To think Stokke pushchairs look ridiculous?

Honestly I turn around whenever I see one. The futuristic look is quite ridiculous and they look like a heap of cheap plastic.
Can't imagine why anyone would spend £800 to buy one!

Yes of course the car! Grin
Bet you can't get a stokke in the boot!

MrGin · 06/06/2012 16:14

I don't think it has a boot :o

Bagofholly · 06/06/2012 16:16

Or cup holders? Worthless.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 06/06/2012 16:26

I gave in when I had dc5
I know I am old and stuff bot the best part of a grand for a buggy!
I got a lovely blue velvet silver cross off eBay for twenty quid.
Oh how i loved that boingy pram.
I stuck a windmill in it and got some straps embroidered with his name.
It was the bomb that pram..

Tangointhenight · 06/06/2012 16:39

They look like the aliens in the War of the worlds!!!!!

LilBlondePessimist · 06/06/2012 23:28

This thread seems to be split into two very obvious camps - firstly there are those who say 'I have one, I love it, it's great for my dc for x,y,z reason, and I'm really glad I bought it'. Then you have those 'I don't have one, have never used one, or even actually pushed one, but nevertheless I think it's useless/shit/too expensive' Hmm.

flightty · 07/06/2012 06:42

What about the person who had one and hated it?

I hope I don't fit into either of those camps either, I don't think you've read the thread properly if you think that.

flightty · 07/06/2012 06:45

But then I've had over 60 prams/pushchairs so I realise there are good and bad sides to most. Im just interested I suppose. no idea why Smile

LilBlondePessimist · 07/06/2012 07:13

Nope, just read the thread back, and of all the many many people who have them, one said it was crap, one complained about customer service when it was faulty, and one person expressed slight problems with public transport (although loved everything else about it). Everyone else who has one absolutely loves it, for lots of reasons (none of these I notice being 'status'). However, all the really derogatory statements (parents look foolish, makes babies look like aliens, looks unstable, not comfortable for dcs, not a pram(???!), only a status symbol etc etc etc) have been made by people who don't have one, have never had one, and haven't even pushed one. So, in short, talking out of their backsides. I do realise that some people have had a more considered view, but they are in the minority.

flightty · 07/06/2012 07:19

No that was my point - there are other perspectives and some people were very polite.

I take yours too though.

flightty · 07/06/2012 07:20

I do think however that Stokke is missing a trick if the vast majority of those who have never owned one think they look ridiculous.

If they could just get the visual design to be a little more popular they might sell millions.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 07/06/2012 07:40

Not to me. I would never spend that much on a pram, no matter what it looked like.
Same for quinny, bugaboos and phil and teds.
I love prams, having had 5 dcs over 20 years, I have been through a few.
They are no fun anymore. The cheaper ones are grey or black and the bright ones cost more than my car.

LilBlondePessimist · 07/06/2012 07:57

Fair enough flighty, I do realise there have been a few considered viewpoints from non owners, although admittedly only very few. It just amuses me that so many are so critical of something they have no experience of. Sounds a bit like big fat pram envy! Grin

I do agree though that if they could make them more visually appealing to everyone then they could possibly triple their sales.

LilBlondePessimist · 07/06/2012 07:58

Ps flighty, the pram envy wasn't aimed at you at all! :)

MammaBrussels · 07/06/2012 08:13

Were the 60 prams in honour of the Jubilee Flighty?

flightty · 07/06/2012 09:23

LOL at Jubilee prams. Smile (I can say that, I'm a hun)

I don't think people are envious - I think they just don't grasp the concept.

You know, even if the Reliant Kitten was a really ,really good car, people would still take the piss because it looks silly. And they wouldn't want one.

People tend to be shallow like that, I guess.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 07/06/2012 11:23

Reliant Kitten! Is there an actual car called a Reliant Kitten? I want one of them.

flightty · 07/06/2012 11:38

I think if you saw it you probably wouldn't Grin

flightty · 07/06/2012 11:40

Oh no I'm sorry it's the Robin

the kitten actually looks relatively normal

Tangointhenight · 07/06/2012 11:41

I said the pram looks like an alien, not the baby, and BTW I did push one, not worth its price tag by any means and I am the biggest pram snob out there! :-P

LilBlondePessimist · 07/06/2012 11:52

Actually tangointhenight, I was referencing the comment:
Tizzylizzy Tue 05-Jun-12 18:15:18
I think the are so ugly and look like an alien pod. When there is a brand new baby in one this isn't a flattering effect, being that many new babies look like aliens (except mine of course), not one of yours.

I beg to differ though, having had many prams and strollers, that the xplory, after eight months daily use is still worth every penny, as a pram, stroller and highchair. And, the resale value will be high when I (sadly) have to get a different brand for a newborn and 15mth old.

Oh, and I'm not a pram snob in the slightest.

Katiepoes · 07/06/2012 11:53

Not worth its price to you Tango. Clearly it is to others, myself included.

Bagofholly · 07/06/2012 12:02

The "not worth it" thing is silly - you could say that about anything! Shoes, houses, handbags, etc! Entirely personal!

Tangointhenight · 07/06/2012 12:42

I do agree that we all have a right to thinking what we like about it! But to spend as much money on a pram as you could on a second hand car when there are perfectly good and functional ones half the price smacks of snobbery to me.

flightty · 07/06/2012 12:45

well it's a bit of personal and abit market led really isn't it...when you can get something that does a lot of what it does just as well as it does it, for a lot less dosh, then it's probably not worth it.

I'd never want something that turned into a highchair as I don't eat out. I don't need a pram that goes up and down stairs. (usually) as I don't use the tube often enough, don't have many steps into our house and most shops have lifts.

and I have a big enough basket on my existing pram (some of them anyway, we have about 13)

So to me, not worth the money. Though I could prob have got one with the money I've spent on various others over the years!

I don't think a new bugaboo is worth the money either but I have got one, albeit bought as parts, second hand/nearly new etc because I think I'll get some decent use out of it and basically it's good fun and works well for me.

And it looks very pretty! Which is a big part of it. Has anyone from the stokke owners' club admitted that they like it mostly because it looks special? I don't see what's wrong with that if it's true. You can have whatever pram turns you on, it's not up to anyone else.
