if it was going to be shown on television every night on ??

Is it just me who would be embarrassed? I mean, I don't usually judge other people's houses, really I don't, but I don't often see such a dirty house on television.

I have asked a couple of friends if they have noticed anything unkempt about the house featured, but they honestly had not noticed before I said anything. Now they say they notice more and more things every time they watch it. Blush

So AIBU to think that of all of the houses that must have been put forward, it's a little strange of Nick Jr to think this is a typical home that a child lives in and therefore use this particular house for this interlude every night??

I totally understand an untidy house, but I feel like the only person that sees all of the dirt and clutter in this house. I'm just surprised that a tv station would choose this house. Hmm

Is there a story behind this that I don't know about? Is this one of the producers/directors houses? Hmm

I am so happy that a couple of other people can see it too. Grin

Thank you andyflo , Outraged and JellyBelly.

If the items have been specifically placed by the production crew, why would they put lots of shoes on the stairs, especially with this being aimed at young children? Confused

The stairs are grim. I am glad my tv isn't blurry after all. Grin

OP I think this every time I see it and my house is never tidy! The dirt of that stairs is a bloody disgrace. It's DIRT. Not clutter. I'm behind you 100% OP

wishiwasonholiday · 15/06/2012 21:03

I couldn't see anything wrong either Confused, tidier than my house and mine isn't very messy.

lisaro · 15/06/2012 21:03

WTF is a dust bunny?

popsypie · 15/06/2012 21:03

Think it is meant to look lived in and cosy. It would look a bit weird if it was immaculate surely? Like the poor girl has been lured into a house where some odd people with OCD and a Mr Sheen addiction live. The house looks like a family home to me.

LentillyFart · 15/06/2012 21:04

Seriously? Shoes on the stairs freak you out that badly?

You need help.

CailinDana · 15/06/2012 21:05

I've been on MN a while but this is easily the weirdest thread I've seen.

You do realise it's not a real house OP?

LingDiLong · 15/06/2012 21:06

OP, I knew exactly which house you meant without even switching over to NickJr. And even though I'm a complete slattern I agree with you. It IS an odd house to feature on TV, usually the houses they show on those kinds of segments are 'artfully' cluttered but incredibly clean with lots of brand new looking furniture. Like something out of an Ikea catalogue. This house is wierdly normal...a bit grubby, could do with a lick of paint, no arful clutter just normal mess. I can't help but wonder if it's a deliberate thing or not but yes, I'd have been mortified to have my house appear on TV in its 'normal' state and would want it thoroughly cleaned and a bit glammed up first.

TheCrackFox · 15/06/2012 21:06

It is hardly a case for Kim and Aggie.

clemetteattlee · 15/06/2012 21:06

Is dust bad??

IneedAbetterNicknameIn2012 · 15/06/2012 21:06

The youtube link is so unclear that I can't see any dirt/dust bunnies etc. Nest time I can be arsed to watch it on Tv I will look but still suspect it will be fine

littlemisssarcastic · 15/06/2012 21:07

Fish You see it too?? Grin

I'm beginning to think the house is a little like those 3D pictures IYSWIM where some people can see them and to other people, it's just a mass of dots and patterns.

Some people can see the filth in this house and some people can't, or maybe the ones who are seeing it (like me) are seeing shadows that look like filth??

A couple of shoes on the stairs, can't see a big problem with that. It looks a bit dusty but that may be the lighting, its quite dark.

littlemisssarcastic · 15/06/2012 21:12

LentillyFart I think I said earlier, it is the filth on the stairs that imo is far worse than the shoes on the stairs, although I do find it strange that shoes would be placed on the stairs on an interlude that is aimed at young DC.

LingdiLong I agree. I have been subjected watched quite a few childrens channels over the last few years, and the others all seem clean and as you say 'artfully cluttered', yet this one just looks dark and grim. Hmm

MizK · 15/06/2012 21:12

YABU.

Television is supposed to babysit your children whilst you sneak away for a moment of peace.

Stop watching it and upsetting yourself over riskily placed toys on the stairs, go to the kitchen and eat an illicit biscuit or three whilst your DCs are hypnotised by this dreck.

CailinDana · 15/06/2012 21:13

Do you seriously think a film crew turned up at this child's house and just started filming? Seriously?

My stairs are a bloody trip hazard tbh

I just slung all the washing from off the line on there about 3 days ago

littlemisssarcastic · 15/06/2012 21:14

MizK That sounds like a good idea. Grin

I just find it strange I suppose. I'm not horrified by it, just perplexed.

OP posts:
AlexReidsLonelyBraincell · 15/06/2012 21:15

Is it not just that the paint on the stairs is a bit scuffed? (As painted stairs invariably become).

LingDiLong · 15/06/2012 21:16

Cailin, that's the point, every other 'real' home I've seen featured on kids TV looks like it has been clean and buffed to perfection by a production team. This one really does look like they just arrived unannounced and started filming.

I don't think the OP is trying to say it is any more dirty than your average home, just that TV homes usually look nothing like your average slightly grubby home.

littlemisssarcastic · 15/06/2012 21:17

CailinDana It certainly looks that way.

soverylucky not as much as filth, but I suppose it is a trip hazard, and not a v good example to set to small children?

usual So are mine much of the time Blush but I don't have the nation looking into my house and going up my stairs every night. Grin

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 15/06/2012 21:21

It's kinda good that they show how real homes are though.

Although I have no idea what you are on about tbh

misslinnet · 15/06/2012 21:22

I'm finding it hard to see the dirt, but maybe that's down to the picture quality on my computer.

I don't like the clutter on the stairs though, it's a tripping hazard. They should put the shoes somewhere sensible.
