if it was going to be shown on television every night on ??

Is it just me who would be embarrassed? I mean, I don't usually judge other people's houses, really I don't, but I don't often see such a dirty house on television.

I have asked a couple of friends if they have noticed anything unkempt about the house featured, but they honestly had not noticed before I said anything. Now they say they notice more and more things every time they watch it. Blush

So AIBU to think that of all of the houses that must have been put forward, it's a little strange of Nick Jr to think this is a typical home that a child lives in and therefore use this particular house for this interlude every night??

I totally understand an untidy house, but I feel like the only person that sees all of the dirt and clutter in this house. I'm just surprised that a tv station would choose this house. Hmm

Is there a story behind this that I don't know about? Is this one of the producers/directors houses? Hmm

i believe you, lots of other people have said the same thing. you just can't see it on youtube

and yes, i agree it's a bit odd if it's actually really very dirty.

clutter is fine though, some people like stuff in their houses

littlemisssarcastic · 15/06/2012 21:42

thebestisyettocome That's my thoughts. There is so much dirt on the stairs. Surely that hasn't just been sprinkled placed there? It's the kind of build up that can only come from months of not wiping it off.

LingDiLong You are absolutely correct. I find it perplexing tbh, it's not my house so not bothered, but still wonder why the tv people chose to present the house in this way. Confused

usual Can't remember what time it's on tv, but it's evening time, about 6pm I think, and you couldn't fail to miss the filthy stairs watching it on a tv unless you are watching it on a tiny television possibly.

There's too much shit piled On the stairs. I'm a lazy moo but never have shit on the stairs, it's dangerous. There's actual dirt too which does make me a bit yuk but I probably not have noticed if I wasn't looking for it.

That fucking song makes me want to poke my ears out.

thisisyesterday · 15/06/2012 21:46

actually not sure if that will work, it's here if not

Lakota · 15/06/2012 21:48

I don't have Nick jr but have just watched the clip and I see what looks like loads of dust on the stairs. No problem with the bathroom particularly, but agree the stairs do appear to be grim!

usualsuspect · 15/06/2012 21:49

I don't know what a slipper bath is

Lakota · 15/06/2012 21:49

I don't obsessively dust my stairs or anything - it looks like plaster dust maybe?

usualsuspect · 15/06/2012 21:50

I don't know if my stairs are dusty, theres that much crap on them I can't see the dust

thebestisyettocome · 15/06/2012 21:51

Messy and tired houses are fine, but like the OP says, why so much dirt? A decent detergent isn't expensive and it doesn't take long to clean up a few stairs Hmm

usualsuspect · 15/06/2012 21:53

oh Hmm to you too

I bloody love that thisis - it deserves a place alongside my "Fuck Off - I'm Smoking" card that has pride of place on my memo board (which is, apart from that, totally untroubled by memos!)

I really don't understand why people take pride in being dirty.

LentillyFart · 15/06/2012 21:57

Is it really a matter of 'taking pride in being dirty'? For me it's more a matter of being quite quite certain that my last thoughts on my deathbed will not be "Shit I really bloody wish I'd done more cleaning"

TandB · 15/06/2012 21:57

Usualsuspect - I can't believe you just chuck your laundry on the stairs. I carefully organise my laundry using the stairs - DS1's stuff on the bottom step, DS2 on the second step, DP on the third, me on the fourth and household stuff on the fifth. Tea towels get slung over the bannisters along with anything I have decided to get rid of and anything needing mending.

And then it stays there for days.

usualsuspect · 15/06/2012 21:57

I know its dangerous, but my bloody cat likes to lurk on the stairs

It's a shock when you stagger down in the morning and stand on him tbh

usualsuspect · 15/06/2012 22:01

I could use the cat to dust the stairs though...

thebestisyettocome · 15/06/2012 22:01

I'm not a clean freak by any stretch of the imagination but honestly, how long does it take to brush some steps? Maybe it's my w-c background where all the women in my family would die if their house was filmed looking so grim...

In this house the cat would get his own step....

5madthings · 15/06/2012 22:03

kungfupanda i do the same, each of the boys clothes go on a step each, then a step for dd and mine and dp's stuff as it all goes int eh same rule, tea towels get hung on the stairgate into the kitchen, towels in their own pile with bedding as it all goes in the same cupdboard. tbh it generally is taken upstairs the same day, BUT once it gets upstairs its quite common for clothes to be left in the piles in the bedrooms and not get put away, they just get worn again before making it back to the wash.

my house isnt dirty, i generally clean and tidy as i go, but with 5 kids no its not a show home, i hoover daily, wipe the bathroom and toilet daily and give it a good clean at least once a week, but we have walls that need plastering, and various other bits of diy to do around the house, so it is never going to look fabulous, its clean, reasonably tidy and lived in.

usualsuspect · 15/06/2012 22:03

Did they scrub their front door steps as well?
