but the house thing. i dont understand. his front door opens into a long hallway with 2 doors opening off it but nothing at the end except the underneath of the stairs. why are his stairs backwards compared to all teh other houses in teh square?

It amuses me how they change the houses from time to time and expect you not to notice. They did this in Corrie with Sally & Kevin's house. When Ashley and Maxine lived there the kitchen was where the stairs are now!

And in Emmerdale the layout of Debbie's kitchen changed overnight.

The room to the right used to be Lou beales downstairs bedroom iirc! Maybe they had to extend/adjust for her?

How many bedrooms does Pat's house have?

I think the Fowlers house in Eastenders had as many bedrooms as the writers needed it to have at any given time. Look at the Rovers Return. The men's toilets should logically be in the Barlow's living room!

Pat had her own room, Ricky and Bianca must have had their own, carol could possibly have shared with Tiffany and Whitney, and the boys would have to have their own. That's FOUR bedrooms at the very least. The Slaters house was the same.

Pat's dining room was a bedroom, same as Dot's.

And it doesn't have a ceiling

I don't watch it now because it's depressing and Shane Ritchie is in it but when I did the pub fascinated me.

You see the kitchen, the living room and occasionally one of the bedrooms but they have this massive amount of people living there all at the same time.

And yes about the changing layouts overnight, although in Corrie I think Ashley's other wife who wasn't Maxine set it on fire to explain the change around.

i live near the eastenders set it is fascinating to watch it being changed

ian knocked through after he was left the house by pauline,they also had a loft con when michelle had the baby.

in corrie they had to change the layout for when they had the fire they said you werent spose to notice lmao!

Pat's house just looks like a typical Victorian London terrace to me - usually with 3 or 4 bedrooms. They tend to be big houses that's why they are so often converted into 2 flats because they are spacey.

I wish Alfie would go , the Queen Vic looks like a dive these days

why has ian gone mad? I seem to have missed a whole plot line in between him wanting to get married and being excited to him going totally loopy

What shocked me more about the heather story line was when Ben put roxy coat in a washing machine. Phil must be posh to own one of them in eastenders.

i've been laughing my head off this last week at the phil/ian/ben thing.

every episode ben comes to phil and says "ian's selling the house/selling the cafe/leaving walford/marrying mandy/going on a cruise/losing the plot etc and each tim phil says "i'll sort it" so he does...til the next episode where ian starts behaving panicky again.

So is Mandy a golddigger or not? Or is the daughter just a bitch?

I have two pet hates about it, but they are as old as the show. They all survive on no money, all moan about being skint and don't know where the next rent payment is coming from, yet they're always in the bladdy pab.

Also, who doesn't own a washing machine in this day and age? All of them, it seems. Except Tanya and Max. There's is ALWAYS on.

i reckon the launderette will suddenly become something else when dot goes (if she ever goes!) and everyone will suddenly grow space for a washing machine i their kitchens and then when bianca comes back it will be her washing machine that breaks down that causes her to need more money. either that or they will write it into the story that mr popadopolous (sp) will tell her he's shutting it down as everyone has washing machines now and dot will spiral into a depression before taking herself off to live somewhere else (with sister rose?)

I love Mr Popadopopopopalus and I've never even seen him.
