A TV and a bluray player? Now you're just showing off!

HaplessHousewife · 10/06/2012 21:39

Yuk, yuk, yuk. I hate going to the cinema so I hardly ever go. I'm a bit of a goody two shoes generally so I'm really intolerant to bad behaviour.

My best cinema experience (I can't even remember what film it was) was in a really small screen, about 20 or 30 seats, and I'm assuming the film had been out a while so was poked in there, but there were only about six of us so it was like being in someone's front room but with the big screen experience ? bliss.

I read that in the voice of the McDonalds voice over! Seemed right Grin

Babylon1 · 10/06/2012 22:26

I simply refuse to go to the cinema St any time other than the first showing any week day.

Mostly it's just me in there, so the only thing I get annoyed with is the overpriced popcorn!!

manicbmc · 10/06/2012 22:42

I try to pick my times wisely so there are fewer kids when I go. And I go when it's cheaper as well.

I have had a couple of kids thrown out of the cinema before (they looked about 10, were unaccompanied in a 12a showing, and they threw popcorn throughout the first 30 minutes of the film). Vile little shits.

Sparklingbrook · 10/06/2012 22:48

I don't do the cinema if I can help it-it's too 'communal'.

takingiteasy · 10/06/2012 22:49

I only frequent the cheap Saturday morning showings now. What fucks me off about them is the fact some people assume because its only cost 2 quid they don't need to make their little darlings behave.

Jenny70 · 10/06/2012 22:49

I went last week and a lady used the torch on her smartphone to read a magazine - very bloody distracting.

JosephineCD · 10/06/2012 22:51

I don't know why idiots go to the cinema if they aren't interested in watching the film but would rather chat and play with phones. It's not like cinema tickets are cheap nowadays either. No wonder so many people prefer to illegally download.

McHappyPants2012 · 10/06/2012 22:53

the only time i go to the cinema is when i can not wait till it is realised like Harry Potter Adult only screening

YankNCock · 10/06/2012 22:53

I haven't been since Christmas 2009. It's just not worth getting a sitter and paying through the nose to see 20 minutes of adverts and eat overpriced crap. I always think the sound is up too loud as well, but not loud enough to drown out the idiots who are talking all the way through.

Much more pleasant and inexpensive to watch something at home.

Last time I took my kids to the cinema plus pizza it cost me eighty fucking quid.

I can barely remember The Hunger Games. I just kept looking at my empty wallet.

Me and me mate only go to see scary films. We never buy food, but sneak cans of Stella in our handbags Grin

LineRunner · 10/06/2012 23:08

Oh, the days of my youth! We used to go to the all nighters in the old cinema at the bottom of the Westgate Rd in Newcastle - we were always searched for drink but managed to get loads in - vodka up sleeves of leather jackets was a good one.

manicbmc · 10/06/2012 23:13

The ABC one? Grin

LineRunner · 10/06/2012 23:15

Yes! The credits rolled and you had to shout the first name - 'Arnie!', 'Sly!' etc.

Then you rolled out pissed at 5am.

LineRunner · 10/06/2012 23:16

Now that was going to the cinema... Grin

manicbmc · 10/06/2012 23:16

Last time I went there I was 12. I think it was an Indiana Jones film. Too young to roll out pissed.

I miss the Odeon.
