a bit of dust around, liek on the stairs and the top of picture frames, and there are cobwebs on the stairs.

it's slightly odd that some people find it so very difficult to comprehend that other people have different priorities to them and can judge those people without knowing anything about their lives.

thebestisyettocome · 15/06/2012 22:22

Blimey. No need to shout. I rarely sit down and play with my kids I suppose as they're happy to do stuff between themselves. I don't know which is more mind-numbingly boring, trying to get my dc to paint or do 'craft' or clean. Thankfully I can manage to do both and still work Smile

thebestisyettocome · 15/06/2012 22:23

Hahaha. My house is not immaculate.
But it is cleaner than the Nick Jr house.

thisisyesterday · 15/06/2012 22:24

sorry, you didn't seem to see it first time.

i have lots of memories of wanting my mum to play, and her refusing to because she was "just... hoovering/washing up/doing the dusting"

thebestisyettocome · 15/06/2012 22:26

Oh yes. I get that. I hate that too but as my mum says there is always a happy medium.

thebestisyettocome · 15/06/2012 22:29

Actually the truth is today my house IS immaculate but only because I've cleaned it. Yesterday it was a different story believe me.
I guess my point is unless you live in a mansion but don't have a cleaner (but why wouldn't you) how long does it actually take to clean most houses?

LentillyFart · 15/06/2012 22:41

LeQueen - I'm sure it's lovely having a cleaner. I had one once but all she did was nick my teabags and push a hoover round looking all the while like she'd rather be in bed! I am just missing the cleaning gene. I have accepted this and given up the fight!

I will however need to clean the pool of widdle from Grin @ this..........

I will look back and think , oh fuck I shouldn't have left that shoe on the stairs...

thebestisyettocome · 15/06/2012 22:45

Hopefully she won't be thinking that when she's lying at the bottom of the stairs having tripped over it.

Youvebeentangoed · 15/06/2012 22:57

Well if others are struggling to see the dirt on the YouTube link on their computers, it is no wonder I couldn't see it on my mobile. I saw something on the steps which looked to me like a bit of moonlight shining through the window?

Sink also looked much much more spotless than mine (in my defence, mine isn't spotless as after decorating and throwing the paint brushes in it, mine is currently covered in paint blobs)

Thankfully, my eldest has grown out of Nick Jr. I would feel the need to rip my ears off hearing that song. I hope he has an influence on his little brother and persuades him that other channels are better, like Disney Cinemagic not that I sit glued to the Disney movies myself, of course

lisad123 · 15/06/2012 23:04

Well you would die on the spot in my dust bunny hell hole Grin

BonnieBumble · 15/06/2012 23:09

Umm I don't get it.

MidnightinMoscow · 15/06/2012 23:10

I have seen this on TV too OP and agree there is layers of dirt on the stairs. It does look pretty dirty.

MidnightinMoscow · 15/06/2012 23:10

Sorry, there are layers not is.

bronze · 15/06/2012 23:20

Perhaps it's dust from the boots of all the filming crew going up and down the stairs

bronze · 15/06/2012 23:21

Also glad none of you can see my house

GhouliaYelps · 15/06/2012 23:23

I think this interlude may have been shot in
A house that some children could relate to, so many of the programmes have a plastic, neon coloured modern house that children can't really relate to living in.
Many, many children grow up in a house as featured in the clip. I don't think it was dirty just a bit badly maintained. But they don't want to alienate all viewers. I think it's a positive thing.

MammaTJ · 15/06/2012 23:34

I think your TV is very blurred!!
