to think that people who choose to have more children whilst living in social housing shouldn't expect to be given a bigger place?

I am a member of another pregnancy forum and there is a woman there who has just had her 5th child (by choice). Neither her nor her partner work and she is complaining that the council will not giver them a bigger house (she is in a 3 bed). All the other members are sympathising with her but I don't understand why. Surely if you choose to have a child when you know your home is not big enough, you shouldn't expect the council to give you a bigger one, especially when it is sought after subsidised housing?

the far side of fuck is like a fucking dream world!

as much butter/jam/cream/perfectly be-bodened/primed/hoisted/plumped/slow-cooked/uncorked fucking awesomeness of any place i've ever been in and it's where trolls live

Changethatbulb · 09/06/2012 20:28

I can I just say I was from a family of 9 (ok, 2 were the parents) and we lived in a matchbox. A proper small Swans matchbox. Not them big 'Cooks' matchboxes you get these days.

That's proper hardship that is.

NettoSuperstar · 09/06/2012 20:33

Fanjo
Council houses are free, just like motability cars and flat screen TVs and pre cut fruit

UnChartered · 09/06/2012 20:34

do you have these at the end of your bed LineRunner?

NettoSuperstar · 09/06/2012 20:35

And I get free scones for my goats. Grin

LineRunner · 09/06/2012 20:36

No but God I feel I need to buy them off EBay, UnChartered.

HappyJustToBe · 09/06/2012 20:36

I think Hecate made an excellent point in her first post way up thread.

The children should not be punished and anyway saying you shouldn't have children/more children if receiving assistance from the government is making huge generalisations on so many different circumstances and sounding like Jeremy Kyle.

It's cream first and then jam and it most definitely should be clotted cream.

Changethatbulb · 09/06/2012 20:37

usual - how very dare you! Swan matchboxes were tiny. We couldn't even fart in there. There was no remaining airspace.

Grin
UnChartered · 09/06/2012 20:37

you let the side down there Netto everyone knows when you slag off poor people you have to use 'mobility' Wink

now you look as if you know what you're talking about Grin

the police have arrested your goats btw - illegal use of cream on a non-dairy spread

HappyJustToBe · 09/06/2012 20:37

Anyone not anyway.

cheesesarnie · 09/06/2012 20:39

no one offered me any scones.

op doesnt deserve them-you cant post and bugger orf. atleast stay to hear the piss being taken out of you.

KateSpade · 09/06/2012 20:41

One thing that really frustrated me, is my friend has just had another child, and been given a bigger house when i am working my ass off & Cannot afford to move out just yet. (me & DD live with my parents, i bloody love it but thats not the point here)

Other than that, i think her children will be fine in a 3 bed, however i understand where your coming from slightly.

Lilithmoon · 09/06/2012 20:47

Did someone say I could get a goat? I would love to have my very own goat. Is there any chance of a pair?

Glitterknickaz · 09/06/2012 20:48

the rent would have gone up though, Kate....
not all social housing costs the same

mankycat · 09/06/2012 20:49

I live in a 2 bed social housing flat we pay a social rent which we can afford so we dont have to claim housing benefit. However I have had DC 2 and we have been offered a 2 bed house which is a complete wreck of a place and there isnt even a decent kitchen in it, one unit and a sink. They want new the affordable rent and we cant afford it as we am not entitled to HB so we have to stay put. I would of loved a garden for DC but its a 50% increase on our rent so we have to stay put in our flat until something "affordable" comes along or I can go back to work full time.

KateSpade · 09/06/2012 20:50

She doesnt pay for any rent (or minimal), so what does it matter to her if its more expensive?

usualsuspect · 09/06/2012 20:51

I know plenty of people that live in 2 bedroomed council house with 2 or 3 children.

Where are all these big council houses anyway? because there ain't many around here.

usualsuspect · 09/06/2012 20:52

My neighbour has 3 boys in one bedroom and has no chance of being rehoused
