To think Stokke pushchairs look ridiculous?

Honestly I turn around whenever I see one. The futuristic look is quite ridiculous and they look like a heap of cheap plastic.
Can't imagine why anyone would spend £800 to buy one!

Familiessharegerms if there's no Stokke double what's a girl to do?

FamiliesShareGerms · 05/06/2012 19:51

Don't know, Bagofholly (I was a pram then Maclaren stroller type, too tight to can't fathom spending upwards of £500 on a buggy, so no ideas from me). But I can't be alone in wondering about the first / second child thing, surely?

MammaBrussels · 05/06/2012 19:52

Bagofholly you can get a special Stokke buggyboard thingumy

osterleymama · 05/06/2012 20:05

I'm expecting number 2 and think my 20 month old will be too young to just rely on buggy board thing. I was thinking sling plus stokke until younger one is about 3 months, then buggy board. Or might just crack and buy a tandem.

Icelollycraving · 05/06/2012 20:32

I have the Tripp trapp too. Find it v easy to clean.

WinkyWinkola · 05/06/2012 21:16

The cot is expensive but can't you make it into two curved chairs when you've finished using it as a cot?

It's the lifetime of some of their products that explains the cost.

If the paint is peeling on the TrippTrapp, then I would contact Stokke and complain.

My dc3 will be just 15mths when dc4 arrives and im also faced with not giving the little one all the same advantages re the xplory. I've contacted stokke to ask if there is a double or bolt on seat in the pipeline. I haven't heard back yet but perhaps if more people did the same they would realise that demand is there.

Bagofholly · 06/06/2012 01:45

Liliblondepessimist they know how the world needs a double Stokke. But it must be hard to come up with something totally different to everything else out there. The buggyboard only fits the newer Evo editions and is of course no good for twins. If only there was an effective way of lashing two Stokke Xplorys together!

LilBlondePessimist · 06/06/2012 02:14

Ah, bugger! Just a bolt on seat would do me!! :)

MammaBrussels · 06/06/2012 07:46

Bagofholly lashing thesunovertheyardarm.com/learn-knots/

I love mine. I love dd being higher and being able to chat to her and look her in the eye when out and about

It's high enough up for DH (6'2'') and low enough for me. I've loved it, as has dd who does NOT like the MacLaren and how she is a) faced away from us and b) so low down.

However, even in our big car it takes up a lot of room and has not lasted well traveling. We ended up buying the MacLaren only because we fly a lot and the stokke was getting a bit bashed up even with the travel bag. Plus fitting that, plus luggage in taxis was a nightmare.

porcamiseria · 06/06/2012 09:46

they are a status symbol. not a pram

HazleNutt · 06/06/2012 11:41

Oh I love it! I want one now and we don't even have DC yet.

skybluepearl · 06/06/2012 13:16

I quite like the look of them but then they are rear facing which is excellent and great for chatting to babe

BuntyCollocks · 06/06/2012 13:38

DC2 is due in Jan, DC1 is 2 at the end of January. I plan to sling DC1 and have DC2 in the Stokke, until DC1 is likely to stay on the bloody buggy board make use of the buggy board and/or be able to walk for longer distances. Neatly getting around the first child/second child dilemma.

AKE2012 · 06/06/2012 13:46

Iv jus googled them. How horrible are they. Also dont see the point in spending hundreds and hundreds of pounds on a pram.

Also those people who buy a pram and then buy another coz they couldnt fold the first one need to b slapped with the pram.

MrGin · 06/06/2012 14:08

they are a status symbol. not a pram

I'm pretty sure ours was a pram.

They are great for your back as you don't have to stoop, they function as a high chair for dc when you're out, you can chat and make eye contact with dc ( or not as they're reversible ) , dc aren't at dog sniffing / foot level, and they go second hand for hundreds of pounds.

I never realized there was so much pram snobbery.

Katiepoes · 06/06/2012 14:12

AKE we have a small foldy Quinny Zapp that lives in the boot of the car, used for the airport. The Stokker we use at home, 90% of our use is in that. As much as I love the Stokke I don't want to fold it for a flight.

There is no 'point' in spending 100s of pounds on anything you don't like. I'm sure you spend money on stuff I wouldn't like. Am I being rude about it?

(I can't believe I am defending a choice of stroller.)

BlueAndRedAndWhite · 06/06/2012 14:18

YABU. Stokke's are fab.

I have a Bugaboo at the moment.

I am a pram nerd.

I don't care if you think they are a waste of money.

catfart · 06/06/2012 14:36

Bought mine second hand and worth every penny....DS was lovely and high up and i'm 6ft in flats so it was amazing to have to not stoop at any time, best pram but had to sell it as baby 2 on the way.....got £50 more than what I paid for it....i'm also shocked at thenpram snobbery on her yabvu.

MrGin · 06/06/2012 15:34

The designer of the Explory also designed this , which I liked but I'm sure others will be more Hmm

Bagofholly · 06/06/2012 15:36

Will it take a maxi-cosi car seat? Hmm

MrGin · 06/06/2012 15:40

Will it take a maxi-cosi car seat?

MrGin · 06/06/2012 15:40
