if it was going to be shown on television every night on ??

Is it just me who would be embarrassed? I mean, I don't usually judge other people's houses, really I don't, but I don't often see such a dirty house on television.

I have asked a couple of friends if they have noticed anything unkempt about the house featured, but they honestly had not noticed before I said anything. Now they say they notice more and more things every time they watch it. Blush

So AIBU to think that of all of the houses that must have been put forward, it's a little strange of Nick Jr to think this is a typical home that a child lives in and therefore use this particular house for this interlude every night??

I totally understand an untidy house, but I feel like the only person that sees all of the dirt and clutter in this house. I'm just surprised that a tv station would choose this house. Hmm

Is there a story behind this that I don't know about? Is this one of the producers/directors houses? Hmm

OP if all you Have to worry about is how untidy a house on a tv nighttime song I would think myself very very lucky indeed (freak!)

CailinDana · 15/06/2012 21:23

I can guarantee that's not what happened littlemiss. TV programmes very very rarely use houses for filming, they are far too small and don't have enough electrical points to cope with lights, cameras, monitors, etc. Shooting a tv programme doesn't just involve someone going in with a handheld camera and switching on the overhead lights.

thisisyesterday · 15/06/2012 21:23

ok well maybe i just can't see it clearly on youtube, and we don't have tv so can't watch it on nickjr to see!

regarding the "clutter" though... not everyone likes a minimalist show-home to live in.
we don't have much space here, and for a while yes... shoes lived on the stairs

i now have a nice shoe rack that DS3 continually tips over, spreading shoes across the hallway.

in fact, i have a lot of STUFF. i don't think there is anything wrong with clutter is there? Confused

littlemisssarcastic · 15/06/2012 21:23

Oh I have many more pressing things to worry about, but I am taking a break from the serious worries for a while. Grin

I'm just not getting the problem with shoes on the stairs. Life lesson number one - look where you're bloody going and don't trip over the buggering shoes. How hard can it be?

5madthings · 15/06/2012 21:24

but the stairs are wooden painted stairs, well used so they maybe look a bit grubby but unless you sand and paint again they arent going to look spotless? meh i like the look of the house, tho i find the song a bit odd but my little two love it. and its not a real house anyway is it?

usual my stairs always have things on them, there is a pile of clean washing at the bottom waiting to go away, pjs that are taken off in the morning are often put on the stairs to go back up but stay there till bedtime when they are put on again, i do hoover them every few days but meh we are all still alive [shrug]

OPeaches · 15/06/2012 21:25

Can someone YouTube link it?

usualsuspect · 15/06/2012 21:25

There seems to be a trainer on the side next to my Pc , fuck knows where that came from Grin

misslinnet · 15/06/2012 21:26

OPeaches , youtube link is in the original post.

LingDiLong · 15/06/2012 21:27

Blimey there's some spikey people on this thread. Either there are a load of TV production people on mumsnet tonight or a lot of people who store their shoes on the stairs and are VERY defensive about it!!

LentillyFart · 15/06/2012 21:28

Just a trainer? The OP would turn seven shades of puce if she could see the desk I'm sitting at. There's a bra, five piles of dvds that I can't give away on ebay never mind sell, two empty cups, loads of fags, make up, cds, perfume........oh it's endless. I just don't get tidy freakery!

usualsuspect · 15/06/2012 21:29

I'm not spikey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LingDiLong · 15/06/2012 21:30

Alright, alright you're not spikey, none of you are and the house on NickJr is lovely, just lovely, and shoes should always be kept on stairs

MateyM00 · 15/06/2012 21:31

hd tv by any chance?

MAYBE that was the cleaned and tidied version?

BTW i always Hmm when i see a dryer full of clothes in a real life house on tv, because you would, weven if you didnt do anything else, you would hide the washing wouldnt you?

I saw a documentary on Madeline McCann, where there was a dryer in the window of the McCann's house, just sitting in the sunshine drying clothes, and i thought.... 'I bet the producer did that for effect, to show that they are normal people, not posh people to do all thier washing and ironing for them' but really if they were normal people wouldnt they have insisted that this be taken down?

(Please dont take it as bashing MM, they are obviously grieving for thier daughter, and a washing dryer is a tiny insignificant thing)

usualsuspect · 15/06/2012 21:31

well I forgot to mention the mount everest size pile of papers, cups , glasses wires and pot of pens that don't work

usualsuspect · 15/06/2012 21:32

I'm not angry Angry

PrisonerOfWaugh · 15/06/2012 21:33

Dust bunnies sounds so cutesy, we call it Slut's wool in this house Grin

And I really can't see why the OP is getting her knickers twisted over it!

thisisyesterday · 15/06/2012 21:33

ahh lentilly you're my kind of person!

thisisyesterday · 15/06/2012 21:34

no.. .why would you move the dryer?

cos you don't want people to know that you wash/dry/wear clothes? Confused

The stairs are really grim. Perhaps the parents were asked for it to look 'normal' but ffs there is no excuse for so much dirt.

LingDiLong · 15/06/2012 21:37

Well I really can't see that the OP is even getting her knickers twisted at all!! She's wondering why this house looks so different to every other 'TV' house. I also wonder that.

usualsuspect · 15/06/2012 21:37

I need to see the grim stairs

littlemisssarcastic · 15/06/2012 21:37

Matey I do have HDTV, but not sure if this is on a HD channel. Hmm

It's not really easy to see it on the youtube clip, I must admit, but on tv, it is so obvious!!
