to think that people who choose to have more children whilst living in social housing shouldn't expect to be given a bigger place?

I am a member of another pregnancy forum and there is a woman there who has just had her 5th child (by choice). Neither her nor her partner work and she is complaining that the council will not giver them a bigger house (she is in a 3 bed). All the other members are sympathising with her but I don't understand why. Surely if you choose to have a child when you know your home is not big enough, you shouldn't expect the council to give you a bigger one, especially when it is sought after subsidised housing?

I am one of many kids, but my folks could afford it. I can't, so don't have a big family. Their choice, my choice.

People do need to get off their 'entitled' pony though. Folks who bang on about their rights should give a thought about their responsibilities too. So there.

Where's my scone? And I'll have it with butter first, then jam. And I eat the top half first. Now the real bun-fight begins...

BumpingFuglies · 09/06/2012 20:03

Oh, ok. Scone, butter, jam then cream.

usualsuspect · 09/06/2012 20:04

I laughed at ossicle Grin

usualsuspect · 09/06/2012 20:04

I want an entitle pony , I'm fed up of my goat

Frontpaw · 09/06/2012 20:04

There's cream too?

Somw folks on here too rich by far...

usualsuspect · 09/06/2012 20:05

or even an entitled pony

BumpingFuglies · 09/06/2012 20:06

My pony is council funded and not the slightest bit entitled.

Frontpaw · 09/06/2012 20:07

They're really not all they're cracked up to be. And the tory ones are a lame bunch. They do prefer the greener grass though.

HandMadeTail · 09/06/2012 20:07

My pony is entitled to scones, jam, and cream , in that fucking order, with no fucking butter. Angry

usualsuspect · 09/06/2012 20:08

My pony eats Lurpack, that how entitled he is

redwhiteandblueeyedsusan · 09/06/2012 20:08

rushes in after unchartered... confirms the shed loads of butter at the far side of fuck. butter, jam, cream... and more scraped ound the sides as i go...

minesapintofwine · 09/06/2012 20:08

why do you care? gotta be to do with taxes. I dont care. Ill still have to pay taxes which the government will waste anyway regardless of the size of her council house.

usualsuspect · 09/06/2012 20:09

My typing is shite tonight

Glitterknickaz · 09/06/2012 20:09

Oh shit sorry didn't realise I wasn't 'allowed' to breed.
Are you saying people in social housing (working or not) shouldn't be allowed to have children?

Frontpaw · 09/06/2012 20:09

Poor entitled pony! No butter! It really is Broke Britannia now, isn't it?

Those poor little ponies.

Glitterknickaz · 09/06/2012 20:10

What I mean by that for eg.... couple in a housing association studio want to start a family. Are they not allowed to do so?

Working families in housing association properties can and do get larger properties which they pay more rent on by the way.

usualsuspect · 09/06/2012 20:10

They shouldn't be allowed butter on their scones Glitter Angry

Tanith · 09/06/2012 20:10

A family on our estate have had two 3 bed houses knocked together and an extension built. There are 10 kids.

10 well-mannered, lovely, friendly kids, I should add.

Why shouldn't their housing needs be met? Would you really prefer to see them in miserable, cramped conditions?

Frontpaw · 09/06/2012 20:11

Glitter on scones now? Faints...

Whatever next?

Glitterknickaz · 09/06/2012 20:11

I was adequately housed until my kids' needs were fully known.
Now I have a four bed, because of their needs they have to have a room each (medical and SS said so).

So I had to get a bigger house.

So shoot me.

KalSkirata · 09/06/2012 20:11

my mother is in a council house and she doesnt have ANY kids living with her. Chuck her out I say mumblemoanwhingecomplain

usualsuspect · 09/06/2012 20:13

Butter,jam,cream then glitter

AnyoneForTennis · 09/06/2012 20:17

Yes glitter..... Many don't realise that you ARE entitled as your family grows.....you can start in a studio as newlyweds, then a family home, then a retirement bungalow...... You have the tenancy, so you are ENTITLED to move as appropriate.

As you have done, and as I have too. I will downsize one day from my 5 bed. Maybe move to a different area.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 09/06/2012 20:17

People always seem to assume council houses are free too

cheesesarnie · 09/06/2012 20:18

love the way the op carries her view over to mn and disapears.

on the 'other' site shes probably saying she wants a bigger house and is getting shit on so came her and turned it round.

i am very lucky (at the moment) but grew up one of four mostly sharing rooms with my siblings and both parents. this was normal! i remember being about 14 and getting my own room, it was supposedly a shower room but we just blocked off the shower with drawers and stuck a mat on the inch of lino that wasnt taken up with my matress(no room for a base).

i was and still am very lucky.(and smugGrin)
