why are there so many programs where there are either no adults or adults that are made out to be idiots that it's easy for the kids to run rings around them?

in the good old days when I was young we had Grange Hill where the teachers were most definitely in charge and the early years of Byker Grove my eyes my eyes when Geoff kept everyone in check

my DDs talk like these shows and so do their friends and I am convinced they encourage them to disrespect adults

plus they are very annoying and repetative

bring back Why Don't You and then switch off the tv set and do something less boring instead!

Yanbu. I'm forever screeching at the kids to watch British crap, not American crap :o

Mrsjay · 02/06/2012 00:08

I think kids in these shows are right cheekyGrin to adults and always trying to outsmart them then adults look a bit foolish , I hate disney channel with a passion , not only do they have crap programmes they are shown on a loop . the nick programmes dont seem as bad but icarly is annoying , wouldnt have happened in mrs mclusky days of grange hill ,

CardyMow · 02/06/2012 01:01

YANBU. Mostly because they're all shite. How can you tell I have a 14yo, a 10yo and an 8yo. Cbeebies for the 16mo is far more entertaining, less irritating, and easier to ignore and block out! Plus on Cbeenies you get to drool over Sid.

CardyMow · 02/06/2012 01:04

House of Anubis on Nickelodeon is ok though, everything stops at 6pm in this house - there is even a temporary ceasefire in the permanent war between 14yo DD and 10yo DS1. I am not admitting to getting right into it too, oh no, not at all...

MrsRhettButler · 02/06/2012 01:08

Urgh, the disney channel. Dd2 watches Disney junior, Mickey mouse is much better than ant farm or Jessie.

Fourlegged · 02/06/2012 01:32

My ds is only 4 months but I was thinking thus the other day! Yanbu I do believe they encourage tarty girls with attitude

stressedHEmum · 02/06/2012 08:49

I got rid of Sky just to escape from all that stuff. I can't stand it, it's all so inane and the kids are a nightmare. PAir of Kings, anyone?

Cardy, in this house, it's called House of the Noobs and it caused DS3 great delight when I cancelled Sky because DD can't watch it anymore. No ceasefire in thise house, I'm afraid.

HokeyCokeyJubileeMyArse · 02/06/2012 08:52

I got rid of the Disney channel as well, bloody rubbish.

Now they are watching Sarah Jane Adventures on CBBC which is better.

Oh and i loved Why Don't You!

Sparklingbunting · 02/06/2012 09:02

Mrsjay · 02/06/2012 10:43

lolaflores · 02/06/2012 10:53

The Suite life is basically two nasty little perv boys constantly dribbling over women...it makes me fucking sick to watch. so wrong

CalamityKate · 02/06/2012 11:12

I quite like some of the American shows. Some of the cast can at least act - whereas House of Anubis actually makes me squirm, the acting is so bad. Ditto Dani's House.

Sparklingbunting · 02/06/2012 11:13

DS2 has just put Spongebob on. I like that. Smile I can also tolerate quite large amounts of Phineas and Ferb.

CalamityKate · 02/06/2012 11:15

I love Spongebob and Phineas and Ferb! Although I'm still not sure how/why there's 104 days of summer vacation.

Mrsjay · 02/06/2012 11:15

Oh now Phineas and ferb i think i love perry sparkling Grin

crazygracieuk · 02/06/2012 11:23

American schools don't have half terms.

I was at an Anerican school and we had 3 months of summer vacation.

Sparklingbunting · 02/06/2012 11:24

My favourite Spongebob episode is where they go onto dry land and Spongebob is actually a real sponge on a stick.

crazygracieuk · 02/06/2012 11:24

My children like Shake it Up and Good Luck Charlie. They used to watch Wizards, I-Carly and so on but even they got bored of them.

crazygracieuk · 02/06/2012 11:25

I think Phineas and Ferb the movie is on this weekend?

Mrsjay · 02/06/2012 11:26

Did he dry out sparkling i rememeber being amused with a dry dehydrated sponge Grin

scottish schools don't have half terms crazy

crazygracieuk · 02/06/2012 11:26

On sky not the cinema.

Sparklingbunting · 02/06/2012 11:27

In Good Luck Charlie there was a godawful Christmas movie where the Mom was revealed to be pregnant. I haven't seen an episode with her with a bump or a baby. Have i missed something? Not sure why I care. Confused

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 02/06/2012 11:27

I like i-carly. Blush

Sparklingbunting · 02/06/2012 11:28

Yes, he was a dried out sponge. Grin I also like the one where he goes to Sandy's for afternoon tea and nearly dehydrates. Grin

Mrsjay · 02/06/2012 11:30

I dont think we are on the new series of good luck charlie yet But i think the next series she is pregnant according to DD2 anyway ,

oo sandy cheeks I swear i laughed like a drain at sandy cheeks Grin
