to think that the constant sniping of late has driven off some of my favourite posters?

Just that really.

I lurk more than I post, and am well aware of the cycle of a couple of odd days, followed by a day or two of "MN isn't what it used to be..." but, there seems to have been more consistent nastiness over the last two or three weeks.

Is it coincidence that many of my favourite posters, the ones who make me smile, (SarahStratton, SuePurblyBilt, Pagwatch, BoF, to name a few) have either stopped posting or reduced their input considerably?

I often see references to threads that went "poof" but often never see the threads - so I miss all the accusations of bullying, royalty, cliquiness etc. etc.

Is that what you are meaning DoUnto? -

WorraLiberty · 25/05/2012 10:13

I suppose you'd have to ask them personally whether it's a coincidence or not.

The weather's nice, plenty to be done in the garden etc...

I think most forums take a quieter turn during spring/summer.

Salmotrutta · 25/05/2012 10:14

Or I should say, more accurately, that I only see the very odd thread about royalty or "I'm new and you're all horrible". Grin

I just assume everybody is on Facebook. I am starting to feel like I am not angry enough to be on MN at the moment. There seems to be a lot of anger but not from any names I recognise.

squeakytoy · 25/05/2012 10:17

I think it is more likely that because the weather is nice, people are outside doing things rather than sitting in at a computer.

DoUntoOtters · 25/05/2012 10:19

Sparklingbrook yes, it is the anger I have noticed. I come on here for a bit of light entertainment during a coffee break.

Seems like fun threads are not allowed anymore.

RightBuggerforit · 25/05/2012 10:21

Isn't this just more sniping?

Pinot · 25/05/2012 10:21

:o @ NotCowbag's post :o

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 25/05/2012 10:23

LOVE your name, dounto. Grin i've seen all the people you mention posting recently, though.

TheSurgeonsMate · 25/05/2012 10:23

Can't people take their computers into their gardens ffs??!

Sparklingbrook · 25/05/2012 10:25

Perhaps the heat is making everyone hot and angry.

babylann · 25/05/2012 10:27

I haven't noticed any sniping. But I have noticed lots of people talking about the sniping Grin

DoUntoOtters · 25/05/2012 10:27

Thanks, Aitch Grin

Quite right, TSM or they could post from their fancy phones just as easily from a hammock.

PandaWatch · 25/05/2012 10:40

I'll admit it - I've started a new forum on my website www.PandaNet.com and have secretly been recruiting from here over the last few months! Grin

this is a lie

Sparklingbrook · 25/05/2012 10:43

I know that posts saying MN has changed, wasn't what it was etc don't go down well. People always come on to say it has always been like it.

My only observation is that threads do take a nasty turn more often IMO.

OTheHugeManatee · 25/05/2012 11:16

I think MN is a bit odd at the moment, Otters, but I'm not completely sure why. Hopefully it'll pass.

IAmNotACowbag · 25/05/2012 11:17

I'm quite hungry. I'd love some chips

Sparklingbrook · 25/05/2012 11:17

The Litter Tray is a lovely haven at the moment. Toddles kitten thread/s are fab.

doormat · 25/05/2012 11:21

its not the threads that are turning nasty...it is the ppl who have a different opinion or experience...

the pitchforks come out....and then you get called a liar, vile, uncaring, evil...

we all have differnt experiences, personalities etc

more tolerance is needed imo

DoUntoOtters · 25/05/2012 11:22

Yes, I have been gripped by the kitten thread. Lovely. But, when posters started offering money for vet's bills I found myself holding my breath...

Chips can never be wrong.
