Have been waiting for three weeks now for a card refund after my 11 week old son was rushed to hospital and I had to cancel my order. I have called the 3 times now and have been sent £15 worth of vouchers and assured it would be in my account today... It's not have just spoken to the bank and there is nothing pending. It's nearly £60! I need that money for food. I am actually so angry I am crying now.

Oh hotheels that's shit of them to take so long. Keep phoning, keep calm but call them back and explain, talk to a manager, stay on the line until they do it. There's many ways for them to get that money to you within a day.

MarySA · 15/06/2012 10:36

This does not surprise me in the least. Tesco's are a total nightmare. Very good at taking folks money but difficult when asked to hand it back even for a very good reason. I've not found this with other supermarkets. They are the worst by far.

hotheels · 15/06/2012 10:37

Thanks for reply. I have just called customer services and she is contacting the store again so am waiting for a call back. The thing is this is the third time I have had to do this and still nothing! Am tempted to drag the kids to Tesco and take goods to the value of £60 and walk!

In the meantime is there anyone that can help you out?

MarySA · 15/06/2012 10:37

I agree with takingiteasy. Keep phoning and keep calm. Not easy I know. And don't be fobbed off.

Iheartpasties · 15/06/2012 10:40

awful treatment from tesco. that is a lot of money for anyone, and you just cant put a price on the bloody inconvenience of it all.

hotheels · 15/06/2012 10:46

hah they just told me it had been refunded again an offered me another 20 quid.

hotheels · 15/06/2012 11:11

have just spoken to the customer service manager at the call centre who offered me a payment card to the value of the refund in question which surprisingly i can only use at tesco! not much good when I need to get electric is it?
have spoken to the bank again who have told me it will still take 3-5 working days to show up on my am waiting for the customer service manager to call me back again.
Who can I contact about this? is it theft? police?

hotheels · 15/06/2012 11:14

OP posts:
hotheels · 15/06/2012 11:19

I'd even be willing to go to the store in question and collect my money in cash!

OP posts:
hotheels · 15/06/2012 11:51

How the hell am I suppose to warm bottles with no electric? I have no gas either so no hot water either. I need my money back now.

How horrible tesco are crap Sad have they called back? Have you said you will go collect it in cash? You could threaten to go to the local paper...

BlackOutTheSun · 15/06/2012 12:00

Tell them that the store can issue the giftcard. All the store will have to do is put the money into the giftcard, then find something up to that value. Pay for it using the card, refund it then give you the cash. I use to work for them it isn't hard

civilfawlty · 15/06/2012 12:01

We can tweet for you. It does tend to get things moving...

griphook · 15/06/2012 12:04

Do you have any emergency electric or are you already using. Personally is go to the store with my card and demand the money either in cash or put on the card,

AlbertoFrog · 15/06/2012 12:06

Can you get a cash refund on a purchase from a gift card? I thought you got another gift card in return.

Can't stand Tesco customer service. My knees quake if ever I have to approach the desk.

Sorry, no help but good luck hotheels

BlackOutTheSun · 15/06/2012 12:07

AlbertoFrog If they have fucked up they can

Magneto · 15/06/2012 12:14

I hope they get things sorted for you but in the meantime, just to help lessen the pressure and stress on you right now, I just want to say you don't have to warm the bottles so don't worry so much about that. A lot of people will say it's cruel blah blah blah but really, it's not and your ds will be fine if he drinks a cold bottle. Mine is Wink and getting them used to drinking it cold sometimes saves you a lot of hassle in the long run.

ObiWan · 15/06/2012 12:17

If you have no electricity or gas, I wouldn't rely on Tesco or the bank on a Friday.

You'd be better off going to a Job Centre/ Benefits office and asking for an emergency loan.

LoveHandles88 · 15/06/2012 12:24

Call and threaten them with local papers if the money isn't in your account by the end of the day.

AlbertoFrog · 15/06/2012 12:29

Good to know BlackOutTheSun

Here's hoping they do that in this case.

hotheels · 15/06/2012 12:44

I have good news. Have spoken to the Manager of Tesco customer services again, I told him I was about to write on the Tesco FB page and had posted on MN and had people willing to tweet it and he has told me he has loaded a Tesco card with £60 and I can then buy something, then get a cash refund and they have also refunded my bank card with the original amount of £60 so hopefully when I go to Tesco a little later on there wont be any problems and I can finally get some electric. Thank you so much for your help! Smile

That's fantastic news and the least they can do given the trouble they've put you through!
