To say a fond goodbye to all my MN friends?

I will be leaving MN at the end of the day and I just wanted to say thank you to so many people - it has been a total blast!

I have learned so much, about how to get hair out of drains, how to avoid disablist language, how and when it is appropriate to use P&C spots, and a phenomenal number of new swear words!

You have saved me from socket covers and blind chains. You have picked me up when I thought I was the worst mum in the world and kicked me into going to the doctors when I was scared.

Special thanks to:

all my fellow woo-fighters - the fight to bring enlightenment to the internet is not a glamorous one...or even one we are going to win...but I would imagine we are destined to die trying...

the nobdies - for letting me spend a drunken night alone with a cardboard cut out of Tom Cruise

the BF gurus - you helped me out again and again and now I have completed my peer supporter training I one day hope to be even half a knowledgeable as you guys!

the killers - for letting me hang out when AIBU got too scary even if Octavia never made it on any of your lists

and finally the IPOAT ladies - what can I say about you? We have toured the universe (twice, the second time to apologize) and we have shared the joy of Johnny and the ...ahem...excitement... of Hugh...and lets face it, tatting is one of the most sort after transferable skills in the job market! ps. if you want to keep the coat of arms someone will probably have to rip it off my profile and repost....

So thank you all!

Because I did data protection training yesterday and it belatedly occurred to me that I could do serious damage to the reputation of my organisation even while posting my own opinions pseudo anonymously on a forum. The Leveson enquiry isn't helping with my paranoia levels.

yes I may be back one day being more reserved and vetting everything I say against it appearing in court in the future....but for now I am simply too angry about many issues to trust myself :)

entropy I seriously doubt you are being spied on. If we all left due to data protection issues there would not be many of us here.

entropygirl · 13/06/2012 10:17

no no don't worry all is fine...I just realised I am not always as professional when I am on here as I should be given personal and professional are not mutually exclusive and anonymity is non-existent!

OP posts:
entropygirl · 13/06/2012 10:19

yes well several people have identified me from my posts alone....it's the things I say not where I say them from that are the problem. And I don't want to get my employers in trouble...

NOooooooooooooooooooooooo

just change stuff

AnyoneForTennis · 13/06/2012 10:38

You can ask mnhq for a 'retrospective nanechange' for all previous posts. So all posts under your other names can be changed to 'janedoe' or a name of your choice.... Entropygirl posts then don't exist anymore

entropygirl · 13/06/2012 10:47

oh thats interesting...a retrospective name change...but I would still have to name change again...and not tell you who I was....and never go to IPOAT...so what would be the point?

OP posts:
SweetTheSting · 13/06/2012 10:48

What a lovely goodbye!

entropygirl · 13/06/2012 10:48

jins one day someone will turn up and take control of the collander...and they will never understand why you are so convinced they have been there before...

Sorry you're going Entropy - hope you manage to return in deep disguise at some point :)

GetOrfMoiiLand · 13/06/2012 10:51

No don't go, you daft ha'pporth (how the fuck is that spelled?0

Change your name every five minutes, and just don't post anything that could be traced back to your job, or anything which could be percieved as contentious.

You can change your name and still be recognised without being easily searchable - I change my name to various varieties of getorf, get0rf, gerrof, gitawf, all that kind of crap, it doesn't make it easily searchable but people still know who I am.
