To think Stokke pushchairs look ridiculous?

Honestly I turn around whenever I see one. The futuristic look is quite ridiculous and they look like a heap of cheap plastic.
Can't imagine why anyone would spend £800 to buy one!

Grim. And doubly annoying due to the one family at our nursery who have one seem to think its too precious to go in the shed with all the other buggies so leave it inside the nursery ion their VIP spot.

olimpia · 02/06/2012 22:37

Grin at charlstonhair weird display stand for your child

Fucking hell I feel old

People are spending so much money on prams nowadays I'm surprised they don't get mugged for them Grin

When my DC's have kids I'm going to insist they get me a separate easy to fold stroller or I'll go into techno meltdown.

takingiteasy · 02/06/2012 22:38

Just googled the winter kit - you get furry muffs for your hands attached to the handle bar? That's fucking awful genius!

WorraLiberty · 02/06/2012 22:40

Furry muffs?

Worra loada bollocks

What's wrong with a pair of gloves from the pound shop?

heliumballoon · 02/06/2012 22:43

I once saw a woman tip her Stokke buggy over trying to get it on a bus. Her DS wasn't in it thank god, but still Shock

herethereandeverywhere · 02/06/2012 22:43

Has anyone seen the hilarious winter-warm-kit thingy accessory? There was a woman walking round Waitrose pushing one which looked like the pram and hand bit had been wrapped in a sort of down sleeping bag with fluffy/furry bits. I couldn't decide whether it looked like that for a joke.

Also, what happens when you're using it for your 2/3 year old? Do you have to lift them that high to get in (surely they couldn't climb in themselves?) That would do my back in in 2 seconds flat!

FreeBirdsFlying · 02/06/2012 22:44

I cheated and bought a FW city twin because the donkey was too expensive. And donkey sounds stupid.

LST · 02/06/2012 22:47

I've had no problems with my oBaby Blush

RillaBlythe · 02/06/2012 22:49

I don't like them mainly because a smug NCT mum had one, & spent hours telling me how it was best for her baby's language development, far better than the rest of us plebs. I resisted the urge to point out I always carried DD, which presumably has the same language developments.

Bluestocking · 02/06/2012 22:50

I like the way the baby is high up enough to talk to. They do remind me of the mail trolley in one of those American films set in an office though!

FreeBirdsFlying · 02/06/2012 22:51

Worra if you buy a weird looking buggy you need a furry muff.
In for a penny,in for a pound.

I'm five foot so most children in buggys are high up enough to talk to.

I imagine that's true.

From a very early age they'll learn to point at the pram and say "What the fuck is that??"

cityangel · 02/06/2012 22:59

YANBU as your impressions and imagination are your own - In reality there are clearly plenty of happy customers like myself who are happy with their choice. I can see why its not for everyone. Budget and space issues would be the obvious restrictions. It looks different - but we like that, is a bit wide for the bus, doesn't fold down as small/ swiftly and can't be upgraded to a double.

We love our Stokke Grin Having kids up high to talk to whilst going about town was great. The kids are above the fumes.§ It easily doubles up as a highchair if places don't have them. The kids were comfy in it even when bigger. You can lie toddlers almost flat in it. Decent hood. Can be easily adjusted for different pusher heights. The different bag options allow for plenty of storage. Folds into stair mode to bump down. Robust enough to survive airplane holds. Good ebay resale value.

StrawbRhi · 02/06/2012 23:01

herethereandeverywhere The chair lowers to a a normal stroller height and swivels round so they can climb in and out of easily at that age.

Im surprised at the people having issues on buses with them, Ive not had a problem, in fact some bus drivers have complimented ours on the fact it takes up less space! I dont take the bus much anymore as Ive now learned to drive- something thats essential living in Milton Keynes. The buggy fits in my Ford Fusion with roughly 12 bags of shopping around it.

BuntyCollocks · 02/06/2012 23:05

YABU.

I love my stokke! Ds looks so comfortable in it as well

Oh, but if anyone had their contact details, could you pass them on? I've heard they service the buggy before #2. Ours is in near perfect condition, but if they make it immaculate again for nothing, I'd be silly not to look into it!

BuntyCollocks · 02/06/2012 23:06

Oh, and we got the whole package for £600 - on a par with most travel systems.

Buntingbunny · 02/06/2012 23:06

WTF
Those are ridiculous!

Mind you I got a lot of stick for putting DD1 in a wheel barrow!

14 years ago her's was the first 3 wheeled buggy they had ever seen.

5madthings · 02/06/2012 23:12

i dont like the look of them at all, and they arent good i would imagine for fields, anything off road etc?

but my friend had one as she has back problems and it was great for her as she wasnt leaning down to put baby in and out etc, she used till her dd was about 3 i think?

i have a frog that i love and have used for 4 children so well worth the money spent on it.

LisaLaundryThatsLAAANDRY · 02/06/2012 23:13

YANBU reason They are Ugly

LisaLaundryThatsLAAANDRY · 02/06/2012 23:15

Erm i don't why i put reason in there Blush I've not drank that much alcohol honest Grin

squeakytoy · 02/06/2012 23:24
